Remember DBD Livestream videos from ~2017?
Sometimes I like to go back to some old Dead by Daylight official videos and think back to what Dead by Daylight game used to be like. Lately though, after Behaviour decided to cut back on the weekly livestreams, I've been reminiscing more about the actual livestreams from ~2017 instead.
And I miss it.
I miss the constant acknowledgment of all the different bugs they were fixing and working on (or at least attempting to). I miss the openness of events and contents they were planning to add in the future. I miss the frequent "bloody stats" that, although sometimes flawed, were interesting and let us at least know their perspective of why they are doing certain things their way. And I miss the weekly Q&As. Yes, if you remember, Q&A happened pretty much every single week. And they weren't usually even restricted to a certain topic or subject. Sure, some of the questions being answered were lore-based or a flippant questions that deserved a flippant response, but there were some shining moments of information being passed down to us that gave us a better understanding of the game as a whole.
Man, I miss that.
I understand that from Behaviour's perspective, the weekly livestreams sometimes just feels like forced communication, but from my perspective as a customer, that's exactly what we enjoyed about it. We appreciated the fact that you, the developers, were reaching out to the players despite the fact that it was difficult to do so - we felt valued because you were willing to take that extra step to communicate things to us that you may believe aren't necessary or important. To you, it may feel like a waste of time, but to us, they were valuable information that couldn't have come from anywhere else.

Forced is better than next to nothing. 2019 communication has been butt.
Video Q&As (The ones with McLean and Horvath chatting not reddit or forums) and Dev streams like the ones mentioned above are what everyone loves.
Discord/Forum/Reddit communication just isn't on the same level @not_Queen
Especially that one time where the activity was a discord play with the devs that wasn't streamed. That would be better if the people who can't get in could watch you guys play.

😭 I miss these too!

Yeah, I understand why they cut back on doing the livestreams every week, but I really do miss the updates.
When was the last time they released the Kill Rates or Perk Usage charts? Feels like they haven't done that in forever.

Bring them back!

Yeah we've received practically zero communication this year. It has been dead quiet. We have no idea what's going on, if problems have been acknowledged or even what's in the pipeline. I was looking forward to some communication today but instead just a Mash Up.

Well if they had weekly streams, after the third one since the DC epidemic, people would instead be saying "stop streaming and get to work!" ... i can see how they're pinned in situations where there are game-breaking issues and no easy solution that they can see, having nothing to say than their apologies and that its being worked on.
Already a pretty good portion of the comments on streams are pretty negative and toxic in nature or fueled by the "(Killer / Survivor) main mentality"

I'm Hillbilly for tryharding but currently I'm more into roleplaying Leatherface.
In the end it's just Hillbilly with a mask on... 😉

Im just hoping that BHVR is focusing all their energy on fixing the game right now (in particular dedicated servers etc), or otherwise the game will indeed die soon

We are working on getting this communication level back.
I am actually happy to see all this feedback lately because it allows our Community team to bring back activities and communications like the Q&A videos and even more (new-ish) stuff!
I loved the old bug / focus report a lot which is why we are trying something new called Developer Update. That's what we've been working on this week (this and even more communication items for next week). I hope you guys will enjoy.
We will ramp our Communication back up and hopefully exceed what we were doing before. Thanks for always keeping us in check with your feedback. :)

Nice, does this mean MCote will have more chances to gift us other precious memes?

Thanks for the Developer Update, @not_Queen !
Although I do personally prefer the more candid and unpolished approach of livestreams where I can see human interactions, I also understand that many people would much more prefer the blog update that you have posted for us, which sounds more official and definite. Moreover, I'm sure most people appreciated the amount of content that is contained in this particular Developer Update, especially since they were all topics that seem to come up again and again by the community.
I do hope that these Developer Updates continues to be posted fairly frequently, even if they just contain small amount of information each time. Even tidbits like "Top 5 Bugs We are Working On" with what the developers have recently attempted and how they are planning to tackle these bugs would probably be very much appreciated.
Thanks for all the effort you are putting back into communicating with us!

"More communication. How is the communication in the last few weeks? Let us know. Because we worked hard on this. (Yeah, we did.) Yeah, yay!" (Dev Stream, 4/25/19)
Just letting you know that I (and I'm sure most of us) really, really appreciate the effort that you guys have been putting into the numerous amount of communication for your community in the last few weeks, from the 3 Q&As to the several updates in the News section of the forum, as well as the seemingly more activity and involvement (coincidence?) by the moderators. I think that even though sometimes some parts of community may not agree with some of the game designing directions of Behaviour, it at least help us understand the reasons for them. I am sincerely hoping that this trend will be able to continue! Thank you!
PS - (If possible, it would be nice to have some generic Q&As on some occasions also, since I usually have questions that are unrelated to current hot DBD topics. But that's just a small request.)

@knell Thanks again for your feedback. And no, more involvement by the CM team is not a coincidence :)
We are trying a lot of different things and adjusting to a lot of changes within our team but hopefully it is starting to pay off!
Generic Q&As would be fine, we actually tried to revive the ones on Reddit with the Reddit mods. Will keep you posted when we get them back up and running!
