Why is the hatch open when only 1 generator is done?
I just had a game where I killed 3 survivors and the 4th was slugged. I couldnt find the slugged survivor, but I heard the hatch and closed it. This activated adrenaline and the survivor escaped. Now I don't mind that they escaped but why is the hatch open when 4 gens are left?

The hatch will spawn and open when 1 survivor is left. No matter what.

Because the devs want to give Survivors a million chances to escape. They could've given something to reward the Killer for doing a good job, but instead gave them a way to speed up the game and still kept escaping as a Survivor ridiculously easy.

It's intended so they have a slim chance to escape when they are the only one left AFTER you close the hatch.

I don't agree with the hatch spawning anytime either, but its by far a "EZ ESCAPE GG" for the last survivor now.
If anything its an EZ win for the killer if they find the hatch first.

Previously, the hatch would only spawn if: Number of Survivors alive + 1 generators have been completed.
This made it so if there's one guy left and only one generator has been powered, the Survivor was pretty much screwed. They had to power a generator while the Killer patrols them. Since it would take 80 seconds to complete a generator alone, the Survivor never really had an opening to actually finish one. As a result, many people would just hide for a long time until the Killer lost interest and gives up or disconnects.
Obviously this is not ideal, so with the new changes, the hatch spawns no matter how many generators have been completed. If the Killer closes it, the End Game starts. At this point the Survivor is going to either escape through the gates, get caught trying, or die to the Entity if they don't make a move. In any scenario the game will end shortly and everyone will get to move on to their next match.

I guess I missed that change but it makes sense. I could have left the hatch open. They would have either bled out or crawled to the hatch where I could pick them up.

You're right, it's not THAT easy, but it's still pretty easy and doesn't reward skill. If the Killer managed to capitalize on the Survivor team's mistakes and get three kills before 2 gens were completed, then they deserve to get that last kill. The Survivor shouldn't have a chance to jump out the Hatch and just escape for free. Why couldn't the Killer receive permanent aura reading at an unlimited range if the Survivor was not actually trying to escape and would just try to become completely immersed until the Killer gave up?

@SnakeSound222 The killer who gets three kills deserves three kills. They don't deserve the last kill because they haven't earned it whatsoever.
Why do you consider finding an alternative objective a "free" escape? It's not free when you have to do something for it: i.e. find it before an undefeatable, faster Killer does.

They managed to get three kills before two gens were powered. Given how easy it is to repair gens, that means the Killer did something right. They don't deserve to lose out on a 4k because of a no-skill second objective.
Finding the Hatch as a Survivor is a free escape because you literally have to do nothing. All you have to do is crouch around and it's yours.

Makes sense, while I enjoy the new End Game Collapse I still believe the gates need better spawns.
I understand its RNG but having them spawn literally right next to each other while theirs a hill to view both of them "Like I had in one game" isn't exactly fair now is it? You can't do gens in the Collapse, you can't go to the gate or the killer sees you, you can't...do anything really unless you get a lucky key grab from a box.

I'm okay with the hatch opening for the last survivor, I don't have to look for hours for one immersed Claudette and if they find the hatch it's a gg. If I find it I'm gonna win because survivors are basically screwed in that situation.

You have to remember that the dev's balance for 2 escapes and 2 kills. While i don't agree with it spawning before 2 gens either, it does go with their ideals.
