I FINALLY understand why Red Rank got more Serious.
Introduction
Hello, and today we will discuss something that I finally unearthed after wondering for so long. "Why did Red Ranks get so much more serious/competitive within my 3 month break?" And the answer is simple, lets get right into it...
The question
Before we do that though, lets discuss what I'm even talking about. For awhile, I noticed after returning from a 3 month break that Red Ranks and Purple Ranks have gotten a bit more... Try hardy, or serious as of late. Hell, even the toxicity is up with more SWFs being a common thing to come across, when 3 months ago it was some what frequent but not really...
I asked others and myself, "How could it get this competitive this fast after 3 months? Survivors are becoming less idiotic, less potatoes exist in Red and Purple Ranks, and everyone is in-general actually in a sense "giting gud" after just 3 months.
Than I realized something... Something that was so obvious that even I was amazed on how I over looked it...
The answer
Survivors are not "giting gud" or at least that's not the point i'm making... Its that the potatoes that inhabited Red and Purple ranks are gone... Allow me to explain.
For one, I talked to Peanits on the subject a few discussions ago, and I noticed that after bring up something in a past discussion...
That I just realized what has happened. The Ranking system has finally been optimized to require more "skill" when ranking up. Any boosted Survivor could hit rank 1, may this be Killer or Survivor, and even Peanits admits this (Literally admitting even he hit rank 1 and is self proclaimed "boosted") and as the Ranking system was changed to require more skill or if you want to stretch it "Doing your objective" I realized that THIS IS WHY all the potatoes that were in Red Ranks and even Purple Ranks are gone...
They went to their proper ranks... Survivors didn't get gud, its just the bracket of Survivors that ARE GOOD are in the correct ranks now... That's why I keep noticing more and more SWFs, this is why I never see anymore bad plays (At least not as often as 3 months ago...) this... is why... the game is so difficult for killers at red ranks now.
Now before you say it, "So you're complaining that your GG EZ wins are gone, HA, typical complaining Killer main" and no... That's not what i'm saying... I'm finally able to face Survivors that're within my skill set and i'm glad for that (Except if you want to see the rest of my opinion on it its in the other discussion...) and with that, I can actually get a challenge.
But this would explain A LOT as of late with the constant Gen rushing and more noticeable skill being shown in matches. Its that the actual "good survivors" are in Red Ranks now, and the potatoes are where they should be which is Green or Purple. It all makes sense now... Of course Survivors can get better over time don't get me wrong, but it would explain a lot of things as of late now...
Conclusion
Things have progressed so much in 3 months its amazing and interesting...
Of course more issues arise from this, so there's also that... As for whats next with the map reworks and loop reworks we'll have to see how the current meta adjusts to that.
tl;DR
The potatoe Survivors are in their respective Ranks now because of the changes with the ranking system.
This would explain why more Survivors with actual skill are showing up in red ranks, its because they were always there but overshadowed by the wave of bad players that could easily get to red ranks every season. It all makes sense now, and explains why the current meta is so fast paced and serious than it was 3 months ago.

I feel personally attacked.

The most confusing comment of the day, too many things could be drawn to that comment...

I'm going to take this as a challenge then. Rank 1 randomized perks every match let's go

That's the SPIRIT!
1 -
That's not the Spirit, this is the Spirit.
I'll see myself out, thank you.
4 -
At least the joke had spirit.
5 -
He is saying that he is in low ranks, I think.
0 -
Why...
0 -
@TreemanXD Oh.
2 -
Yes red ranks have more skilled players like he should be. We now see how the game balance is so fragile for killers, exception to Nurse/billy.
0 -
Spirit and hag too.
2 -
Yeah... no. There are still more than enough potato survivors in Red Ranks.
Potato Survivors
- Go down in 10 seconds or less ✓
- Urban Evasion ✓
- Crouch all the time ✓
- Hide in a locker when they hear TR ✓
- Do nothing but crouch in a corner all game ✓
- Instead of helping they camp the hatch ✓
- Always drop the pallet when the killer is like a mile behind them ✓
- Never look back ✓
- Always drop the shack pallet way too early, wasting it ✓
^ That happens in Red Ranks way too much. Especially the first point.

A perk doesn’t make them bad.

No Mither says hello

@NuclearBurrito I’ve seen some good no mither players. *cries*

Also, a 3 month break will cause a loss of a significant amount of skill and knowledge gained from daily practice. This is why summer vacation is hated so much by the educational system, and why countries like Japan have school years that encompas most of the year with small breaks through out.
But yes, ther new pipping system means that better people are in all the ranks, and that it's harder to rank as a killer, due to our interesting pipping requirements. (I have, plenty of times, lost a pip with 2 kills for instance even thoguh I though mosta really good games on both sides.)

Solo player here: potatoes still exists, I'm getting 2/3 potatoes as mates every match.
That's probably not the reason

I can't lie, dude dropped shack pallet today, when I was Wraith, and I hadn't even UNCLOAK yet. I just started laughing because I was playing base Wraith with no add on.

You'll think twice about Urban when you see me crouch in the middle of a chase and make the Killer reevaluate his life choices.
2 -
If one is gone for 3 months do they comeback a red rank and be able to make this conclusion?
0 -
I don't really see that the "potatoe players" are gone from the high ranks. If I take a look at red ranks, there is still a big amount of players who get downed within 10 seconds or who make very bad tactical decisions.
I don't really see a difference with killers, either. There are some very skilled players and there are others who aren't.
But I have the impression that there are overall less people playing in the high ranks.

Yes but they would play even better if they ran a perk besides no mither.
0 -
That's not kind laughing over disabled players lol. seriously i only get god survivors at red ranks or it's me playing like a noob both are possible.
SwF laugh when i play no add ons nurse i manage to get 6-8 hook but don't manage to kill them. When i bring omega blinks so much salty from them.

More like survivors running ds, mom, dead hard/sprintburst, ader. all together, that's what it is.

True

@knjhw I don't follow, is this like making fun of how I could possible be at red ranks again...
Or is this agreeing with me, saying that how could I possible come to this conclusion if I wasn't in red ranks?
I don't know which one you mean because this doesn't tie into anyone else's comment here, or at least not directly mentioning them...

Not every Red Ranker is a god @NoShinyPony but the majority of Red Rankers 3 months ago were worse than what you've probably seen the past few weeks.
Some would die in 10 seconds yes, but they'd also hide in lockers right in front of you, DH into a wall, drop pallets 5 miles away, do nothing but hide till hatch spawns, let their teammates rot of hook, etc, etc. And while this can be shown today still, its way less than it was 3 months ago.
This all ties into why the games so fast pace all of a sudden these past few weeks, it wasn't like this 3 months ago... or at least not to this degree.

@NuclearBurrito No Mither doesn't make Survivors any less skilled than they already were, it just brings you down from 2 hits till downed, to 1. Nothing more, nothing less. Its easier to down them yes, but that doesn't mean they still can't give you a run for your money.
A perk doesn't make a Survivor bad, it all depends on their own innate skill.

@FireHazard That's just not my personal experience. Sadly, a lot of people are dc'ing when they don't have a successful game and don't depip, so these players climb to and stay at high ranks even if they don't belong there skill-wise.

@NoShinyPony Nobody's experience is one in the same. Unfortunately this is yours.

Neither, after being gone for 3 months how do you come back to make this decision? That would be at least one rank reduction.. So unless you were like rank one i dont see how your still in red ranks being able to make this drawn out conclusin about red ranks. So maybe you were rank one and now your 5 and you can make the conclusion. I kinda puzzled of the conclusion upon reading that you were gone for three months. Sure it would be great if a so called "potato" was a 15 again.. I get it man i was in purple... With "potatoes?" And it sucks to play with them because they can beat you into a rank to get you more "potatoed?". Its great your complimenting a more blanced ranking system coming about though glad to hear..

Sounds like only a newb drops a shack pallet at the beging? Were did that conclusion come from😂
0 -
@FireHazard Exactly. One can't argue about personal experiences.

Yeah, I play Spirit at rank 4 (trying to learn Billy depipped me from rank 2 :C ) and I face SWF all the time. It's a good challenge, I tend to win but when I lose I love it, and try to learn from it.
I'm all for these serious high ranks. Btw, only sad thing is, that I get memers like once every 4 months :C. It's sad because meme games are my favourite.

I was Rank One in the past before I left for three months... And I was Rank One for most of the seasons I've played in my 960 hours...
Of course at the start no, but after like 50 hours I got the hang of it. And me returning didn't really dull my skills that much, I still get to Red Rank and even Rank One last Season, its just harder to get there now because of the new ranking system.
So yes... I think I can draw these conclusions just fine with enough back up to them.
