Jason is power crept Springtrap 2.0
With the reveal of Jason's power and gameplay majority of people are seeing major similarities between Jason and Springtrap mainly his Projectile and Mobility powers being unoriginal and just a better version of Spring traps powers.
With Jason releasing what point is their now in playing Springtrap? If you think otherwise explain your reasoning below.

In BHVR's defense, this is probably because of Scott Cawthon having a specific vision for Springtrap.
A part of me is curious if they informed him that he accidentally created a carbon copy of a character they already had planned. 🤔
Either way, hopefully this opens the door for more Springtrap changes, because goodness gracious he needs some.

just had an aneurism realising he IS likely just springtrap but better, what is the thought process here lmaooo

I've mentioned it previously but I don't think the comparison is very accurate but to go more in depth I think Jason is far stronger than Springtrap but advantages Springtrap does have is a command grab (in theory multiple but nobody goes into the office anymore) and the ability to do orbitals. Also Jason's stealth is way closer to Spirit's than Springtrap's. Not to mention Glitchtrap is probably way stealthier than Jason in terms of actually getting stealth hits.
Jason meanwhile has way better zoning and more consistent angles of approaching survivors and I'm gonna say better looping due to being able to teleport mid chase and being able to break pallets out of phase. Springtrap ideally wants to axe and grab before you get to a loop.

Springtrap can select any door on the map and just pop out of there, his undetectable status from door use allows you to get within throwing range before people start running, his axe grab can be used to avoid second chance perks, and his projectile is capable of hitting over higher obstactles.
Jason (so far as ive seen) has more of a batform mobility with the differences being survivors cant see you or hear that you are nearby until you popout, and he cant teleport across the map to the jumpscare points. So its more of a way to suprise people if they have a vault/pallet nearby, his projectile is more straightforward (sure its easier to use but that doesnt make it much stronger) and requires manually picking up 1 javelin at a time (though without having to stop and in convenient locations) id imagine if you were looping jason at a main building and he misses his 1 shot there arent many hooks around to reload making him an m1 killer quickly. Springtrap has an infinite but longer reload time (which hasnt bothered me since i always use his addon to reduce that time).
They are different enough that they would both be played. We said the same thing about springtrap being a better xeno

Alot of people pointed out the similarities so can't blame ya for the aneurysm realising it

So Jason can teleport to any of his random outlines but ST is limited to his doors, right?

Mmm I wouldn't really call springtraps axe grab command an advantage cause most of the time you don't really get it or it to work right and orbitals ain't a reliable method either it's better to use the axe like a regular projectile instead.
I will agree Jason mobility is closer to Spirits mobility and his jumpscare emergence is very strong and quick and has haste and that Jason zoning is very good but just like Springtraps ptb and launch zoning that's probably going to get nerfed.
However I think in terms of looping and chase Jason might be weaker compared to Spring traps because in loop if Jason misses a Spike he's just a regular 4.4 m1 killer and if there's no piles nearby he's gonna get bullied in that loop
While as Springtrap can keep using his axe and if he misses he gets to be 4.6 even more if you account foxy hook addon.

In BHVR's defense, this is probably because of Scott Cawthon having a specific vision for Springtrap.
I don't know where the idea came from that Scott Cawthon chose the axe and BHVR had no choice but to follow his vision.
It was mentioned Springtrap's finalized power was competing in development with one based more around FNaF lore, and the Axe tested better. BHVR was the one who would have reviewed the playtesting data and evaluated which power is more suited to DBD from a user experience standpoint, since they make the game.
All Cawthon would be doing is evaluating whether Springtrap's power is a good fit for Afton's character and the FNaF Ip, and approving BHVR move forward with the power concept they pitched. If he decided the axe was ill fitting, BHVR would have found a way to make whatever the other power was work.
Obviously Scott Cawthon personally approved every major decision that went into the FNAF Chapter we got and handled the writing, but BHVR didn't just sit back and let him design Springtrap for them. They would have been the ones to create and pitch the power, leaning on Scott's knowledge of FNAF for aspects like the visual and animation design of Afton and the Pizzeria, and making sure they got his stamp of approval on all creative decisions.
A part of me is curious if they informed him that he accidentally created a carbon copy of a character they already had planned.
I don't mean to come for you here, but this doesn't make sense. Each chapter starts development a year in advance, and FNAF was a year before F13. Scott would have approved Springtrap's final concept months before Jason would have entered early development.

Better stealth, faster in general, better map traversal, better projectile.
I mean seriously… what is the goal here? Even if you want to argue that they are not EXACTLY the same, there is so much overlap that it's fair to say you can go a day of never playing springtrap again and just play Jason instead because you get damn near the same experience but just… stronger.
The only reason to play springtrap would be because you like FNAF.

Well put, I assumed Cawthon was in charge of Springtrap's overall design simply because that's what I heard when the chapter was released, I didn't bother investigating further.
What I said regarding Jason's power is also another assumption. You are correct about chapter development, I assumed BHVR & Jason Universe already had a general idea of what they wanted to do with Jason during the time Jason Universe spent collaborating with other properties, it's unlikely that Jason Universe wouldn't reach out to BHVR during that time, it's even more unlikely for BHVR to turn them away.
In hindsight I should've put more thought into my original post & recognized my missteps, my apologies.

On the topic of looping it's interesting because if you miss you're at a disadvantage and that's even if you get a shot but what makes it not quite that straight forward is if you make them drop the pallets and have your teleport you can reset on the other side of the pallet, you break it automatically and grab the broken pallet bits for a new projectile and your back in business (I've heard broken pallets is one of the things you can use if this turns out to be wrong then nvm lol) so while Jason's looping doesn't seem strong at first I think his strength there is his ability to reset the situation fairly easily if he messes up.

Can we wait for the killer to be released before we start making comparisions? Cause I remember when Springtrap was just "power crept" Huntress and they turned out to be completely different killers. Also shout out to all the gamers who were saying Ghoul is just a powered up Legion.

Hmm well if your using your omnipresence and then emerge break a pallet that's a fair bit of time to chain and transition too I think if a survivor saw the fog appear and you do that they would just run to the next loop

might be unrelated to the topic but is Jason's default movement speed 4.6 or 4.4? or is it the same concept of Springtrap while holding the axe?

What do you guys expect. They Always Come back. No Ok

I’m seeing Slinger with mobility rather than Springtrap, tbh.
A projectile that moves straight ahead, fast. But instead of it merely being an opportunity for a hit, it just is a hit.
Can reload basically anywhere, seemingly without needing to slow down. Far superior mobility… Built in Nowhere to Hide…

I see the similarities, but they'll remain different enough that I'm unlikely to abandon Springtrap, although I am probably going to play a fair amount of Jason too.
Projectile arc changes play massively, as Springtrap can use orbitals to overloop. This is kind of unique to him, but comes at the cost of the range advantage Jason has.
Jason's impale has a cost to it even if you hit, should you hit in a bad location and not pin into a wall, as it gives survivors distance immediately on top of their usual ouchie speed via knockback.
Springtrap's reload is largely manual and from anywhere with a decently short cooldown. Jason's is map dependent and you bet survivors will eventually figure out ways to path to make it hard for him to consistently have power available. I suspect Jason will see more M1 play, it'll take a few weeks at least to see if this is true.
Springtrap has better long-range mobility but worse short range. Jason will likely be stronger on smaller maps and better at holding 3 gens even at moderate distance, whereas Springtrap can choose which gens to defend based on door placement, and if final 3 are split across the map, it's less of an issue.
Springtrap has his grab which makes downing after hitting with his projectile very reliable. it also bypasses pick up keeping you safe from flashlights entirely and much harder to pallet save against.
I predict Jason will be overall a stronger killer, and will probably get higher value for less input, but good Springtrap players will still play Springtrap and get value. Addons will probably differentiate them further (At least I hope, I like Springtrap's addons as I feel they are substantially varied.2
