We noticed an issue affecting the amount of Toothy Tortes delivered in the Bloodweb when using the Auto-Bloodweb and Bulk Spending features. This issue is now fixed, but you may need to reboot to see it reflected in-game. We have also slightly increased the number of Toothy Tortes that will appear in the Bloodweb.
We know players encountered different issues when playing the Black Banquet Event, and we wouldn't want you to leave the feast still hungry. We'll be providing 5M Bloodpoints to all players, redeemable in your in-game inbox. Thank you for your patience as we worked on these issues, and we hope to see you in The Fog!

A Guide to the Gameplay of The Black Banquet

You’re invited to The Black Banquet, a new event where – over a two course meal – you'll gain delectable effects that’ll help you complete your objectives in the Trial.

Survivor_StartMatch.gif

The Main Course begins promptly at the start of the Trial. One of three meals is randomly chosen for the Menu of the Day, defining that Trial’s effects and kicking things off with a Global Effect for everyone.

Survivor_GrabMorsel.gif

During this course, Survivors can collect Morsels from Dining Carts.

Survivor_EatMorsel.gif

Eat these for a small, personal effect, or work together to fill a Banquet Table with 4 Morsels, and you’ll trigger a stronger Banquet Payoff, affecting all Survivors. It pays to lay out a feast!

Survivor_FillBanquet.gif

On the Killer side, use poison to make easier prey of Survivors, imposing a stamina gauge to their sprinting and making them cough.

Killer_PoisonSurvivor.gif Survivor_Poisoned2.gif

Poison can be thrown at Survivors as a small AoE, or applied to objects like pallets, gens, and even the Banquet’s own portals.

Killer_PoisonDiningCart.gif

It can even be applied to Dining Carts, secretly tainting their Morsels for a time and preventing them from filling Banquet Tables.

Once 4 gens have been completed or a single Survivor remains, it’s time for the Dessert Course.

Killer_EatDessert.gif

During this course, the Global Effect deactivates, Morsels can’t be collected, and Killers can’t use poison. Instead, both roles can interact with Dining Carts or Banquet Tables for a random buff, like Elusive for Survivor or Undetectable for Killer.

Can we get a "balanced" event ever? I'm whole heartedly a survivor main who plays killer for quest completion but fr this is miserable as a casual killer and the survivor side is just bonkers. Got locked behind an invincible pallet in the game map for 45 seconds… twiddle my thumbs while 2 gens popped was great…

Like no offense, but the event itself is legitimately one of the most unfun I have in this mode pl5ayong killer, the survivors gets so many abilities granted which are extremely busted, while the killer gets like almost nothing, poison just barely does anything useful to punish survivors

good job bhvr, unbalanced event number 1045.

Why are we so harshly against making both sides fun and viable for events. Either one side is busted op like with black banquet, or the side is op like with the og anniversary event before it got canned.

The invisibility and portals is far too much and needs to be redone/nerfed. It shouldn't be able to hide survivior scratches or wounded ones blood, that's taking things way too far.

I feel like the event is a little survivor-sided, couldn't we add last years Killer's abilities to the event to this event? I feel like it would even out

We are eating good this year. My quanton gets a banqet and my demodoggo gets a bunch of heads.

i would strongly disagree that killer were the most focused on last year anniversary i believe it was on paper fairly balanced both sides in terms of effects and in game the killer just edge it cause the remote hooking and auto break just made killer a bit more efficient so they can be on survivors more often then normal

But i would argue as well that compare the powers event that killer got last year to Survivor power in this year event that survivor got the biggest win ever and its not even close.

The fact that at all main courses all survivors can get a free health state is insane, killer never got anything like that in any events they never had an ability where they injure all survivors after doing an event task and that just one of the insane effect survivors get!

i cant see any viable defence for this event its not balanced its not fun for killers and back to my original post "for any killer players who see this post avoid this event just take the queue times and play normal that how strong i feel about this event that it is an avoid"

this was meant to celebrate 10 years of DBD of Survivors & KILLERS and killers i can safely say was a 2nd thought with this event which is sad and heartbreaking i hope the devs can do better

Well that's good to know what the poison even does. I realized that it slows people down, but at so random timings that I though they are bugged xD

Also as a feedback, I honestly feel like it's not worth poisoning any carts it just takes time to heavely. I rather chase as fast as possible and try to defend gens :D

Nobody is eating good this year - BP rewards are deliberately minor, cakes are deliberately rare and even if they fixed this tomorrow (they won't, it'll be in like mid July), everyone already spent that big BP reward.

On top of this, the poison feels glitchy and often like it just doesn't hit right while survivor abilities are absolutely ridiculous - I've had one SWF basically go invulnerable during a chase via frequent health states and…something with medkits maybe? I've also been trapped for extended periods of times by survivors making pallets go invulnerable on maps with no way out of rooms unless you break a pallet - and they can use this to semi take you hostage.

    Who designed this?

That said, thanks for this OP, I was a little confused by the way poison worked.

Omg why didn't I read this first. I was throwing poison at the carts, I didn’t realize i was supposed to walk up and actually select it lol

Quanton mostly served up feasts for others though.

If you managed to lose as survivor on an event like this then I'd really question the skill of survivors here.

This is pretty much a dream Easy Mode for survivor players. You can only lose here if someone intentionally sandbags you or your team mates have a negative IQ values.

Instant invisibility is by far the worst thing of this event. What exactly is a killer supposed to be doing when a survivor goes invisible and doesn't leave any scratch marks or blood behind? Also it's somehow the only effect my games ever get?!?

Also I swear there are way more pallets than usual. Even when survivors are poisoned, they can make it to a new pallet easily… while walking.

I thought nothing could beat the original Blood Moon event in terms of unfun, but this managed to pull it off. Congrats Black Banquet on being the worst of the worst.

Play survivor, save up enough BP to get a cake on killer. Use poison and hope it works right. Repeat.

Why killer ability needs cakes that they deliberately made 95% rarer while survivor abilities don't, I'd love to know why.

Well I think I know, but I won't say it here.

I have forgiven a lot of things in the past.
Y'all gave killer nothing to do in these events and I forgave it, as I don't play events to win.
You've gigabuffed survivor with a bunch of stuff they can do in the event on top of their perks, and I forgave it.

What I cannot forgive is that YOU DOUBLED THE PRICE OF THE ANNIVERSARY CAKES AND MADE THEM VERY RARE!
The past 9 years those cakes have been priced as Commons and no one complained because that's the only time of the year they can be obtained. You did not need to mess with that. This feels like a slap in the face to the people who wanna reduce the grind using these events because they're the best way to do so.

With all due respect, please for the love of The Entity stop fixing what isn't broken or I will personally usurp your General Manager of their position and restructure the entire balance team myself.

You do realize that you get the extra price back after you either exit the bloodweb or it levels up. You are not paying of them more in reality as you get refunded.

I suppose I'lll be back. I like BDB after all. I could and tell my friends about the "cakes"". Just now IU can't "forward the message" in the future, need to use the… well… I don't know… dbd user infetrface

Getting a shadow refund has nothing to do with the fact that the cakes are twice as expensive as they have been for the past 9 years. It's still fixing what isn't broken.

It’s amazing that they could come up with such a ridiculous event—worse than an amateur’s—for a milestone 10th-anniversary celebration.

I could never come up with an event like this, so I really have to admire them.

Why even bother with this event at all as killer? It is so laughably even easier to play survivor ESPECIALLY in this event. The survivor experience is (and probably will always be) pressure-free I tell you.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the event survivor abilities (especially invisibility) make it into the actual game.

This event feels like killers are eating old pb&j’s at school while the survivors get a whole free Pizza Hut party complete with hot wings and sodas.

  • bonkk
    bonkk Member Posts: 15

The event is miserable, and it is a complete joke for a game's 10th anniversary.

    • It gets stale fast as survivor. What is there to do, really? Run to carts for a buff that is predetermined and announced at the start of the match. Put four plates of food on a table for a global buff and heal. Same thing, over and over. There's no shock, no trick, no surprise. Just a buff after a stale interaction with an environment object. After about 1 hour of gameplay, I switched over to killer. More on that later.
    • Survivor objects don't give confetti after use. Flashlights, toolboxes, medkits. It's just the same item with a recolor. Thanks for the changed flashlight light, I guess.
    • For whatever reason, devs made cakes harder to get, then hid behind the choice by calling it a "bug." We know it was intentional, you had the same "mistake" last year and stated it was intentional.
    • Killer is not only a humiliation ritual in the event queue, but is functionally no different than normal queue. How do you manage to make killer less fun in the game's most anticipated event? There is NO interaction in the event for killer other than throwing a bottle of poison. Throwing a fart poison bottle can be strong when used right, but that's not really the point. It feels uninspired. You just gave us a modified version of clown's bottle and said "here's your slop, piggies." Poisoning the tables does little and, again, feels completely uninspired. Wow, poisoned food that realistically does nothing in the long run. Fun. Most games, I just ignored the tables. There was no reason to go out of my way to poison something that a coordinated team could get around anyway.
    • Survivors are so, so strong in this game mode. I say this as someone that plays more survivor than killer, but still plays both roles (60-40, about). The biggest problem for most killers is the instant invisibility, the unbreakable/reseting pallets, and the instant global heal. The "eat morsel" giving you a free boost akin to old deadhard without exhaustion doesn't feel too great either. Of course, while playing survivor, these boosts were sometimes fun, but it felt scummy as someone that knows exactly what the killer would go through when I essentially cheesed the chase with no input or counterplay on their end.

For a game that I've enjoyed since mid-2018, this event was exciting to see in the livestream. After playing it for 2 days, I have no real desire to queue up in the event. This coupled with the "fixed" cake rarity (that didn't really change anything, by the way), leaves a sour taste in my and a lot of other players mouths.

Should be ashamed for how bad this event is you really expect this to bring back players that is supposed to be the big 10 anniversary event?

    • The bugged cakes giving so little it had to be intentional since you did the same thing last year you have no excuse there's no way it was a bug unless someone is blind and useless that couldn't see that the cakes were very rare instead of common like all the anniversary event cakes.
    • The most survivor sided event that has ever been done getting all these new temporary powers. Unbreakable pallets be the worst one ever. Killers on The Game with all the god pallets and any other strong pallet on other maps traps the killer into a forced lost situation.
    • Only thing killer is getting a discounted clown bottle? This is all nothing but a big FU towards killers.
    • Stop being so stingy with giving players blood points. The game is only getting more and more bloated stop treating the players like disposable minimum wage workers and start respecting the players and just give them a raise in blood points.

I've played since Oni release. I've seen many highs and lows from the devs. Seen you take steps forward up the stairs that improve the game but almost always fall off the stairs right back down because you refuse to fix the broken stairs!

Terrible arguement. It was bad then and it's bad now. These things should be balanced, not so one sided that half the userbase would rather just play the normal mode.

My tip for the Black Banquet is to burn a Toothy Torte, other anniversary cake or a Bloody Party Streamer every game. This helps everyone get more cakes to keep the cycle going. Using cakes makes more cakes.

If you don't have any of those use Escape! Cakes, Survivor Puddings or other blood point offerings so you can buy and use Tortes. Don't waste your offering slot on non-bloodpoint offerings like maps or luck.

The cake earnings might not be as amazing as previous years but matches are still cake positive. Even if you are the newest survivor having the roughest of matches you are going to be earning 5x what you usually earn so make the most of it. You will earn back the cakes you spend and more on top of that, so please do us all and especially yourself a favor and burn a cake every match of DbD you play during the Black Banquet.

Also you may want to avoid bulk-spending your bloodpoints if you want to get all the cakes that spawn in your bloodwebs. I just tested this after that big red notice at the top of the page went up and it still misses cakes, so beware.

Can you please remove this mode early? On both sides, this is the most boring thing I've ever done in this game. I don't think there is any adjusting that can be done to save it.
