The MMR Paradox
MMR seems to have been completely reset, meaning I have to play against new players.. which isn't fun for either side because I just stomp them every game.. but if I'm not having fun and stop playing I will continue to stay in baby lobbies..
Is there any way we could boost players MMR based on their previous MMR values? This change was genuinely amazing for the longevity of the game yet BHVR somehow ruined it? It is genuinely sad as I am one of THE BHVR glazers, and I just haven't been having fun. My teammates and opponents are nowhere near my skill level, as a survivor I am untouchable, as killer chases end in under 20 seconds.
And to any fellow forum members reading this I had a bunch of fun arguing with you guys throughout my time on forums, here's hoping you guys continue to guide new players in this game. Pretty pathetic we can no longer to afford to host what is likely a very cheap to maintain 10 year old forum. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Killer players never satisfied. Playing against coordinated swfs, they complain and when playing against casual players they are not satisfied either. What exactly do they espect I wonder.

I don't think you understand this post.. I'm complaining that I am not going against coordinated teams who challenge me, it is extremely mind numbingly boring to stomp people with 30-100 hours. I literally only want to play against good players so I can get better as that is what I find fun.
No need to be a loser and turn this into Us vs Them.. I'm having the same problem on the survivor side.

Do you maybe switch a lot between killers? Because killers have their own mmr per character, so you have to play up your way to high mmr with every single killer you play. Of course you can also only play one and it should be dragged up after some time on others, but not to a point where it's even but probably still a bit beneath your highest mmr.
Also from what I would say as a web developer this forum is pretty cheap to maintain. It doesn't seem to get updated frequently and it shouldn't cost too much ressources to save the messages. The videos and picture are another thing depending on their scedule to clean up old pictures and videos and compression of them - as far as I've seen they save discussions for years so it might ramp up over time. I also don't think that it needs a lot of ram or cpu as it basically just reads and writes from a databank and loads pictures and videos from the server.
That being said, I'm not sure if it's even selfhosted or from a platform that you pay for it. That might be pretty costly then because they charge a lot of things and most importantly with prices for companies specifically I'd assume.

At the time of this post I was playing every killer but now I'm back on Wesker since he's been fixed. Thanks for the insight on both subjects!

Then your mmr on wesker should recover if you play him for a while now. The other killers should be dragged after him after some time but a bit beneath him like I said :D
At least according to claude it seems to be higher logic vanilla (a plattform hosting forums that seems to be used by a lot of gaming companies) btw. Claudes guess is around 25k-50k per year, their minimum seems to be 24k so I assume 40-50k might be more realistic. That being said, would they host it themself it would be down to just a few thousands depending on configuration. With claude you wouldn't even need a team to maintain it (honestly even without not, but then it's just a project on the side without any time investment basically because you can work on multiple things at the same time), you're quite fast like this even alone, so this would be enough. Moderations costs are something else but even then it's easy to keep the forum running I would think.
So even tho it could be a lot cheaper probably, I don't think it's the money - bhvr should make a lot of money to not really care about that. It seems to be likely that it's really the user-count and if it's worth to invest that kind of money into it then.

The paradox of mmr is that you will go against babies which is boring untill you only go against coordinated squads which is frustration. And the cycle repears. I personally don't believe mmr is working at all. I have baby teams after days of consecutive 4ks on one killer and very coordinated swfs on killers I rarely play.

Yeah the "new" MMR is also draining the fun out of the game for me, although in the opposite way.
Not gonna lie, the "new" MMR is much worse than the previous one. To the point where I'm playing less and less, and I'm honestly considering just dropping it because I'm no longer having fun on either side due to my main Killer being Nemesis (a mid Killer in terms of sheer strength lets be honest, he's not bottom-tier by any means but he's not the kind of Killer that can compete against good squads while having actual fun) and not really playing into the meta perks all the time as Survivors.
I'm the kind of player that really didn't care about winning as Killer, in fact it was the contrary, I would go for 8 hooks before either turning friendly/farming or help Survivors get some unreasonably difficult achievements. Sometimes, either against a bully quad or toxic/sandbagging Survivors, I would play seriously and get kills, but I usually had fun by not having to play like my life depended on it and making the game less miserable for other people. I'm not bad at the game, but I'm not a pro player either.
Now, a few weeks after the "new" MMR and still playing for 8 hooks games, all I get are navy seals squads as Killer. As Nemesis, or any Killer that isn't among the stronger/faster ones, I literally do not have the map presence and lethality to commit to chases against people that play like they are in a scrim and not pubs. By the end of the game I usually have 5-6 hooks and 0k because I do my best to not tunnel, and there's no fun to be had, if I try to not sweat then the games are over in a matter of less than 10 minutes.
As Survivor, I'm usually the support and/or gen-doer of the group even in SoloQ. I'm decent at chase but not perfect either even if I had some coaching from a couple pro players over the years, so unless I get tunneled out early then I usually end up with very high or maxed Objective and Altruism scores even if I die late-game. Now, after a few weeks, I don't think I've ever faced so many Blights, Billy and Ghouls in terms of frequency (not a lot of Nurses due to sheer skill floor I assume) that play like their life is on the line. Almost all of my Survivors games is one of them, and unfortunately, when it's not one of them, then it's either a complete humiliation (sometimes DC) for them or they get 1 or 2 kills through hard-tunneling while the others go almost untouched. It's just not fun even when I do escape.

In the end MMR is a lie, if you have exact same wait time on every killer and keep getting babies after winning score of matches it pipoints that it's not working as intended.

In the honest I feel that a lot of people can't play killer efficiently. Not talking about tunneling but about macro play and abandoning chases in the right time. Guys are complaining that they are losing 3 gens in one chase, but the answer is simple, they stay in prolonged chases instead of splitting pressure.
