Why Am I Being Downvoted On Giving Feedback On A New Perk I Think Is Too Much

I understand that solo survivors struggle a lot. And may need Throttle for that type of perk. But I just think it’s a bit too much for killer to face.

Edit: I’m just providing feedback like everyone else here. And stating my opinion and if you don’t agree that’s fine. I just think the downvoting on something so small is ridiculous especially when providing feedback.

Yeah, I know but it’s kind of annoying to deal with. Especially giving feedback on something.

Downvotes really don't mean anything and simply you shouldn't care about them. Though what might help if you actually stated why you think this perk is too strong.

my motto when I get downvoted for is "your boos mean nothing to me I've seen what makes you cheer!"

    dont sweat it, friend.

I don't understand this mentality to be honest. I've gotten massively upvoted and downvoted posting the same opinions at different times. It really depends on who's looking when you do.

I don't know what exact feedback you gave but downvotes tend to mean people disagree with said statement in some way.

Also time of day is a thing as someone mentioned that can contribute to upvotes or downvotes

Didnt see the original comment, but here's why I think Throttle isnt too big of a deal:
    1. It resets and blocks the pallet. That means you cant break it, but survivors cant use it either.
    2. The pallet originally blocked your path when they vaulted it, now it doesnt.

    On paper, really strong perk
In practice, I doubt this perk will see a lot of usage

That 15% haste is literally them matching your movementspeed for 3 seconds, because you no longer need to break the pallet, which would have cost you more distance:
Just in terms of a straight line and you having to break the pallet vs throttle being used:
    1. They vault the pallet with 5 meters distance, you break it ASAP uppon arrival (2.3 seconds, but to sell the point, I've made it last 3 seconds) while standing still, survivors move at 100% after vaulting in a straight line → Takes you 29 seconds after the chase originally started to hit them.
    2. They vault the pallet with 5 meters distance, you dont have to break it as it will reset, they gain 15% haste for 3 seconds and then the regular 100% → Takes you 9 seconds to hit them
To provide a visual per second:

They can stack it with Lithe, sure, but why would you use Lithe with Throttle when you can just use Lithe. To re-use the pallet later?

Like, survivors cannot control the activation. When they fast-vault, the pallet resets and get's blocked. That's it. By the time a survivor is forced to fast-vault a pallet, they tend to be within hitting range of the killer.

So you only want to use this in 3 scenario's
    1. You're not in chase and quickly reset a nearby pallet for later use (handy against killers like Houndmaster and Twins)
    2. You have a significant distance on the killer and want to deter the killer from chasing you (in which case, minimal wasted time to the killer)
    3. You are in a relatively dense area and that 3 seconds allows you to rotate, because you need the pallet in the area for later (mainly indoor maps like Lery's, The Game and Midwich, I dont see that happening on Coldwind).

It can be really powerful, yes, especially against weaker killers that have been in desperate need of a buff since 2021 (in case of any devs watching this, we really want Pig's dash to be able to break pallets, and for Trapper to have bloody coil basekit(and also maybe honing stone basekit in 2v8)). But overall, it really isnt as strong as it appears to be.

Based on very little practice with it myself, I'd say this will get used in maybe 5% of games, which is still significantly higher than average, but it's benefits are quite niche.
Lithe is better without resetting the pallet, WoO is better. The 15% haste is terrible in combination with any other forms of haste. It's only benefit is that it doesnt cost you exhaustion. You heavily rely on pallets not being broken as any pallet you drop in chase is not really a pallet you want to be vaulting unless the killer mindgamed you hard.

I feel like this is the majority of newer Survivor perks that get talked about. They're fun sometimes, but never practical for consistent play. The earliest perks are still the most viable and will see the most usage, barring a few exceptions. Still fully expecting them to get nerfed too, which will also cut down on how much we see them.

People like to pretend this isn't true, but the proof is in the pudding for me.

Anything that skews towards Killers always gets mass downvoted around here, even if its the most lukewarm take ever.

Honestly, depends on the day and the time, I've seen anything skewed towards survivor get burned at the stake and everything killer related get praised. I've seen the opposite happen too.

I've seen people praise self-pickups being basekit near unfinished gens (which, IMO should happen, makes early game slugging practically impossible, makes slugging in the 2v1 impractical but slugging in a 1 gen scenario still viable but not guaranteed), I've seen people oppose it heavily as they consider any form of basekit self-pickup too strong.
The same is true for basekit Kindred, Corrupt Intervention, Flip-Flop, Fire-Up, Tenacity(the self-recovery while crawling, and perhaps increasing crawling speed by 15%), Soul Guard (just a 5 seconds endurance to counter slug-camping), Whispers(it would be so good to have this basekit, it's such a cool mechanic that no one uses today because it's not worth the perk slot), Monstrous Shrine.

I could go on, there are a lot of things that would 100% improve the game long-term that both get praise and get burned at the stake, depending on when you post it.

you should not care about upvotes or downvotes . Just give your feedback and call it a day . It's the world wide web afterall.

Downvotes is just who saw your post and generally used to signify agreement or disagreement without going to the trouble of typing out a response. Tone is plays a huge part, as well. If people don't like the 'vibe' of what you typed, they'll hit the big old down arrow without considering much of the content.

I tend not to engage with downvotes all that much. I will only do so if I believe what is being posted actively makes the forum a worse place (abusive, rude, needless tribalism, derailing from the thread etc.).

    On Throttle?

I don't think it's busted, however I think it'll be a perk that will annoy me on both sides, and whether or not it gets real value will be a toss up.

you can combine it with lithe and that shack pallet will hurt in 1 minute as much as it does the first time. right after saying "we don't intend to change pallet density" this perk feels like a slap in the face

  • Rokku_Rorru

    Diminishing returns says hello

it's still a pallet blocked off for 60s

  • linusmilz
    linusmilz Member Posts: 23

the lithe issue isnt stacking speed. the issue is having lithe activate at all, making it even more free than it already is. any means is balanced because it punishes killers for not kicking pallets. throttle doesnt give you a chance.

and after 60s its a pallet again. that can again be used to activate lithe and be reset and after another 60s its shack pallet the third and so on and so on. this perk is horribly designed, lets be real

So you're saying Lithe is an issue? It's not the new perk then? Technically speaking you'd get the same distance as you did without it, arguably more if the killer kicked the pallet, but if you lift the pallet up you can just keep going after them, potentially keeping bloodlust too:

-What if you are a mobility killer you can rush them down anyways
-If there is another survivor nearby, they can't use that pallet, the other player has made it difficult for them

Like it's too early to tell rn, It's something new and unique, if you were Jason you can punish the vault to begin with, with the spear too and huntress. Let survivors have something new for once.

i think you dont want to understand the issue of "reset a pallet with 0 counterplay from the other side", do you?

Vaulting a pallet takes 1.1 second and a pallet is a hell of a lot shorter than 4 meters, it's maybe 2 meters (event that's a stretch its probably 1-1.5 meter across) from one vault point to the other. Survivor run speed is 4m/s, so you vault the pallet, during which the killer gains on you a couple meters, then you get 15% haste for 3 seconds, which no where near makes up for the distance you lost actually vaulting the pallet. If you were to start from the same position, then side by side compare just running through a pallet vs vaulting over it, you essentially gain no time on the killer at all because those 3 seconds where the killer isn't gaining on you were lost in the ~2 meters of distance you lost actually vaulting the pallet. The counter play to the perk, is to literally chase them through the pallet, it is essentially no different to them having not thrown the pallet in the first place. If someone is able to reset the pallet and then make it to another loop, they also could have just not thrown the pallet in the first place and gone to the other loop for the same effect.

sure, and after I get stunned with the new bigger pallet hit boxes from 3.miles away it's even more free

If anyone thinks that the new survivor perks are anything close to be busted then I'm worried about facing the same perks for another 5 years, talking about perks we've faced for 5 years.

Most killers just say "I don't like thing" and leave it at that. (see the OP of this very thread)

If you want to think of, like, some kind of reason for your opinion, that might get you some upvotes, but that is 100% optional when it comes to getting BHVR to listen to you, so I get why most people forget that part, lol
