Pallet Density and more leads to Killer anxiety (No Hate, but a Real Problem)
I’d like to talk to you guys about pallet density, because I really feel like that’s exactly what was buffed again recently.
It can’t be that, once again, as a Survivor, you only have to run 5 meters or less to the next pallet. Tell me, why do you all hate the Killers so much? Because, in general—and from my personal perspective—it feels like you really want to drive every Killer player away.
In all of my last 10–20 games, I’ve been getting hit in the face with wood despite being careful, because pallets have been spawning in places you wouldn’t expect, among other things, and—as I mentioned—there are way too many pallets on the various maps.
It’s getting more and more frustrating for Killers right now. Survivors don’t need 200,000 training wheels, and from my personal perspective, DBD feels like it’s leaning heavily in that direction right now. I understand you want to make the game more casual-friendly, but here’s my question: is it really necessary to work against an essential aspect of the Killer role to the point where it’s no longer fun?
Unfortunately, among other things, you’re also greatly fueling “killer anxiety” because killers now have to be more afraid of the survivors than the other way around—since there’s a pallet at every damn corner, or a flashlight safe at every turn, or even hooks being removed by survivors.
I’m asking you, Behaviour, to take this problem seriously and look at both roles—especially the killers. Thank you.

If you could avoid pallets 100% of the time why would they even exist?

Most pallets are either trash or easily mindgameable. If this is frustrating for you, thats a skill issue on your end. Cause its nothing a killer couldnt handle with a bit of game sense.
Its funny that people still claim survivor would need training wheels while its actually the other way round. And thats nothing that could be denied.

both can also be true.

thanks chatgpt, very cool
no but seriously, pallet density is such an ironic name for the changes they made, because the problem was never the density of the pallets, it was always the amount. Maps like The Game had too many pallets, and maps like Toba Landing had too few pallets. The pallets being far away from each other meant chaining them in chase required a lot of planning, or you had to just treat the one pallet you were looping like it was your only resource. It required so much more skill in chase that is kind of lost in a lot of maps when I play survivor. I had a particularly braindead game on Suffocation Pit where I just dropped 5 pallets on a Clown that were all within a 20 meter radius of the main building, meaning I could just vault the window, go to a new pallet loop, drop it after 15-20 seconds, go back to the main window, rinse and repeat for all 5 pallets nearby. It eventually started to feel mind-numbing, and I started to pity someone playing Clown for the first time, one of my most hated killers when I was a new player.
It feels like the 'density' change they made on most maps just cranked the amount of pallets up by 15 to 20%, saw that it made more pallets spawn close together, then called it a day. Meaning some maps create RNG dead zones still like before, but then spawn 10 pallets in one corner of the map, when you were lucky to get 10 pallets total on the entirety of Wreckers' Yard.

First of all, this wasn't written by ChatGPT—for anyone who might think that. Also, I get the feeling that so far only Survivor mains have responded here. I'd also appreciate comments from Killer mains, simply because I think some are afraid or have just given up on fighting back against the Survivors' loud outbursts.
Unfortunately, it feels like a fact to me personally that there are more Survivors active on the forum—and that’s totally fine—but this isn’t just about Survivors; it’s about fun for everyone.
I mean, it’s a fact that “Killer Anxiety” exists, it’s a fact that many of you (not all) Survivors deliberately do things to annoy Killers or take the fun out of the game for them—whether through bully squads or other tactics—but also consider that your actions can endanger the game (not immediately). At some point, Killers might turn into bot killers someday, but would the game still be fun for you as Survivors then?
On the flip side, Killer players are currently doing more unpleasant things to you Survivors as well—for example, tunneling, camping, and slugging—but do you know why they’re doing that?
In short, it’s a fact that the community has generally become rather toxic, but that’s the result of everyone’s toxic behavior. If people could play rounds without toxicity—so that everyone could finish the game having fun—there would be significantly less tunneling, slugging, or camping, even though these behaviors will still exist and change takes time to take effect.
To address the point of why Killers resort to tunneling, slugging, or camping—well, that’s also because Killers face extreme pressure, whether from Gen Rush or simply from bullying behavior. You mustn’t forget that the Killer is on their own against four opponents; it’s a 1-on-4 situation.
This forces the Killer to play in a way that really rubs many Survivors the wrong way. The problem is that Survivors aren’t afraid of the Killer anymore—something that’s becoming more apparent, for example, with fewer pallets, because then Survivors have to play more tactically again.
As for Gen Speed, that’s a different issue. I think it needs to be readjusted and slowed down a bit, but my main concern here is the number of pallets and the existing “killer anxiety.”

"Comments from killer mains." So you want the biased perspective? There aren't more survivors in the forum. Most people play both. Most of the pallets are crap amd hard to get value out of. They don't bother me as killer and barely help me as survivor. If you'd like to reduce pallets in the form of garbage 50/50s and exchange them for strong loops than yeah, let's reduce the pallets but make all of them worthwhile. Do you want the main building nerfs rescinded too? The map sizes unshrunk? I kinda doubt it.
Is the new trend going to be saying "killer anxiety" every time people want something nerfed?
The problem is that Survivors aren’t afraid of the Killer anymore
This mentality is the problem right here. People want the survivors to run in terror from them and not be bold like it was when they were 100 hours in. The fear goes away and the killer doesn't feel the power they desire anymore. They aren't going to be scared of you if they know how to play. It's just a fact.

It’s interesting, then, that some people here think “killer anxiety” doesn’t exist, even though it unfortunately does.
So far, I’ve seen nothing but negativity in these posts—arguments against my personal feeling that something’s off with the pallet density. So I’m seriously asking you: how can it be that, on every map I’ve played recently, I feel like I see a pallet every 5 meters? Something must have been secretly increased again, and many people just don’t want to see it.
Like I said, it’s not hate or anything, but as a Killer main, I just notice this kind of thing. I bring it up, and then I just get hated on again for pointing it out—that’s actually the wrong way to handle it. All the games I’ve played lately have been so frustrating for me; like I said, I’ve been getting a pallet thrown in my face every 5 meters.
Playing as a Killer just isn’t fun anymore this way. Chases are dragged out by pointless predrops—you’re hanging onto a Survivor during a chase, predrop, predrop, predrop, predrop, predrop—and that’s not the point of the game. Where’s the fun in the chase and the cool moments? Even the loops aren’t fun anymore sometimes because there are endless double pallets or something like that.
Like I said, I can understand that you want to make the game more casual-friendly, but right now it’s coming at the expense of the fun for killers. You can see it in the 10-Year Anniversary Event, too—it’s extremely unfriendly to killers in some parts. You must have noticed that as well. Where, exactly, is the fun in playing as a killer these days?
At least I don’t find playing as the Killer fun anymore, which is really sad, and yes, I suffer from this “Killer Anxiety” too, but I don’t want to have to give up the Killer role either, which is why I’m making this post. I want people to see the problem—and the problem here isn’t me; the problem is “Killer Anxiety” and the feeling that pallets have been popping up on the maps more frequently since the last few patches.Like I said, right now it’s like this: you’re in a chase, and then it starts—predrop, predrop, predrop, predrop, predrop—without even being able to land a hit on the survivor, while 2–3 generators are being worked on, sometimes all in just one short chase.

Let me ask you why predropping is boring to you? You think I should just keep that pallet up if it means you get a free hit? What constitutes as a "fun chase" for you? Holding W? Pre Running? Running around a rock until you get that guaranteed hit? Double backing around a jungle gym?
A lot of the times, I have to pre drop because a lot of killer designs make it unsafe to keep that pallet up. I'm not looping a rock when a Myers is coming at me at 50mph, I'll tell you that much for free. That's not to say that a lot of survivors predrop just because they feel like own them, and find their first health state so precious. But a lot of the times, it's because I don't want to be instantly downed, or I need the loop to be longer than 2 feet.
Most pallets are pretty bad, and can easily be ignored by the killer's power anyway. Play them right, and they'll get zoned eventually.1 -
"I’m done with this thread. You either ignore the issues Killer players face or actively silence anyone who brings them up. Heaven forbid a Killer asks for balance changes or changes in generell—the community immediately attacks the poster. Sooner or later, you’ll see the consequences of this mindset. Killers deserve to have fun too, but you've completely dismissed that. In the end, the rise of camping, tunneling, and slugging will continue, and that is on this community, not the Killer players."
