Black Banquet Update
As the Black Banquet is in full swing, we wanted to take the time to address some of the issues that have been raised within the community.
Offering Spawn Rate: The current spawn rate is working as intended, providing enough Offerings to guarantee one per Trial while still allowing players to build up a reserve. With the previous issues now fixed, the current rate is slightly higher than for last year's Event, and Auto-Bloodweb and Bulk Bloodpoint Spending
now prioritize the Offering.
Offering Rarity: We will be decreasing the rarity of the Event Offering to Common in the bugfix patch coming next week, reducing the Bloodpoint price of the Offering in the Bloodweb.
We know this may differ from previous Events, and while the changes are intended and reflect our vision for future Events, we understand the frustration. However, this isn't meant to be any less of a celebration!
Get ready for a Bloodhunt starting tomorrow to help you make the most of the Event with 2 x Bloodpoints from all matches until July 7.
Log in any time between July 3, 11AM ET, and July 16, 11AM ET to get unique The Trapper and Dwight Fairfield Cosmetics as party favors for our 10th Anniversary.
Thank you for joining us in The Fog, we hope to see you around the table of The Black Banquet!

"Our visions of future events" … I hope this event will never come back. Even the consultants say that the event is a brokem mess.
60 -
I guess this is better than nothing. The event is not well received by the community so maybe this might help.
I’ll take any extra blood points I can get.
-7 -
But nothing addressing the balance problems of the actual event itself.
Could there be a statement about that too, perchance?
34 -
you should know by now that bhvr waits until the year after to do any balance changes to the event. That’s exactly what just happened with Blood Moon. they need all the feedback from this event in order to do the necessary changes for next year’s Black Banquet.
-13 -
You're not wrong, I am certainly not expecting any major changes coming this iteration for the 2 remaining weeks.
But at least an acknowledgment would be nice.
5 -
I guess I just don't really understand what the point is of making the offerings less common than previous events. Reducing the bloodpoint cost is nice but it doesn't make up for the lower amounts of bloodpoints that are being gained since the offerings are less common. I know I'm being harsh but I have played this game since 2021 and this is by far the worst anniversary event that I've been a part of since then, not only is the bloodpoint economy worse but the event gameplay itself is bad. Poison is uninteractive to face and everything else about the event is just survivor sided so it's just not fun on either side imo. I went straight back to normal queue as soon as I finished the challenges
10 -
Hey Mandy, thanks for the update.
It's pretty disheartening that none of the balance feedback seems to have been taken into consideration yet as the offering situation aside that is what most people are taking issue with. I know I've gone back to the regular queue because I don't see the point in playing the event queue when it's so massively imbalanced and unfun for one side
6 -
By logic it means they now spawn on the common offering slots so they are going to be more common by random but you will still get them on the blooweb levels you are guaranteed to have one.

The balance is a mess. No one says anything about that.
What the killer gets:
1. throwable poison, survivors get hindered
2. PortalsWhat survivors gets:
- Free sprint burst
- invincibility
- invisibility
- 4 meals placed on the table: 1 full healt state. Every time you put the 4 meals on the table!
- Portals
- 60s UNBREAKABLE Pellets (what a joke)
- Refill Item
Sounds fun an fair for the killer.
8 -
i get that. they really have been radio silent on the actual event ever since it started. hopefully they are making a LONG laundry list of things that need to improve for next year🙏🏾
6 -
Why were they very rare in the first place?
21 -
While it "isn't meant to be any less of a celebration" it is less of a celebration. It also is empty words when you are refusing to fix the cake issue people have been very clear in telling you has made this not feel like a celebration. It has now been 2 years of players telling BHVR they are unhappy with the decision regarding the lack of cakes. Rather than making it better we get a stubborn response of it's "our vision of future events." If the "vision of future events" is frustrating people by being stingy with the single thing everyone looks forward to it is a pretty bad vision.
20 -
"the current rate is slightly higher than for last year's Event"
What, this is just a lie huh?????29 -
Last year killers would get 250 cakes for 5m, this year killers get 135.
That statement was weird.
15 -
The pricing will be fixed, not the actual spawn rate, which is the major reason behind the outcry.
15 -
Lowering cake rarity ≠ solving scripted cakes issue
15 -
This feels like a mistake, but I guess we'll see over the next two weeks. The Community will make its mind up on how to respond by then, I'm sure.
1 -
The wording sounds like the cakes will just be cheaper but still uncommon to get? No one was complaining about the price. They're complaining about the drop rate. It's hard to say it's still a celebration when people are this angry about something easily repaired and that reeks of greed.
19 -
Ya'll expecting a balance update for this event when there hasn't been a balance patch this YEAR yet.
Couldn't do one in January, because that was for ST chapter.
Couldn't do one in February because that was for Trickster 'rework.'
Couldn't do one in March or April because that was for diminishing returns which was promised to have its own post-update fixes that still haven't come.
Couldn't do one in May because that was for Jason chapter.
Couldn't do one in June or July because that was for Anniversary.
Won't be doing one in August because that's for Grimoire chapter.
So maybe in September if you're lucky, and they don't say that the Halloween event is taking too much time. MAYBE.

In other words, this is a lie.
Even last year, you could expect to see 2-3 cakes per web, which was the intended drop rate, as it has been for the past 7 years (since the third year anniversary - and yes, I have been keeping track of it all).
Cake spawn rates has never been scripted until this year. The only issue we had last year was the incorrect pricing, due to the rarity system being changed, where the cakes got incorrectly assigned the Visceral rarity.
So even still, we could stockpile cakes for the next year of playing. That is not as possible now, if I were to play a similar amount of matches to last year's event, I would probably end up with a total of 260-280 cakes, which will only last 3-4 months.Hold on a minute.. cakes.. lies… Portal references?
14 -
we're aware of issues with the gameplay, unfortunately we have no planned changes for during the Event, this is a first iteration of a new type of Event and the feedback is going back to Designers for future iterations.
-27 -
the offering rarity isn't connected to its drop rate, just the cost of the item.
-30 -
I'm having fun as killer and survivor. To many people complaining and being sour for no reason.
I honestly hope that the devs stop working on events. So many people complaining about this event should show them how unappreciative you complainers are.
👀👀
-29 -
And that was with auto-spending not prioritizing cakes as well.
Manually spending, you could easily see 70-80 cakes in one prestige.13 -
I think 70-80 is high, but 50 were totally reasonable.
To say that my ~20 per prestige right now are higher than last year's is just a blatant lie.10 -
18-20 per prestige as survivor is not great.
But yes, last year with manual spending, 70-80 cakes per prestige was not uncommon.
So, this year, it has been reduced by around 4 times for survivor, and 3 times as killer.6 -
It's gonna be like 2v8 isn't it? 😫 This iteration isn't very engaging for either side, but I see it becoming something in the future where Killer is heavily compensated to the extent that it's more or less 1v4 with a very slight twist.
5 -
is that Legion in the background drinking away their depression?
4 -
I really don't get it. it's the 10year mark. Last year, they said they were ending the Twisted event because something new was coming for the 10th anniversary. Again, it's 10 years; I expected something revolutionary—a commemorative skin for each original character, for FREE, something that would truly leave everyone jaw-dropped. Instead, we got a broken event and the company stubbornly insisting that the offering drop rate is the same as last year's. It’s obvious that it isn't, yet they claim it is. It’s as if they forget we have nearly 100 characters in the game; with every new addition, it takes longer and longer to level up the ones you actually like, simply because there isn't enough time. It’s the same thing every year: we ask for stackable event offerings (like Blood Moon or Halloween) instead of character-specific ones, but nothing ever changes. I have over 1,000 Blood Moon offerings on my Trickster—and for what? I can't even use them. Yet, for the anniversary, they won't allow that? These are just unjustifiable excuses. It’s exhausting—every event, every year, the same problems and requests, yet they never listen, and they never surprise us with something truly GOOD. You’ve turned the game's most important celebration to date into an annoying battle against the very people who have dedicated years and money to it. You dont deserve the community you have
10 -
Why does the title say "Black Banquet Update" when the Black Banquet isn't being changed?
The cakes costing slightly less is, uhh, something, but that's not going to do anything to restore the faith you've lost.
Also, DO NOT mention future iterations of events when the team is publicly refusing to manage the one that's currently running.
All you're doing is adding fuel to the fire.

I've been taking a very LONG break from playing DBD, just perused the forums from time to time, because I wanted to speak the only language BHVR understands: you don't get my money any longer. Especially not after so many of the horrendous changes over the past couple of months.
I came back to play it only because this is the 10th anniversary, was supposed to be big and fun, but to see this:We will be decreasing the rarity of the Event Offering to Common in the bugfix patch coming next week, reducing the Bloodpoint price of the Offering in the Bloodweb.
We know this may differ from previous Events, and while the changes are intended and reflect our vision for future Events, we understand the frustration. However, this isn't meant to be any less of a celebration!Really? The economy IRL is #########, and you're bringing the same nonsense to your game? Giving less BPs whilst raising the prices of items, offerings, add-ons etc. WHILST adding more and more survivors and killers.
It's genuinely as though you guys as a company have decided to add enshittification to your own game. Chappeau! You can look forward to seeing the above quote for as to why I uninstalled your game, again, and for good. Never thought DBD would turn into a pick-me whatwith being the only game on Steam that sends you an entire questionary when you uninstall it.
Here's an idea: don't pretend to listen to what people are saying, but take actual action in making more people wanting to play your game, listen to constructive feedback. Make new players feel like they have a shot and should want to play your game, because it can be fun and fair for them as well.
6 -
I'm not sure I understand BHVR's perspective on this. It's all coming across as dismissive, cavalier, and a bit disrespectfully underhanded with misdirection and vague wordings. But if this is what we get, this is what we get. It would be our fault for having higher expectations. Thankfully, situations like these will assist in contributing to the avoidance of such issues in the future.
Thank you for the update.6 -
Thanks for the Trapper and Dwight skins (Dwight is one of my mains)! I’ve been looking forward to them and they look awesome. But about the cake situation—you definitely should’ve given out more this year. I mean, it’s the 10th anniversary after all. I love DBD, it’s my favorite game, but you could’ve done better. Please take all the feedback from this year’s event and make next year even better. Hope everyone has a great day!
6 -
Thank you for the update mandy!
I am very happy about the cake rarity revert and the bulk/auto bloodpoint spending fix.
I am also looking forward for a future anniversaire event with a banquet for killers too!
-4 -
im gonna say it for what it is: this event was a bust and there's no point to it. cool, DBD made it to 10 years, but there's nothing worthy of celebrating here.
most decisions that have been made were in the benefit of the company, not the players. so yes, you can enforce your "future vision" moving forward, but less and less will people be willing to participate.
31 -
It seems like there's a misunderstanding between the developers and players. People were mostly asking for an increase in the drop rate of the cakes themselves, not the price at which they can be purchased (there are more common offerings, and they're cheaper). If the drop rate really remains the same: 18 cakes for survivors, then it won't make the game any more worthwhile or motivating. On the other hand, thanks for the x2 bloodhunt; at least that better fits the theme of the old anniversaries.
3 -
"No one says anything about that" yet everyone opens a Thread because they think their opinion is the most important one.
And I thought that events dont need to be balanced? This is what was said about past Anniversary Events which favoured Killer… But dont worry, since BHVR is aware now they will, in typical BHVR-fashion, do a complete 180 and Survivors are the main ingredient for the next Black Bankquet event.
-3 -
So you all just decided what the issue that the community had with the offerings and addressed that rather than what people actually wanted because you refuse to go back on this new, disliked intention? And to make up for this change nobody asked for being in the final week of the event, you try to bribe us with 4 days of a bloodhunt (you didn't think it was a fun, celebratory idea to just keep it for the rest of the event?) and in this PR apology, you promote skins that have less than 2 weeks to claim?
Over all this seems like an anniversary that had all the planning and budget put into the Jason stream, big flashy live event and teasers while the actual game had a bland game mode held together by duct tape and spit. On top of that, the lack of communication not just regarding the event and these changes, but for the entirety of 2026 so far has been abysmal.
Yes, good job on all the bugs fixed, but it took 6 months for you to finally tell us that any update that features a new killer won't be getting any balance changes. A live service game… that balances itself every 3 months… and most of those will be changing at most 4 perks, slight killer buffs by making an add-on partially basekit and nerfing said add-on, or nerfing a killer and slightly buffing some add-ons. Even Ubisoft realised that balancing by nerfing or buffing only wasn't fun or overall healthy, and then also increased the frequency at which they balance. Meanwhile we're going one step forward and one step back which makes us fall down a flight of stairs.
When large content creators that play your game are taking frequent breaks from playing when modes like 2v8 come out, completely ignore playing one side like Killer in the Banquet, or others just abandoning the game entirely because its always one disappointment after another, you really got to wonder just how long this game actually has if it carries on this way.
6 -
I get it, its the first iteration of this new event. But this is also the 10th anniversary and one would think that you would give it the best you can but you didn't.
You made a Food Themed Event, yet Killers don't get any Food related stuff: e.g. they get buffs themselfs for interacting with a table and can maybe recharge their poison on the carts. The Poison is strong (borderline broken on some) but only good for cheap hits. Ofc the Killers whole mechanic is counterable by 2 Perks.Survivors on the other hand get litteral cheats with almost 0 Cooldown. Making Survivor Gameplay boring AF because you get to misplay and still win. On Top of perks that allow you to do that.
So if this is the best you could do: Holy ######### the future is very dimm for DbD.
For future Banquet Events: Who ever designed and greenlit this iteration…please let them not work on future iterations because they clearly have no idea what their doing.
Maybe use your consultants for more than Playtesting new killers and marketing and let them test new Events?
Yes, events don't need to be balanced. They can be goofy & silly with Powerups,Buffs, etc but both sides need to have equal amount of it. Not just one side get a gazillion of things while the other side gets close to nothing. Was not good on the Masquerade and is especially bad on this one.PS: Waiting almost a week to respond to criticism and then tell people they need to wait till next week for an update is not okay.

THE RED LEGACY COSMETICS ARE LOG IN REWARDS???
That's literally the worst thing they could be???
Instead of having them as prestige rewards like everyone said they should be, they're FOMO garbage.
& don't try to feed me that slop that "everybody's prestige rewards need to be equal" because some characters have noticeably better prestige rewards than others, making them distinctly unequal.

I guess the problem will not be solved afterall. It is a lie that we are getting more cakes alredy. Noone would be complaining if that was the case. The reason we wanted the rarity change was because some thought it was tied to spawn rate. Not because it costs more. So now they dodged another attempt at fixing the spawn rate everyone is mad about by going "oh yea we probably can change the rarity down now that the spawn rate is a fixed smaller amount". So the problem was avoided twice. And now we know future events are going to be just as hopeless and noone can collect cakes on all the characters they enjoy playing anymore. Only 1 or 2 characters for the entire event.

Yet I don't get it, the poison is so broken I can play even "Bad" killers this event, the fact unknowns poison and tricksters knives don't remove the poison means I can just set up and kill them with little resistance.
sure they insta heal sometimes but the time to down is so quick it doesnt matter.
Killers keep saying "Survivors aren't as good as they think" well.. sorry to say but it's the other way around, I think killers despite having all the power to adapt, won't.
Like I can say things are annoying sure, but both sides deal with annoying stuff, not to mention I can bet you the stats reflect this. They should share them so far, wasn't this year about being transparent, it'd keep the complainers quiet.4 -
Anything but extra cakes eh? I guess my expectations still aren't low enough. If this is what we can expect next year, I won't be coming back for it. I've got half a dozen games in my Steam library backlog I haven't played yet, that will be changing soon.
4 -
And those "bad" killers are not even the strongest thing you can do with the poison or the hardest you can counter the mode. Plague laughs at the insta-heal and with the poison it doesn't matter that you are M1 most of the time. I am sure everyone that plays survivor has run into poison bubba, billy, or legion by this point. I can agree that some of these strategies are boring and killers should have gotten more to interact with but claiming the event is wildly survivor sided is crazy to me, its a little survivor sided at best.
Everyone acts like survivors get invis, invuln, and speed in every match when each match only gives them one of those and one of action speed, portals, or unbreakable pallets. Some of this is annoying to face for sure but the poison is much more frustrating to me.
On the topic at hand, I wonder how much data BHVR has about the grind in this game and how much it promotes continued play. I don't think they realize that eventually that strategy backfires once people realize they can never complete it. Its not like the game plans to stop adding tons of new characters any time soon.
3 -
Exactly the event is annoying at most and far from unplayable, they clearly know it's fine hense why no changes this year. I just wish they'd release data sometimes to keep people quiet, or even mention the general direction they are heading in, doesn't need to be an elaborate official post.
That way people can stop forcing these extreme narratives.3 -

Tested this out and it simply isn't the case. The issue isn't fixed. The auto-bloodweb and bulk BP spending do not prioritize the offering. Also what is "slightly higher" ? Gotta love the vague phrasing here. Is it 0.01% higher? 0.1%? Because it sure seems like it, I spent 5 million BP to test this nonsense out, and it is still not working as stated.
