What do we think about wraith?
Now that the rift slop tasks ask you to play a few matches of wraith i got into him again. I noticed, that he feels a bit off.
Swift hunt addons are necessary to even hit a survivor out of uncloak. The other option is windstorm to bodyblock them, but thats highly map and structure reliant.
Apart from his clear addon reliance, he also suffers from the usual M1 sickness. He has not that much going for him in the area of chase. He has map control and mobility, even some utility if you wanna count his shadow dance addons, but his chase just lacks so much.
On most tiles your uncloak lunge does not allow for a hit, even if you got pallet control. It's a slippery slope to not make him op in that regard, but in my opinion that aspect of him could use a buff.
What do you think about scrapyard boy now that we play and see him more for a period of time?

I think Wraith's simplicity has actually allowed him to be one of the more balanced killers in the roster. I also think he's the golden boy for M1 killers, as despite being essentially pure M1, he has just enough versatility to outplay strong loops, catch people out of position and force deadzones if played correctly.
He's about as fair as a killer can be in my mind, addon reliance notwithstanding. It's not like Trapper where the addon reliance is based on a single/double iri set up. He can do well with blues and below, and even has some niche uses for his browns.
I also think that he's a really great killer for easing new players into the role. He's very simple and intuitive, teaches you about stealth, about M1 chase, helps make macro easier due to his mobility so you explore maps and learn good pathing and his lunge out of stealth gives you a taste of mind-games and a sort of cobbled-together chase power. Yet, that simplicity doesn't mean an experienced player with a lot of gamesense and control over movement can't be an absolute menace with him. He rewards you from the start all the way to the highest skill brackets, yet isn't Ghoul in terms of free value.

I don't think he's remarkable in any way aside being the most beginner friendly killer. Not a killer with very high skill celling but he does hold up pretty well all things considered. Can be played with hit&run effectively on any map, has good add-ons, great mobility, good stealth, can use almost all perk types.
Like most killers these days (especially after many buffs to healing and nerfs to anti-healing perks) he does deserve buffs, at least blue versions of Swift Hunt & Shadow Dance.

He's not as bad as Hag or Trapper, but not as good as Jason or Blight. I know that's a 'duh' statement but not sure what else to say about him. I enjoy playing him on occasion but seldom win with him. He feels too slow in his chase down to compete against gen times, and lacks pressure to secure longer stretches. But I'm also not terribly gifted at Wraith, so I may just be playing him wrong entirely.

One of the most balanced killers but heavily add on reliant. Would love to see an add on pass for him since the large majority of them are just the exact same but with different numbers. Like we dont need 3 different swift hunts

When using him i don't tend to rely too much on the addons. I got one uncloak speed and the other just "they can't hear which direction the bell is coming from". I find its more about getting used to on/off stealth, and when to go in and out of cloak mid chase to use the lil sprint burst he gets - aggresively. Aside from that, knowing where you can body block with your speed.
He also excells at catching injured people while healing, since he has lots of speed while cloaked and can use the nurses perk to find vulnerable targets quickly, to either get quick downs or apply more injury pressure. Hes not like legion for keeping the whole team injured, but better at ambushing them while trying to cut through antiheal perks.
I tend to do well enough with him. If you just chase people m1 out of cloak the whole time of course it'l often be in the survivors favor, but he can afford to drop a chase any time and find another person out in the open very quickly.

I love Wraith based on his simplicity. I don’t play a ton, so I don’t have time to master the more complex killers. I’ve been doing well with uncloaking speed addon and the iri addon that lets you see gen progress while cloaked. Helps a ton to see where you need to pressure gens and also helps force remaining gens closer together for late game.

Wraith is highly depending on addons, with weak ones or none he is like high c-tier, with solid ones or best ones he is b-tier. Wraith is in my opinion highly overrated unless you face unexperienced survivors or get good indoor map his effectiveness is not that great like all he can do consistently is get close to survivors and have good mobility but then his hit potencial highly falls on map with lot of los if its map thats open then survivors can see the wraith aproach and prerun which wont help him much because wraith has to slowdown for 3 seconds and then gets speed buff for 1 second which when done right behind running survivor only makes him catch up nearly for hit if its in straight line not around a object where survivors smaller hitbox makes more distance compare to open field.
He is pretty easy to face very basic killer and there isnt much going for him like only 99 uncloak or bodyblocking he has some mind game potencial but against good experienced survivors without good addons he is bad like you need addons even for his power to be good in chase or his power is only good for mobility and catching up and thats it, then he is m1 killer in chase which is one of worst things you can be as killer in DBD especialy after pallet density still persisting.
His last buff was in patch 6.7.0 (lightborn mechanic remowed) and his last nerf that made him much weaker was in 5.3.0 where they took his speed time from 1,25 seconds to 1 second.
Still he isnt that bad he wentr from one of worst killers (worst in 2016) to todays kinda middle to higher low tier.

That's what i am seein too. I think a portion of the values as basekit, strong single addons for each effect and a few more creative addon options would work wonders.
2 -
In my experience, survivors tend to position themselves very well against my potential uncloaks. HitnRun doesnt work for me at all sadly.
1 -
Having played a few games with him again I understand why wraiths have a reputation for tunneling. He's immensley reliant on his addons and he doesn't work very well as a stealth killer unless you run coxcomb clapper, or that broken af turn back the clock interaction, which I refuse to use.
Without that iri addon he suffers very badly to prerunning when he tries to uncloak, against survs who are aware enough to see him while cloaked and can run a decent chase he really stuggles. His only good skill expression is bodyblocking pallets for an uncloak and hit.
His base power is just very ineffective and powercrept in today's dbd. He could do with maybe being harder to detect while cloaked and make bone clapper basekit just to make it a little more difficult to prerun him and give him a little passive map pressure.

I keep telling myself I'll play him more but I only have like 15 hours on him. I appreciate his simplicity and ease of use, and he's very balanced, but that simplicity is why I never play him. I've become accustomed to killers with more bells and whistles. He's on my P100 list though, and that new skin is super cool, so I imagine I'll be playing him a bit more soon.

I think Wraith is in an okay spot. Compared to other killers he actually has a decent, useable addon set. He's simple and easy to understand.
He has been and will continue to be powercrept into oblivion by newer hybrid killers and I doubt he'll ever get another pass with how low effort BHVR is currently.
He is fully invisible from 20m out and I wish he had addons to reduce that or was harder to spot inside that radius.
2 -
I think bone clapper basekit is a great idea. It would bridge the gap between directional uncloak and silent uncloak!
2 -
I think his croaking breath sound is what makes him so un-stealthy opposed to his cloak.
3 -
id rather face ghoul than wraith. I hope they add ghoul to 2v8 because I'm sick of this boring guy.
-3 -
Yeah for sure. It's hard to be stealthy when you're wheezing and growling like an asthmatic pug 🤣 let alone when you start ringing a literal bell
3 -
I swear the only time Wraith appears is the one time I equip Fogwise or something
2 -
Tell me about it. Soon as I drop inner strength and map with sharpened flint, suddenly every killer is running full hex 🙄
1 -
It works mostly when they dont see you coming but thats more on indoor maps where you can start to uncloak behind corner so they have verx little time to react to it but on open maps its not hard to see the wraith coming and run.
2 -
Still better then in 2017 where you could hear him like 15 meters away from you because only louder passive sound from killer was made by prebuffed dreadge plus wraith without certain addon was 4,6 m/s when cloaked.
2 -
He is only decent because of addons thats it a very addon dependent killer.
If you want to use his power in chase you need to use faster breaking addons or faster cloaked speed addons for cutting survivors off or purple faster uncloak addon to get hits more reliably.
Without certain sddons he is very basic and easy to play against plus his mind games are way more weaker.
Nowdays wraith is all about addons and build around them, best ones are purple faster breaking/vaulting,faster cloaked speed and faster uncloak or combined with same effect addons tier lower to make certain parts of hid power shine is certain ways like speed addons for bodyblocking and cutting survivors off tiles and safety, then there are some other useabld addons like iri ones or that one that works now with turn back the clock perk.
Personaly I droped him long time ago, he is very plane is gameplay and has less interesting plays then ghoul, survivors are used to counter him especialy on open maps and his hardest plays are just 99 uncloak at pallet thats camped by survivor and getting right what will survivor do either 99 they drop so you break and continue cloaked or they greed and you fully uncloak and get a hit nothing interesting there tbh compare to killer like huntress.1 -
I got used to playing pre spamako - Sadako, and i'd play entirely for the on/off stealth mid chase. I also have skull merchant as one of my mains for on/off strealth. The main difference with wraith is that he announces himself more, but gets the mini dash to help with attacks, Which around certain loops can be pretty tough to avoid, and can probably be paired with extended lunge perks.
I noticed it also kinda helps to know how to play pig as her dash is almost in the same boat. And requires similar mind gaming
1 -
like all m1 killers pallet density made him not worth running
he himself is meh probably better than dredge and unknown
2 -
"m1 sickness"
Sheeesh. The core gameplay of dbd - killer is now a sickness. That's how far we've gotten.
5 -
It's sadly like that. If you don't got a strong chase or setup power, you are going to have a bad time as killer easy as is.
1 -
Nah nah nah you don't ragebait me my friend, the crayon collector can't hurt me here.
2 -
Yeah i mostly play killer that tend to avoid 50/50 and M1 gameplay, so i'm less used to it i guess. :/
0 -
He’s alright, probably mid tier. Slightly worse now because of pallet density.
However I love him as he is because he can utilise perks better than most killers with much more versatility.
M1 perks work on him, but unlike other M1 killers he can actually use them pretty well because he has mobility, stealth, and a decent chase power. Getting at least one hit isn’t an issue for Wraith.
Perks that require mobility work well on him. He can run gen kick perks because you don’t waste as much time kicking with him. Exposed perks work great because he has mobility, stealth, and is a basic attack. Perks that would otherwise be mediocre are less situational when you have stealth. He can use tracking perks well because of his mobility and stealth.
Whenever I want to try out a fun perk build, Wraith is usually my go to because of how most perks just work better on him.

I never thought of him that way, he can utilize almost any perk to some degree. Very versatile.

Every time I read something like this, I start to wonder how I made it through almost 6 years by playing Pig.
Easy. By playing m1 well and mastering her traps. Its still enough to win a majority of my games.
2 -
Sure, by mastering a rather weak killer you will still win often. But for me it feels like a marathon with sadako when i couldve a walk in the park with billy.

Idk I don't think he needs an addon pass. He already has some immensley strong add ons. Coxcomb clapper turns him into an absolute beast, and it combos very well with a lot of other addons, his aura read while cloaked addon and his one that keep his stain and tr suppressed for a few seconds after uncloak to name 2. Plus his brown serpent addon plus tbtc is also very strong.
-1 -
He is the B tier character. Probably the most balanced killer in the game imo. Very easy to play, not too hard to face as survivor. Good map movement with certain addons, same with pallet breaking. Overall in a great state.
1 -
I think Wraith is in a good spot right now he might be one of the best balanced killers.
2 -
Funny, that you mention her, as she's been my second main ever since she came out. I win even more matches playing her.
0 -
As i've said, mastering a killer will yield good results, but with some the matches are easier than with others.

I enjoy a challenge. Not everything has to be easy mode. I dont have to win in the easiest way possible and thats good. I liked Sadako 1.0 for exactly that reason. I didnt use iri tape or ring drawing. Neither did I slug. I still got my condemned moris. In fact, I got so good at it, that I was rank 4 on the global leaderboard back then.
Was it hard? Yes. Did I want it to be any different backk then? Not in regard to it being challenging.
If people want easy mode, then they can do that by playing Nurse, Ghoul or Vecna 2.0. Not everything has to be an overtuned nightmare.

I do agree, i play billy with speed limiter (or whatever this addons called now) and no perks or another addon to challenge myself quite often.
0 -
I say the same. He is really well balanced. Has the ability to outplay you, just as well as you have the ability to counter him, unless he is running the broken Turn Back the Clock build.
1 -
Cracked Primer Bulb is Billy's variant

I see, always forget just smack it on

It's funny playing with "meme" add-ons for sure.
I once tried Placebo Tablet Blight though, and I could hardly catch anyone with it (:0 -
Dealing with the infinite pallets you have on most maps right now really sucks for him if you're not running his action speed addon, but you also need uncloak speed addon to make his power actually lethal, and you need movement speed to outpace Survivors who prerun, and then you never get the chance to run any other more interesting addons... he feels quite bad at the moment, I'm not going to lie. He needs an addon pass which makes some of the effects basekit while reworking the ones that just do the same thing at slightly different levels (he's one of the only Killers left whose whole addon paradigm works this way).
2 -
Yeah i think three addons essentially doing the same is weird.
0 -
Turn back the clock interaction is not that broken, he just gets one free hit and that's only if survivors are not using SB and for that free hit you need to hook a survivor and if survivors pay enough attention then they can pre-run and get to a resource before this happens, it's just not that broken, also serpent is literally a meme add-on and nerfs you in chase if you want to break a pallet while cloaked and using the breaking speed add-on.
0 -
As a Henry main, Henry is not easy. It's quite easy to dodge his vines if you pay attention (can be hard with ping) and survivors in high MMR I play against are able to dodge him fine. His counterplay is easy if spend time learning it.
2 -
Very painful to play as after the pallet density changes against good players, while also not being very fun to play against. He's still pretty decent at hit and run though, especially against uncoordinated teams.
2 -
TBTC interaction is not as broken as many people think. While uncloaking he still has a short amount of time not being able to hit. Enough for a fast vault for example.
0 -
That's also my experience. Hit and Run almost never works for me.
