The constant nerfing of exhaustion perks
Don't worry, when Sprint burst gets gutted they'll just move on to Lithe next. Killer main content creators will just move down the list, checking off every exhaustion perk that gets gutted. Once Lithe is gutted, then they will just move on to Balanced Landing. Once Balanced Landing is gone, Overcome will be next. Rinse, repeat. See the pattern? And the crazy part? Most of the complaints about exhaustion perks are coming from streamers with a 95% plus kill rate. If they're not hitting 4ks every match, then survivor perks become "problematic" and "broken". I'm literally seeing killers with 400 game win streaks complaining about survivor perks. "Huh?" The goal is to get every healing and exhaustion perk essentially removed from the game.
The predictable outcome of this strategy is that the solo players are leaving. Increased killer queue times reflect this already. New players are not even going to bother with this game after their 9th or 10th loss in a row. It will be a quick uninstall for sure. Soon enough, killers will have no one else to play against except SWF. This will be their new reality. Solo play won't be worth anyone's time anymore. Regardless of what PVP game you enjoy, no one is going to tolerate losing 80% of the time. I'm not saying the game is going to die, but the future will be killers and SWF only.
PS: Lethal Pursuer still exists. Just saying.
PSS: lol, downvote me all you want. It won't change the trajectory this game is going in. This has already started to happen, whether you like it or not. Inertia has taken over at this point.

That’s right anti-loop and tunneling, camping, slugging killers are going to be much stronger. A clear example is Chaos Shuffle: in every match, someone gets tunneled because of no DS, Lithe and Sprint, and everyone plays anti-loop killers against whom exhaustion perks are simply essential. I actually played as killer there for an hour yesterday and didn't lose a single match, btw no one will change their mains just because they decided to gut exhaustion perks

Of all the exhaustion perks Sprint Burst was the most free on demand with no trigger requirement or input on the survivor before the chase even starts. Getting changed was long over due it was hurting the slow M1 killers the most. All other exhaustion I have no issues with cause they all require the survivor player to do something to get value out of it which mostly happens during chase.
-3 -
So we are ignoring the fact that stealth killers will be much stronger especially on indoor maps, nice double standarts

Cant wait to go against some Clowns or Bubbas instead of the constant Blight, Jason and Ghoul :3

Sprint Burst has been one of the strongest exhaustion perks for pretty much the entire game's life. Dead Hard was nerfed years ago when it held the crown.
If people want the game to be less stale and not just see the same handful of perks all the time, then we need to actually nerf perks that have been seeing the same high usage for years.

Can we also get good new Survivor Perks? No? Ok. :(
12 -
If they wanna nerf it to 2s then it should activate on E button like with Drama at least and not through shift button
-4 -
So basically making drama a useless perk, that class in 2v8 with sprint burst is pretty busted.
-2 -
Then use Drama then if you want to have a speed boost on a button press. The point of nerfing Sprint Burst is to lessen the perk as the default best option to use. Buffing it this way would not accomplish the goal.
-3 -
I mean if the perk is one of the things affecting them being played and we dont "want everyone to be dash slop" what is the best solution here? S tiers dont care about SB theyll catch up and hit you sometimes while its still going. A slower killer feels the pain of running into it multiple times. So they gravitate toward the killers who can do the former.
-3 -
Yes? There's been a bunch of good new survivor perks recently.
A couple I'd even call outright really strong, for that matter.
-13 -
So it's been free on demand for a decade? Um, ok... It doesn't matter if you believe it was free or not (although I disagree with a Sprint Burst being free. Lethal Pursuer is free. To get value out of Lethal Pursuer, all you have to do is exist, lol) That's not the point of my post. My point is that every exhaustion perk will be gutted in the future. It doesn't matter if it was really problematic or not. DBD streamers, content creators, and killer mains will make the case anyway with all of the mental gymnastics that they can muster. And every time an exhaustion or healing perk is nerfed, the brigade will come out with a multitude of justifications as to why it needed to be changed.
Meanwhile, killer queue times are getting longer and longer. And as I said, killer mains will eventually be playing against SWF only, so be prepared to sweat Every. Single. Match. Eventually this will become a problem for most killers as well, so the game will eventually be balanced around top tier SWFs. With the survivor pool getting smaller and smaller, the ones that will stay will be extremely high skilled bully squads. DBD will go the way of Marathon. Not in terms of player counts, but I'm referring to where only the top 1% will stick around.

Yeah, no. M1-Killers are just the scapegoat, nothing more. People will not suddenly start to play the weaker Killers if they can play the high Tiers, especially if they are so easy like Ghoul or Jason.
10 -
Yes, im aware of that. But a S tier killer or jason, or others youve mentioned like stated dont care about sprint burst. So a lower tier killer. Who does have to respect it. Is made weaker by comparison. Thus people jump to the ones that dont care. So then people gravitate to what we have now. Unless we want to lower all killers to be hit by it equally and then just make it the most broken perk in the entire game. I just wanna see the solution here. Because people wanna preserve the m1 killers being m1 (myers rework backlash) and not just throw haste on them. But this perk hits them more than any other. So i was just wondering if ya had the idea that wont eventually have to get it hit down the line anyway for being the hold w opposite direction perk.
-11 -
I hate that Sprint Burst was nerfed, especially since Vigil was half of the reason why people hate exhaustion perks, not SB
13 -
There's a massive difference between getting value for free from a perk that can be triggered at any point of the match such as sprint burst against a perk that activates only once or a very specific action happening then becomes a dead perk for rest of the match such as lethal or Corrupt.
-13 -
stealth killers are bad
-6 -
Then the correct step would be to nerf those Killers instead of keep nerfing things on Survivor, if the things that get nerfed, dont affect the strong Killers in a meaningful way.
But honestly, I dont care too much about it. I will just expect the "Nerf Lithe"-Posts in a few months, because then Lithe is the reason Killer Mains are losing games.
8 -
Again a lot of it is circular logic
A lot of people run sprint burst because of mobility killers so people don't play low mobility killers because SB is too common and strong against them, leading to people playing high mobility killers to keep up and the cycle perpetuates.
One thing I wanna point out though, you can get a similar effect to Sprint Burst against most of the cast by simply pre-running as soon as you hear the TR or see the killer from afar approaching. All SB does in those scenarios is allow survivors to not pre-run and still be fine.
8 -
I already saw this one YouTuber react to the sprint burst nerf and then said, “I hope they look at lithe and balance landing next” it’s gonna happen soon
8 -
No they are not look at Onryos kill rates, most people do winstreaks with them no problem, if players can't master them then it's only their fault, plus solos barely win matches against them
5 -
Most solo Q teams lose to Sadako because somebody doesn't do tapes, gets condemned and dies too early.
She's the only stealth killer that gives survivors a big heads up she's close by, her lullaby. It's condemn that causes the killrate, not stealth.
-7 -
Yeah I mean i was saying if say they did that all the High mobile killers are nerfed. Would SB still be able to exist in that universe? Because now its just countering all killers in the game with 20 seconds of distance on command? So people saying it should never be touched because its been fine for now dont know how a game can shift overtime.
-7 -
If we only nerf the strongest killers without touching the strongest survivor perks it'll make all killer even worse and people will still play the strongest killers. Need to do is nerf the strongest survivor perks then we can nerf the strongest killers which will make the weaker killers more viable without even touching them.
-5 -
Name a SINGLE real exhaustion perk in the games ENTIRE lifespan that has actually been nerfed to the point its no longer very strong. An incredible perk with no meaningful counterplay for the majority of the killer roster going from S tier to A tier and being put in line with other exhaustion options is not a 'gutting', and unless you're going to try and pretend old dead hard was fine actually or that it isn't still an incredible perk (or for the truly insane, complain about balanced landing no longer being infinite), I'm struggling to think of a single meaningful nerf to exhaustion perks that has even lowered their position in the hierarchy before this one. Even the changes to Background Player (which was only in the state it was by being BUFFED a decent while after release!) was more of a rebalancing to make it healthier, and a lot of players who used it PREFER its current state due to being able to use it on almost any down.
You could REALLY stretch and point out Adrenaline no longer unhooking you healthy and having its duration reduced, but Adrenaline isn't even vaguely what people refer to when talking about 'exhaustion perks' any more than they're talking about Rapid Response or Head On, and even then Adrenaline is about to get its duration BUFFED from its current state anyways. This 'constant nerfing of exhaustion perks' is quite literally in your own head and nowhere else.-6 -
Except that nerfing the strongest Killers will just not happen. There are obvious things you can do against Ghoul for example. They dont happen. There are things which can easily be nerfed right now for Jason, nothing happened.
Nurse gets a slap on the wrist for years. Blight got Nerfs, which did barely anything. But what is certain that more Survivor Perks will be nerfed, whatever is the next reason why Killers lose.
The ideal way would be to nerf the strongest Killers AND buff the weakest KIllers and THEN evaluate what needs nerfing on the Survivor Side. And this obviously in a much quicker way than BHVR is doing.
3 -
Thats the same mindset as devs have and its completely wrong. You NEVER nerf a perk to change the meta unless the perk itself is problematic. Is Sprint Brust problematic? No it isnt. Killers just like to trashtalk every perk they dont like, no matter the actual worth of it. And not being able to come up with a single reasonable argument. And this just keeps on going until every perk is nerfed without any reason. If you just nerf everything into bein useless you can just stop using any perks at all.
If you want to change the meta you have to bring perks on the same level as those ones being used (while not being problematic for a proper reason).
8 -
If only the same thought process was used for other things.
🤔

I'm not too sure how I feel about Sprint Burst getting nerfed as I get the whole argument for it having free value, but at the same time I do think there is a minor but of skill to knowing when to 99 exhaustion. The real part of the problem is being able to sit on gens and then insta sprint burst but Mindbreaker is a nice little counter to that in my experience
1 -
it’s the other way around, we need to buff perks like Balance Landing and Smash Hit up to par, not butcher them.
4 -
are we supposed to feel bad about this or something? SB and Lithe have warped the game for far too long just like Nurse has.
-9 -
The "constant nerfing" and it's the first time an exhaustion perk has been directly changed within the past what… 3 years? The last nerf I remember was Background Player and that's more of the perk was genuinely busted when it was 100% haste. It's still 50% and 5 second duration in fact it also has a lower exhaustion timer so it can pair with specific other exhaustion perks.
Sprint Burst was LONG overdue for a change ever since pallet density rolled out as it's a lot easier to just adjust the few problem children than change the whole family tree (the entire lower half of the killer roster) to accommodate for the problem children existing. Unless of course you want to give a super oppressive anti-exhaustion perk because I'll tell you what mind breaker for the lower half of the killer roster does little when all it takes is a few sprint bursts/lithes to waste so much time. Like even when we're finally getting a decent anti-haste it's tied to hex when…. vigil is still allowed to exist with no counter.
Just wish people would stop looking through a dirtied lens and see giving speed boosts NEEDS to be super conditional to be healthy for the game. That and we should be balancing around at least a competent level of survivor and not people who run into 3 walls in one chase. The whole reason I don't want to play a weaker killer is because I legit face 80% perk value over actual survivor skill and that 80% perk value easily makes up for survivors not lasting long in chase.
Of course, I know I'll get downvoted into oblivion because I went against grain but I'll take it.-4 -
Lithe isn't even vaguely a problem! It has almost none of the actual issues sprint burst has, there is no reason to touch the perk.
5 -
It still has the same hold W problem, and it's free distance with no skill required which is not healthy IMO.
-10 -
True. I remember back then when they nerfed Balanced Landing that I said that we will see more DHs and Sprint Bursts and people will complain about it next. Then they nerfed DH and I said we will see more Sprint Bursts. Now they nerf Sprint Burst and we will see more Lithe. Guess what is next…
When it comes to buffing Perks, the thing is, I think some are really hard to buff. I mean, you can buff Balanced Landing by giving it back its Stagger Reduction. There are no spots on the Maps anymore which can become problematic because of the Stagger Reduction. Sure, there are Windows which dont feature a Doorway next to them, but you wont make it around without the BL-Speedboost. So I dont even think that buffing BL in that way would make it actually better.
It can be 4 seconds of Haste. In the end, it is far more situational than Lithe for example and not even useable on some maps.
Smash Hit on the other hand would need a secondary effect to be good. Because otherwise I dont see any way to make the Perk useable. It already has a lower Exhaustion Timer than other Perks (not that it matters too much), but it relies on so many things. The Killer themselves, how they play and even latency.
5 -
The majority of really good perks on both sides have fairly simple activation conditions. Lithe is much more interactive than sprint burst because it actually involves either pathing to a window or using up a removable resource, both of which are things the killer can plan around or otherwise do something about. Sburst is universally very strong regardless of almost any position, dead ends aside. Lithe is also much, much worse for macro movement as a fast vault will reveal your location without Quick And Quiet, so using lithe to rush for a heal on a teammate or to get somewhere important might as well be strapping a 'please come smack me' sign to your back.
Its also affected by counter options significantly more. Take mindbreaker for instance, even if you have vigil to reduce the time, walking for 3 seconds can actually affect whether you get hit or not with lithe - with sprint burst and vigil its kind of trivial to just ignore it in most chases, because you can use the speed boost the exact moment exhaustion ends. (Plus, you know, lithe actually caring about perks like languid touch or genetic limits). Unlike sprint burst it doesn't work as a get out of jail card against killers using ambush strategies, spotting someone visually isn't enough, you actually have to get to a vault point.
Also, I wish people would stop the cope on 'no skill required' when sprint burst being a problem is BECAUSE its far too much power for better players. Sprint burst is actually really not very good for newer players or people who don't have the perk down particularly well, its relatively easy to waste if you struggle with some of the decision making, the problem with Sburst is the lack of meaningful counterplay or restrictions on a perk that had an outsized effect once you got good with it. Its not a braindead perk stupid people use to cheese games or whatever people want to try and claim, its just overtuned for what it does and how.4 -
I don't really lithe getting touched at all in the future as there's a pretty good consensus amongst everyone that it's a fair perk for what it does. Your value from lithe depends on making a good read against the killer and rewards that. It's a lot more engaging than just the guy who's slowly walking away from you because you know he's just going to sprint burst and waiting that out or going against someone who actually knows how to 99% it and having that being an aggravating experience.
-2 -
you are losing 1 second on a perk and a complete melt down has ensued. what a strange community dbd is.
no one has an issue with lithe or overcome and neither of those perks are as useful and powerful as sprint burst is so to complain about this and make such comparisons isnt the source of a good argument.
-8 -
It's going the be hilarious if the next round isn't lithe, but Drama, and the argument being 'now that Sprint Burst is nerfed everyone's just running Drama instead!'
12 -
the amount of 3-4x Lithe paired with 3-4 Finesse in my lobbies is what genuinely makes me revert to Ghoul. Everywhere I go, Lara is there to haunt me.
-5 -
We got Dead Hard and SB, we're coming for Lithe and BL next
-13 -
Considering it takes the devs years to make any real meaningful changes and most of the the results were a disaster. Twins rework, Blight nerfed, SM changes, Hill Billy chain saw, anti tunnel and slug changes.
No one has faith anymore with these devs with how painfully slow they are.
0 -
Now I'm really not one to advocate for survivor perk nerfs, but SB and Lithe are some of the most obnoxiously, mind-numbingly easy perks to get MASSIVE value from, and would be happy to see a sharp drop in their pick rates. All other exhaustion perks however, I have no qualms about, they usually require some sort of risk or setup to get value out of, something that I wish was relevant to more perks for both sides.
-9 -
No offense but I hate this logic.
Perks do not need to be like invocations or crappy Hex Perks that require wasting a lot of time to get a small benefit, the game is not currently balanced or designed around this.10 -
Sprint burst is significantly stronger against no mobility / m1 killers than against the high tiers. That's why sb deserves to be nerfed. Sprint burst does nothing for you with strong killers anyway, the solution is to nerf those killers.
-6 -
Don't see the part in my post where I said invocations were good or well-designed. When I say "risk" I mean things like Dramaturgy's chance to get exposed, or the risk of being grabbed from a locker while charging Head On.
-5 -
Most peoples frustrations with solo que stem from bad team mates way more than perks do.
I would play every game perless if my team mates weren't so useless an selfish-5 -
sadako"s kill rates are high because she can kill with condemed instead of hooking
-9 -
for real, dude.

"And the crazy part? Most of the complaints about exhaustion perks are coming from streamers with a 95% plus kill rate"
One thing you need to understand about content creators is that views = $$. The reason they complain as loud as they do is not because they need perks nerfed, it's because they know their audience. They know that newcomers, or those struggling with the game, will gravitate towards their streams and content. So they tell them what they want to hear in order to keep them engaged and to keep them watching - namely that the game works against them, that there's nothing more they can improve on and the issue is actually (insert perk, etc). Because if people keep watching, then the content creator keeps making money. This is why they complain so hard despite playing this game with enough ease while maintaining such good results. They're telling their viewers whatever they think their viewers need to hear in order to keep watching.
Hens was honest about this not long ago, saying he is a content creator first, and a DBD player second. Content and views are their priority.
