What is your opinion about Kaneki
I want to hear what people think of Kaneki
What they like, and what they don't like.
I'll begin, his leap cooldown when not attacking is awfully low. Why on earth does he has the right to come super fast to you, get a 0.5sec cooldown and hit you for free.
Tbh, it's the only thing bugging me about him

I think he is okay as a killer. Not overly strong but good mobility. I want to say I don't mind facing him but frankly, the way so many Kaneki mains play him and those screams make me want to stop playing the game for the day. Hearing the TR at the start of a match just makes me sigh.
I always tell them ggwp at the end of the match but in my head I'm thinking, please play any other killer. That said, for any Kaneki mains here, don't let survivors tell you what you can or can't play. It is BHVRs fault for making a poorly designed killer, not your fault for playing them.
17 -
The cooldown on leaps coming back seems to be something that can be toned down. They never feel the need to conserve their power, just leap around the entire game, find someone, leap again for free injure, leap again for body block/vault etc. Its always available.

I wish they'd change the latch on bite to only work on injured survivors rather than in general, in order to remove the free injury Kaneki gets and force Ghouls to learn how to effectively slide cancel.
The ability to bite survivors then exclusively becomes a means to power up, and Ghoul becomes entirely centered on mastering his unique form map traversal and how to use it in chase.
7 -
These two thoughts accurately sum up how I feel about him. He's far less toxic then when he was when he first released and how extremely overtuned he was, forcing everyone to run MFT otherwise suffer the consequences.
I'm still not a fan of how quickly he can attack after leaping, even Billy has a moment between missing a chainsaw and revving it that allows you to decide your course of action, no killer in this game gets to use their power and then damn near immediately M1 after it and on top of all that, every Kaneki/Rize adopts the same strategy so often it makes me want to pry open their brains to see if they have an OUNCE of originality or gamer spirit beyond "Play super competitve, super toxic and tell anyone who loses to you to cope and cry harder."
Hearing his TR makes me rethink my choices of getting on DBD for the day and especially after a long string of matches, sometimes, I consider just giving up or afking right there. (Not that I ever do that, but, it's valid contemplation.)11 -
I hate him.
Me after the game gives me multiple kens/ rizes back to back10 -
This sounds like a good change, one of my main issues with ghoul he gets his first hit free into mending with no effort and no counter, even legion has counters to his frenzy.
10 -
Honestly, they fixed my main problem with him (the ability to hit you after pallet vaulting).
I actually think he's pretty fun to face now. I don't go, "Oh boy, Ghoul!" when I hear his terror radius, but I've been surprised at how much fun my Ghoul matches have been lately.
-13 -
Ghoul has very short leap cancel cooldowns he can leap at you cancel and wait 1.5 seconds and hit you it's ridiculous and needs to follow the other killers attack cooldowns of 3-4 seconds
Ghoul in-between leaps can hold his power for 5 seconds and move faster then a Wesker can with both his Egg and loose crank add-ons Wesker mains should know what I'm talking about. So Ghouls in-between leaps needs to be shorter and move slower.
People absolutely hate the grab attack we hate that it keeps you in place it should either just bite us and we continue running while he enrages and or just rework it maybe more like nemesis where he has to infect first before he can damage.
Ghoul is also buggy af and people hate that Grab attacks can hit you through objects and walls their needs to be fixed and more validations to this.
12 -
Kaneki is boring AF, just like Legion. Nobody enjoys going against brainless free hits and mend simulator.
17 -
- Kaneki is awfully loud.
- The first hit is even more free than Legions
- His map mobility has almost no limits resulting in most people tunneling without any punishment or descision making
- His cooldown after using power is too low, often leaving you with literally no counterplay if the map isnt stacked
- Grab attacks sometimes still hit through objects, which adds to the cheap feeling when playing against them.
Just like with Nurse, I dont think this killer can be salvaged. The core design is fundamentally flawed.
31 -
id like to see them in 2v8
-22 -
Kaneki does need Audio balancing and just lowered in general
Either just make him a mobility killer only or make it so only Marked people can take damage from grab attacks.
Needs Anti Camp protections
Increase his cooldowns
Tweaking and Validations for unfair hits in place
9 -
The first hit enables so many unhealthy builds like Blood Favour/Dissolution, paired with his mobility is horrible to face.
He is also way too effective at tunneling coz his first hit stuns the survivor removing their endurance and also denying them use of dead hard etc, it's way too effective and needs dealt with.
His mobility and first hit are way too strong.
If he was changed I'd be playing the game a lot more often again, he is the sole reason rn I can't stand playing DBD for long periods of time/outside of 2v8 and events13 -
I dont have a problem with The Ghoul. Cant get a 100% escape with him but dont hate or d/c against him either when i play survivor
-6 -
Still not his biggest fan, but he is infinitely more manageable now than he was on release, I'd say most of my frustrations surrounding him come from how well his power combines with certain chase perks.
2 -
He's not fun.
Unfun =/= OP.
He's the perfect storm of very restrictive on survivor decisions, obnoxious sound/visual design and, by virtue of being so unpopular, having players that lean into his reputation because they're not gonna be liked regardless of how they play (cannot blame them for this.)
Problem is, because he isn't OP, discussing how garbage he feels to go against for most players always has the discussion shift more towards his balance. People dismiss valid criticism of how annoying he is to face by presuming the survivor positions for them, and I think this defensiveness comes from the unfortunate fact that… He's just fun to play as (if you play on mute).
I can escape a Ghoul, but I didn't enjoy the process of doing so. That's the problem.Post edited by zonkednb on19 -
Personally, my issue with Kaneki currently is the Deep Wound. Deep wound should only apply if the bitten survivor is injured.
Aside from this, i believe he is in a very good spot, balance wise. He is the biggest number stomper in the game currently but i believe with time people will get better on how to play against him - as they already are doing.

What are we supposed to think? Just another unhinged killer who kills for no reason. It’s obvious he needs a very heavy penalty in the case you mentioned, and going even further, with all the advantages he has, he’s a killer who should be at 4.4 if you don’t want to change anything else.
Otherwise, what happens is exactly what’s happening now: while the killer gets an insanely entertaining experience, the rest of the players — in this case the Survivors — neither have fun nor even want to play the match.
Behaviour doesn’t have a ######### clue how to balance the game. It took them years to put Blight at 4.4, and it’s obvious what’s going on. You can’t get blood from a stone. Show the statistics and then we’ll talk.
5 -
This is by far the worst part about him. I remember when Hillbilly had basically no cooldown after a miss. Then Behavior very slightly increased his cooldown and it made him so much more manageable to play against. I really don't understand why they can't do something similar for Ghoul and make it take slightly longer before he can M1 you.
8 -
Exactly Devs and mandy even said his killrate is Normal and see no problem with him even though EVERYONE hates playing against him so they ain't gonna do jack
12 -
As much as I dont like Ghoul, and trust me, I really dont like them. Making them 4.4 doesnt solve the issue. With Blight, making him 4.4 was only logical. He can down survivors with his power. Ghoul cant do that.
Making Ghoul 4.4 would make it so they rely on getting cheap hits by jumping to the survivor before they can get anywhere because they cant really get a hit in loops anymore.
4.4 killers should be able to down with their power.
As I said, Ghouls power is so fundamentally flawed imo, that it needs a lot more than simple number changes to even try to fix them.
2 -
Post nerfs hes literal B tier. He was A tier pre cooldown after pallet break but he gets looped by decent survivors and struggles on indoor maps. If youre getting body blocked then that means youre just trying to hold W which you cant do against him. Bad survivors got him nerfed to begin with and he didnt need one. His power was already lackluster to begin with lol
-13 -
The statistics dont tell you anything when bad survivors give up. Almost all the stats in this game are flawed because of survivors quitting early, artificially inflating kill rates. Most killers in this game arent even at 50%
-12 -
So far from the truth with Dissolution + Blood Favor, and his Bamboozle add on, people keep forgetting glaring problematic options the killer has.
He does need changed, the community pretty much agrees on it, there is no one i know who doesn't hate ghoul.9 -
in the words of someone whose name i cant remember. "Kaneki is a mess that never should have made it to the live servers"
11 -
The survivor community that has never played as him at high mmr lol. Thats who bhvr always listens to so it would be on brand if he gets another nerf. They dont listen to the actual veterans in this game. Play against any decent survivors at high mmr and youll get it dude otherwise you have no clue what youre talking about
-10 -
So then by that logic you don't either correct?
8 -
A lot less frustrating than what he was, I personally still don't like him and probably never will but I can admit he's in a reasonable spot now.
It's probably another Skull Merchant situation where even though he's been mostly balanced out the community at large will never stop hating him and calling him OP and this is why what happened with Skull Merchant set a terrible precedent because now we think we can just force killers we don't like into F tier if we complain enough.
-5 -
Facts he is most balanced he ever was now and its mostly just hate because his antiloop got huge nerf and against good loopers he has not much.
-8 -
That's not really an arguement when you have no idea of knowing you're at it lol
3 -
Not sure what youre on about and dont really care. Hes trash in chase. I dont care what tier your favorite streamer tells you hes in to be honest. He is leagues worse now with his cooldowns. Hes in trash b tier with clown and deathslinger

If you can read your own point you used MMR as your arguement, what is your MMR, do you know?

I'm still firmly in the camp that ghoul needs a longer fatigue when canceling the power
17 -
I don't believe it is "Normal", no one should believe any word coming from their mouth.
8 -
His grab attack has just gotta be changed like Nurse was where it doesn't proc perks
His grab attack shouldn't lock survivors in place anymore
7 -
I feel like it need to just be a special attack that hits when it lands next to you with the first hit, the lock on needs to go entirely, you should have to connect a hit, not a ranged attack.
1 -
Im with you on this 100%. His leap cooldown is actually ridiculous, he just zooms across half the map, and still gets to swing at you for free a second later.
If he’s going to have that much mobility, he shouldn’t also get baby‑low recovery on top of it, it makes playing against him feel more annoying.
I do like his character design and music though! Amazing and well done.10 -
Games with DCs are excluded from the official stats, and those matches are usually killer wins. If anything, stats are deflated by the DC matches being cut. And Ghoul is the DC king.
You keep making this claim about these unproveable low kill rates so back it up with your own stats. Are all your killers at 50% or lower?
Post edited by cogsturning on11 -
Dc but giving up? Thats not always dc rather just survivor stops fighting for his survival and lets the killer finish him asap.
I highly doubt these are excluded from official stats because how would you even possibly exclude them in first place?
These make few % or ten % of kill rate I believe that especialy against unfavored characters which ghoul is now number 1 because merchant is mostly gone and only few of her mains and enjoyers actualy play her (whou would wanna play f-tier killer, worst killer right now dam even trapper can actualy do something like deffend basement and merchant cant do much).
Dc can be excluded but not if survivor gives up and another question rises up what about abandons are they acounting them too as dc or not? So many things are unclear there but I dont think its normal for killer that his kill rate increases when he gets actualy weaker maybe people jumped more from blight to ghoul because blight now actualy takes skill and is perfect and ghoul gets very simular power but is easier at base, weaker but easier.
Ghostface I bet is low or killers like this but depends on mmr.
This was last time we got whole picture at one mmr which they now show top 5 for high and average mmr
you can clearly see that top 1 (or 2 by todays understanding or comp blights and his hug tech being thing in that year plus og addons like compound 33+ alchem ring being at their peek condition yet everyone was blind to it especialy of how powerfull they are) killer in the game being worst in killing survivors on average so we dont know much from these stats devs show now only just who is problematic to face and who doesnt suck that much probably and thats it.
-8 -
It's rare people give up in my matches unless they're already doomed. The outcome is the same. The ones that have people who throw from the beginning I personally either give someone hatch or let the rest of them go. Lots of people also play like that. So not all matches with throwers are killer wins.
It wouldn't be possible for them to exclude matches with abandons because that's basically every match. There'd be no data.
Are we really going to talk about data from 2022? This is a whole different game now. What we do know from the current official stats is that Ghoul was the only killer with both a high pickrate and a high kill rate. That is problematic.

So not all matches with throwers are killer wins.Maybe in yours but average mmr joe who plays ghoul? Do you think people still dont give up when they arent loosing they are just mad because sometimes I even get this so I highly doubt because you dont meet this in your games that it doesnt happen in someones else games.
It wouldn't be possible for them to exclude matches with abandons because that's basically every match. There'd be no data. This, so how much the data are accure this makes it mysterious because if they dont exclude abandons we cant be sure for 100% that its legit. Games without abandons could end up sometimes differently its small number compare to abandons when all are sluged or its last two or one and mori is in play but still a thing that can make difference like lets say in 5% who knows.
Are we really going to talk about data from 2022? This is a whole different game now. What we do know from the current official stats is that Ghoul was the only killer with both a high pickrate and a high kill rate. That is problematic.Yeah and you think all these nurses got way better? I dont think so, different in what only few perks got changed but its core its mostly same its not so different if we compared 2016/17/18/19/20 DBD that would be different game with og dead hard and none basekit features for survivors like antihook protection (perks were used for that but they just gave endurence not haste on top).
Nurse is weaker actualy then back in 2022 like 2023 patch 6.5.0
- Nerf: any attack following a Blink and before The Nurse succumbs to Fatigue is now considered a Special Attack and no longer activates any effects associated with Basic Attacks. (this is huge nerf because who knows from past knows how nurse was strong with exposed perks like one of weskers perks got super nerfed because of her and others did too, nurse with noed terror that many people forget but dam it was scarier than many oneshots from these days)
and blight isnt nowhere near the state he was back then weaker way weaker basekit and addons. Ghoul stats were picked but stats we get are cherry from top of the cake same with others so we dont see whole picture there canbe killers with very small kill rates maybe same or even smaller then in 2022. Merchant was problematic too not because she was op (before devs took her inside their room and butchered her into todays mess) she had top kill rate and why? Many survivors just gave up not dc just gave up and this in smaller portion (because merchant is played by few people) still happens today I believe many merchant mains would tell you that so you cant take stats as the law that must shape the game always devs did that in old times and we know how it looked like "nerf pig" or billys overdrive etc.
-6 -
Do you think people still dont give up when they arent loosing they are just mad because sometimes I even get this so I highly doubt because you dont meet this in your games that it doesnt happen in someones else games
I mean, I'd never play Ghoul, but when I play against him, it's usually DCs, if anything. Mostly, people just play. Often, when people throw in a match, someone else then DCs. So there goes the stats.
so you cant take stats as the law
I don't. My comment was challenging some nonsense stats from Nightlight or something. I'm also contesting the validity of the official stats, but not that kill rates are lower than we think. How many people have you personally spoken to that play killer regularly and aren't super friendly and have numbers below 60? If I go off what I've seen in this forum, what I've seen from friends, and my own stats, killers are doing way more than fine as a whole.
7 -
Overall Ghoul can feel cheap and most casuals just don't want to deal with it, often resulting in them giving up in the match or disconnecting when possible. Of course some could say this is a skill issue, survivors are entitled etc and occasionally that is correct, but genuinely it feels like BHVR are more concerned with sales (of the killer) rather than wanting to actually do any real adjustments. Drop the auto-aim of the power, it's a simple enough fix, otherwise I would expect ranged killers to also get crosshairs for their projectiles, seems fair right.
2 -
The cooldown is actually 2 seconds btw. not 0.5
-7 -
Dumbest pay to win killer that should have never been a killer.
He's not even a killer, he's an anti-hero. It's as genre destroying as adding Deadpool as a killer.
It's a cash grab.
Everything about this ghoul being added is garbage.
Rather play against nurse. At least nurse takes some skill.2 -
Kaneki is so problematic - we have a killer who is enjoyable to play AS but feels bad to play against.
Killer POV:
- Every mobility killer has advantage, he isn't different.
- Free hits
- You can do some spider-man stuff, that's fun!
- Kinda has skill-gap, sling shots, perfecting body blockingSurvivior POV:
- Free hits feel bad
- Mending
- He can catch-up easily, creates hard time with connecting loops etc
- He has amazing addons, that are hard to play against. With right addons you can literally have 6 great perks equipped (mask and centipede as bbq and bamboozle), addons pair up with perks very well (mask with DMS)Overall in my opinion he is much more manageable after the vault-hit and kidnap-tech nerfed… but he isn't yet fun to go against.
Especially if people do give up or DC against him.10 -
Can he cooldown whilst he is sliding? coz that might be where the issue lies, coz by the time he reaches you it'd be technically shorter. Coz it doesnt feel like long at all, could be a server relaying information late or something idk
