New stats just dropped....

based Springtrap enjoyers let's go!!! I helped!

Wow europe being basic af 🤣 windows, pain res, sable and wesker? Like all the dbd unimaginative basic tropes lol
6 -
Ah yup Oceania showing what I already feel. Ghoul most picked.
Also Oceania survivors escape the most? 😈 54.5% highest escape rate higher then everyone else by like 10%0 -
Jason is killing it (too much)
Kaneki, Huntress, Wesker, and Afton forming the popularity clique is unsurprising, but still interesting to think about with how different the 4 of them are.
Windows and Deja Vu + Pain Res are very understandable as most picked perks, as they're among the easiest to use for such powerful effects.
Shane players are a cut above the average survivor, I will remember this the next time one leaves me to die on hook.
Sable, Feng, and Meg continue in their quest to make BHVR a billion dollars.
7 -
The important point I do want to emphasize regarding The Slasher is that these stats only take into account his first 2 weeks in the game. During this time, players were still very much figuring out his counterplay, which likely had an impact on his kill rate. Rest assured, we're continuing to monitor his kill rate over time to see how this evolves.
2 -
Tbh the only fave killer to surprise me is huntress, she is powercrept and a bit of a relic. The others are all super popular and from very big IPs.
And the shane stats are probably because all the dedicated players will have brought him and will be playing him a lot. Same happened with kwon when the trickster rework hit. Every kwon i came across was a damn solid player.
4 -
Interesting that each region has a different most picked killer, kind of surprised to see the US having so many springtraps to the point he takes the lead. We are doomed to eternal Weskin' Time, I'm afraid, though it could be worse as Weskers are pretty fun to go against.
2 -
Shouldn't that go both ways though? I started on Henry when he first came out—when survivors also didn't know the counterplay—and I had like a 50% KR for a little bit. I had to learn and practice to get it up to 70. This killer has a huge bag of tricks but instead of players losing some matches while they also figure out the kit, they just stomped, not to mention the DC exclusion probably makes it 5 points higher than what we see here. And if it's only the first two weeks than that's before Hex Jason really became the unstoppable norm.
22 -
Does that mean Shane's stats are only his first week when everyone would be pushing for their Adepts?
8 -
Yes, please downplay it so you dont have to nerf him too quickly.
It obviously goes both ways, in those 2 weeks players who played Jason will most likely not played him to the full potential and tanked the Killrate quite a bit.
17 -
Respectfully, this statement is a real headache for me.
If you know those two weeks skew the data, then...why are they included in the data? Split it off and release it on its own and avoid the inevitable flood of misunderstandings.
That aside, this is the exact logic that was used during the Krasue killrate debate all over again. Why was she nerfed and Jason isn't?
18 -
Very obvious elephant in the room but I doubt its safe to address.
10 -
Because Krasue was original and Jason is licensed. we go through this everytime a strong licensed killer is released. Kaneki is the only outlier since he was giga busted on release which needed the nerfs 2 weeks after launch.
3 -
Thats hard take for amyn people that just want to see his kr high so they can bombard devs with stuf that he needs nerfs.
People dont mind facts here on on other platform they just looking for reason that gives them some ground fact so they can demand something, like with merchant.
-20 -
Just make windows basekit while in chase already.
-11 -
I don't know about that, hex jason was incredibly oppressive, counterplay or not.
By that logic, people also didn't know how to play as him yet? Yet were effective as him? I don't think we can just paint that context over it so easily.10 -
You kinda can. Early on, I was getting ATON of just normal M1 hits after a teleport. M1s are not hard in the least and I could go the whole match off JUST M1s. Now people are more on point with running as SOON as they see the animation rather than waiting for the scream. Less free M1s.
0 -
People only use windows because there’s nothing else. I was using Cross Examination until BHVR killed that perk dead. Now it’s right back to windows.
-6 -
People were also missing m2's or not using omnipresent evil at all, or to fix hooks, or using builds that synergise with him.
I never said it wasn't the case, but there is definitely more context to look into here.2 -
Jason's kill rate has dropped since the stats were created, its in a much more regular spot right now. Krasue's didn't - hers was stronger. Not saying that maybe too much was nerfed on her, but her kill rate was pretty high.
11 -
this is just untrue. Windows is just a perfect perk. there are many perks just as good.
-2 -
If a new killer comes out, and a killer player wants to try to learn them, they can play 20 games and get 20 full games of learning how to play them. A survivor wanting to learn the killer specific counterplay can play 20 games, and in those 20 games they may not get the new killer every single game, and in the games they do get most of the game will be spent healing, on hook, on gens, and generally not actually being in chase so they learn at a slower rate, not to mention the possibility of being taken out of the game early.
Imo I feel like this would lead to killers figuring out the killer first, while survivors have to play longer to even things out due to the game being asymmetrical. It kind of happened with Henry, where he was considered oppressive and overpowered by many survivors on launch, and as they figured out the counterplay he sort of fell off and not many people talk about him now.
I could be wrong, but that's how I see it and how it feels when I'm playing survivor vs killer after a new release.3 -
I think you are very correct in that assumption, and it would explain why we see the drop offs on kill rates at higher MMRs first, as they do more naturally learn the counterplay that bit faster.
2 -
Windows is the survivor equivalent of light born. I loop just fine with out. The only reason I use it is because their really aren’t that many good survivor perks.
-2 -
I think the honeymoon phase with Jason is over now. HIs skill ceiling is very high, thanks to Omnipresent his skill floor is also fairly high. For his kill-rate in these stats being only the first two weeks? I don't think half of those players were using him at the same proficiency that many are now. Sure, survivors know the counterplay a little better, his kill-rate may no longer a whopping 70%, but what is really a 'regular spot' for a ranged killer with built-in hard stealth, map mobility, AND free info on non-crouched survivors? 65% or the standard 60%? Some examples, my personal kill-rate on Wesker is 56%, and on Nightlight people report 47% kill-rate. He requires a lot of skill but does get some free hits. On Ghoul I only manage 60%, and he gets even freer hits with a higher skill-floor than Jason. With my main, Cenobite, I have a 67% kill-rate. And that's counting all of the people who give up or DC in my lobbies just because they don't like Pinhead.
Jason is still overtuned, and trust me I definitely understand why many people would disagree. There are a lot of people playing Jason who haven't mastered the character and make him feel very fair. Until you've face a dedicated Jason player who has mastered him, you would believe he was just an A-tier killer. He is legitimately, in the right hands, a face-camping and tunneling machine right now. And there's virtually no counterplay to those kinds of strategies. Hook in an open deadzone, wait like Huntress for unhook, teleport and instantly slam the survivor into a wall like Wesker but from a distance, easy kill. If the dev team doesn't want to touch his anti-camp punishments at all, then Omnipresent evil needs some kind of nerf or minor rework overall. He can sit in it forever and get free info, so he either needs a hefty cooldown after using it, which would reduce spamming it in chase, or he needs a time limit until he's forced to reappear, so he can't stall the game for entire minutes at a time waiting for a survivor to start working on a gen or unhook their teammate.
Also I remember everyone freaking out when Ghoul released and in his first 2 weeks got around a 64% kill-rate. I mean, 70% definitely reflects my experience playing against Jason in the month following his release. He's incredibly strong. I wish that the official DbD stats website would also show escape rates against specific killers, I'd like to know just how many times I've escaped against him.

Right, I get that. But like, why am I taking your word for it? Why is BHVR releasing stats that show inflated numbers, just for Community Managers to immediately pop out and explain how actually none of the stats are indicative of current performance?
We just had this conversation with Krasue, and people had trouble understanding it then even though she got very sizable number changes a little after release.
You already have plenty of people just straight up not believing you about Jason's kr in this thread, and honestly, I don't blame them. I don't really believe you either.
You have to understand that from where I'm sitting, BHVR is bringing this misunderstanding entirely unto themselves.
6 -
removing Jason from June stats would then be incorrect though - because he was the top naturally during that month - its unfortunate timing on the release, but if we'd removed him we'd have an equal amount of outcry that we "cherrypicked" the data.
7 -
Nobody suggested removing Jason from June's stats though, you'd be separating the time in which his Killrate is inflated vs when it evened out after players figured him out, and hopefully be showing both to the community to better explain the amalgamate Kr we just got. Other killers don't need that treatment because their KRs didn't vary when the data was recorded.
To be frank, you can find 1000 reasons not to do something. I'm just letting you know that I think the way you have chosen to do it is dumb and misleading for a lot of the playerbase.
0 -
But now you're gonna be both doubted and have no evidence to back it up, cherry picked or not?
Like personally I'd rather see the "Cherry pick" especially if it had the context rather than nothing at all. Because I want to see things from the developer perspective, much like the vigil nerf where my stats were sat at 40 percent escape rate but I have no idea what the global escape rate was for it, so I saw no issue. (I'm not against it being nerfed, I just have 0 context as to why)
Unless you're getting at the event queue, which, you could just strip that from the results and no one would question it.3 -
5 Moves Ahead will remember that…
-1 -
Actually thinking on this, it would make sense if killer queues weren't 8 minutes at Jasons launch.
But they were, so… technically speaking killers would get into a fraction of the games survivors do.4 -
At the bottom it says January 1 - June 30. Are these stats only for the month of June?
0 -
Given that matches are about 10-20 mins, that means, assuming you played at the uneven hours where queue times were long, survivors got in double the matches in the best case. In matches as survivor I find about 75%~ of the time I'm not interacting with the killer (thats just for me, I'm sure other people have other experiences). That would mean killers are still getting in more experience given the entire match they are playing that one killer. If you play killer at times where the queues were more even (I was finding at night on the east coast queue times were a 3-4 mins around Jason's release) you would get even more experience in I think.
Either way, Mandy has said that Jason's kill rates have fallen off a bit and he was only at 67 in North America and 64 in Asia to begin with, so it seems people have either had time to adapt to him, or his add-on nerfs were enough to bring his power down. I assume he's in a more balanced spot now. I'm interested to see the next round of stats where he places.Post edited by CosmicScarab on0 -
I generally play at night when my kid is asleep and won't need my attention midmatch and can confirm the queue time difference is kinda staggering.
Took this afew nights ago.
2 -
Yeah, recently for me it has been 3-4 mins during the day at most, and seconds at night for killer. With survivor being instant during the day and a 1-2 min at most at night. It's quite the drastic difference.

Shout out to LatAm survivors being the real workhorses and focusing those gens.
Also to explain the high escape rate in Asia they're 1. More competitive and 2. Understand the importance of being self-sufficient. I've heard Scott Jund describe this as Asian players being more selfish but this is a misunderstanding of East Asian culture. Over there there's a sort of social contract of you don't want to be a burden to others and this is seen as politeness. This is why self-care is much more popular in Asia they're willing to play a slower game and take the time to self-care to free up their teammates time to do gens. This shouldn't be overstated though as they will ofc let teammates heal them if it makes sense.

These data releases are so useless and frustrating. There is almost nothing interesting here to draw conclusions from. Wake me up when BHVR start providing actual regular updates with stats for all killers/survivor escape rates, not just “top killer” (after a brand new killer release) or “top survivor” (which is a laughably useless statistic).
6 -
There are people on this forum that argue that the stats from Nightlight are useless. Well how are these stats any more useful?
They gave us a grand total of 8 numbers.
-6 -
The BHVR stats are just as useless as the Nightlight stats.
1 -
Nightlight stats are KINDA more useful since you can see month to month changes. Even if you dont trust the specific values, I think there's still worth in being able to tell if a killrate has gone up or down after a buff/nerf from one month to the next.
-5 -
Except I had to stop playing because EVERY killer was Jason. And with how oppressive Jason is, you spent little to no time healing, being on gens… He is constantly on somebody or intervening in gen progression because of his basekit tracking and OP traversal.
-5 -
Nothing prevents BHVR from releasing more stats. It's your choice to release them in dribs and drabs. This 'our hands were tied' argument doesn't make sense because you all get to set the terms of what is released.
You could very easily have reported Jason KR as the new killer, while releasing the top KR for killers who were available for the entire period.
Or just every killers' KR if you wanted.
9 -
That is not correct I'm sorry. Same as counterplay it's also a step to learn the killer and Jason has so many tools to learn that he completely powercrept half the killers which is obvious when killer has insane and infinite map traversal, free detection on anyone who tries to play the actual game and on top of that you get hit most of time because you can't see him so you don't know where he teleports too, if you are in the pallet you can't stun him because he blocks it and if you predrop pallets it doesn't matter because despite everyone complaining about pallet density he has extra 50 % prebroken pallets to have even more insane teleports. If that all isn't enough he has insanely tiny hit projectile allowing him to damage people through the smallest cracks and over taller loops and if it's still not enough he also autohit anyone closeby while coming into omnipresent evil. And as cherry on top he gets insane debuffs and advantages simply by entering his power that he can spam every 12s. Since the Jason came out everyone is playing deputy's badge and sauna rock those even after nerfs are still massive effects for free, simply just because you play Jason. Now play Spirit, Springtrap, Wraith, Deathslinger, Trickster, Onryo or many others when you can Pick Jason who has multikit that is better in every aspect than full kit of other killers.
Edit: Also make a count that Jason brought a lot of players, so you would actually expect him to have much lower kill rate bor being quite complex while also attractive to begginers.
3 -
I see that as obvious as Krasue has very low skill-expression to do well overall. Not really atm as she got nerfed hard but she used to be very simple to play while extremely powerfull. And killers that are naturally strong and also have low skill-floor aren't good additions tbh.
2 -
Its because they are more selfish. They arnt wasting time trying to unhook infront of the killer they are doing gens and progressing the game.
-2 -
Shane truly said…
3 -
I would not say more selfish, I am Oceania player. But I will say my team mates seem to be much smarter then I see some people describe there average solo q team mate.
0 -
I alwas go for endgame saves or try to help the team despite I believe I might have much higher escape rate. Europa is quite altruistic, that's why even kill rate is expected to be higher because if team let's one person die for 3 out without hesitation you also expect higher escape rate.
-2 -
I have not seen enough matches on the Asian servers to comment in detail, but in countries like Japan where society places importance on social and moral norms and values, I can imagine that playing DbD according to the intended mechanics is a high priority. So perhaps the lower Jason KR could indicate that hard tunnelling and holding M2 with a spear pointed at the hook, are not considered sportsmanlike or polite.
