Future of Dead by Daylight Forums

This was really my only outlet to share bugs and possible balance issues. This feels really bad right now.

any chance you would reconsider? I don’t come often but when I have a problem I’m so thankful, I think it’s important to have an official forum, even old school RuneScape still has their forum.

As many others have already said, I think this is a gigantic mistake. I truly cannot fathom worse places to gather critique or feedback for this game than the subreddit or the Steam discussions page. If you guys are shutting down the forums, thats fine, but you need to provide an alternative location that isnt hosted by a third party to provide direct feedback that other community members can see and discuss. The Discord is not a convenient place for people to share feedback, and shifting your focus there just ensures that the "vocal" community is going to be even more fractured and opionated than they already are due to a lack of pushback or critique from other users.

For any of the old heads who see this, regardless of how we may have gotten along over the years, your dedication is appreciated. If not by BHVR, than it should be by each other. Regardless of blatant or unintentional biases, there have been a multitude of perspectives that provided a wide range of insights, criticisms, over/under sights, and legitimately valuable feedback. Everyone knows that individual communities get swarmed with biases to the point of becoming echo chambers, but having a forum that worked in the most literal interpretation of the word for so long is something that this game sorely needed and benefited from.

For anyone who put more thought into their perspectives than emotion, more intention than reaction, more care than frustration, regardless of right or wrong, your input to the forums was a positive contribution. When you think about the fact that this post doesn't necessary address the people who wear their insights on their sleeves, keep in mind that will be the future of feedback for the game going forward. For all the "X platform is Y biased," that will be their only avenues of feedback going forward. Whether that means they'll be able to better disseminate feedback or get lost in a contradictory sea of warring factions, only time will tell. But the names that have been here for the majority of the game's lifespan, genuinely wanting the game to be a better experience irrespective of personal gain, you're all appreciated. If not by the developers, than by the people who shared the same goal. If I can't speak for everyone in that camp, I can at least speak for myself.

I second all of this. I don't look forward to the game being balanced by the loudest voices on all of those other platforms, where engagement farming seems to be the primary motivation for most of the users over there. We all have our biases, but the forums still felt like the best place to come for a reasoned, nuanced debate and the place to read the most considered takes on the game. That kind of discussion just doesn't exist elsewhere on the web. Discord is a gated community and (from what this old timer understands) more like an ephemeral chat room than a public discussion forum and reddit is just 90% memes and videos, with the other 10% being players gloating/commiserating over whatever it was BHVR nerfed this week. Neither platform will be a good substitute for what the forums currently offer. I really hope they reconsider but the decision is probably final 😔

Reddit will be a terrible place for anyone that wants to discuss DBD. Despite disagreeing and being disagreed with often, I felt the DBD forums offered the most balanced takes. Reddit is just a killer main circle jerk. They downvote anything that isn't "killer good, survivor bad". They even started a subreddit called "r: killer mains" because even a few dissenting opinions was too much for them.

Btw, on the "so that you can continue your discussions." point………………..….not that you (BHVR) ever read them even more than just a tiny bit on the surface. Not that it EVER mattered in any profound sense in the way you shaped your decisions to do some soul-searching or ever square conscience.

This here is my 4th of 5th account in these forums.
The warning notification is so damn stupid. The 3rd one locks you out of your account and you don't receive an email notification or anything to know what you did wrong. You log back after 30 days and finally can see what you did wrong, which 95% of the times are minor, stupid things like saying "X in this game is braindead and needs to go".
The ADMs and mods are the very reflection of people these days: everything is a heavy offense that justifies going next in real life.
Well… at least now I'll be able to interact with the official channels only with my "main accounts".
Let's see how much time I'll be able to keep them until they get banned as well.

Maybe they’ll change their mind? I mean Bungie is just came out and said they weren’t done with destiny and were gonna start un-vaulting content like the red war.

Or maybe this is just the universe staying in balance, one door opens another closes.

it felt like a lot of the moderation was vibes based which makes it hard for consistency in regulation. you gotta hope you get the "right" mod. I got hit for literally just saying the new Zanshin was "lazy and half baked". I'm sorry but that kind of moderation guarantees there will be no longer term community. Shame because things seemed less stifling lately, as new additions like Balrog were pretty chill.

Sorry BHVR you did this to yourself, why introduce once more the down vote button? and why also monitor such small mishaps? The discord is a laugh as I have seen, reddit I do like but don't post I seek info there. But I mean why create and cause means for your own demise? Perhaps if sought of ways and looked to the community and wishes etc, better and see what folk want, this isn't a step in the best direction and no doubt going to cause a whole load of ball ache.

I guess this throws out my plan of having an annual custom of making an alt on December 12 and just spamming my documentation of The Thread everywhere, huh.

Can't say I'm too surprised that the site I spent a literal THIRD of my life on (I was 16 when I made my account, I'm 24 now) is getting nuked. It's kind of just par for the course for me the year that has had it out for me specifically.

I was going to make a video about this (and honestly, I still might, but the script I have is kind of a bit ranty on personal tragedies this year and, while I think the context of why this is yet another gut punch is important, I also don't know how much anyone would want to hear about some nobody's misery), but I'll say something here for now.

I'm probably one of the last of the old guard, having been here almost since the Forum's inception. I was there to see Sluzzy. I was there for Orion getting his crown, and I was there to see him abandon DBD forever. I was there when @Fibijean lost their Trusted status. I was there when we all came together to honor @Cheers. I was there when we still had Awesomes (picture below for proof). I have seen just about everything that happened to this place. And now I'm here to watch it die. It's kind of poetic.

You claim that "user activity and engagement" has dropped substantially. Yeah, that'll happen when you ban all of the regulars and have a moderation policy that doesn't allow for strikes to decay, allowing someone to go literal years without issue, then get perma-banned because they were a troublemaker seven years ago.

I know this was a decision from the higher ups, but YOU are the ones responsible for the REASON the decision came down to begin with. Everyone was SCARED that anything they said would lead to a warning because there was never any clear idea of what was and wasn't allowed. The digital blood of this Forum is on YOUR hands. None of those other platforms will REMOTELY compare to what you had here, where you can actually sort things properly (only Steam has that, and even then… what good is that for console users).

It's disappointing, but not surprising. I miss what the Forums used to be. But I'm also pretty sure that died a long time ago.
