Ghostface not popular anymore?
In my last 12 survivor matches, i´ve only faced 2 Ghostfaces.
So did people already stop playing him?

Yes, I only saw 3 or 5 GF since the launch. Now I'm just facing Nurses, Spirits or Billys... I ask me why 👁️👁️
2 -
They probably leveled him during the Double BP event. And now he is not brand new anymore, this will also do something for that.
But I think that playing him during Double BP was the easiest way to level him/prestige him, so during that time he was played the most.

You know every game has the new character hype that dies in a week, maybe 2
4 -
I've been using him since launch but am struggling without Ruin, especially with the Wake Up bug.
I have spent over 2 mil on him and have the worst perks! The bloodweb spawning is ridiculous. Much harder when you have all teachables.
2 -
Still gettin about 3 3/4 ghost face. r10ish though atm
1 -
I dont have BBQ & Chili on him.
So Im just gonna level him up until I find it
2 -
Pre nerf he isn’t that good.
0 -
let's wait for his "nerf" that will make him extremely viable again
5 -
Hm, weird, another post some hours ago stated the exact opposite. I guess it all comes down to anedoctal experience.
I am playing GF only, when I'm not playing with my gf (ye, the other one).

It is very fun to face people 12-20 range with ghostface, but when you are in red and purple range is when the killer has more problems, the killer needs buff no nerfs. The sounds that ghostface has in stealth mode should be totally stealthy, the sounds he has are directional is what makes him lose all the potential of stealthy killer, therefore, is not considered a good killer, also break the stealth mode to look is very inconsistent, sometimes the survivor will break it very easy, being hidden, has many problems and devs do not know

I’m still playing him on PS4.

I think the sudden drop in popularity of Ghost Face is happening for 2 reasons:
- Survivors have learned quickly and adapted to his play-style, are now more consistently countering him, and creating builds that render him a lower threat in anticipation of going up against him.
- Killer mains are learning his tier is mid or C tier at best (lower than that if against SWF), and with the incoming nerfs he may not even hold onto that tier for much longer.
Yeah, It was fun while it lasted, but his viability is limited when everyone is anticipating fighting him and are more ready for it now than they were at the time of his release. Once things calm down on the survivor side, and less are using perks to directly counter him, we may see another slight rise in his popularity in another week or two. Overall, he has a high skill ceiling, but not much viability for higher ranks, and gets devastated by OoO and SWF teams, so putting in the effort to get really good with him but still get trashed by a single perk or voice comm teams is disheartening and frustrating. Add in the incoming nerfs though, and he's no longer as appealing a Killer to play when we have other more viable options that have far fewer weaknesses to perks or SWF teams.
Also, with the Wake-Up bug being abused heavily, the only real options for killer players are to use the ones with the highest mobility and map pressure, because selecting any standard killer like GF will almost always result in a swift defeat and lower BP gain.

I remember back when Myers came out. 2 weeks, maybe less you could only play against Myers. He was creepy back then because the game was still scary af. It was the first Killer which looked like a normal human and that's why it was really scary, on top of the low Terror Radius.
Btw, I play only Ghostface at the moment cuz I wanna know how he really works. He seems okay, but against high ranks he is just a regular mid tier Killer which might get 1 or 2 Survivors.
I got a 4man on Haddonfield before against 3x BL. I am surprised that I even got someone but not 4man.

Here's the devs notes for the upcoming Hotfix and what they are going to change regarding GF, most of us consider these changes to be nerfs, and after reading them you'll likely understand why:
- Stalk rate add-ons: Telephoto Lens (-0.5 sec to -0.25 sec), Night Vision Monocular (-1.0 sec to -0.75 sec) are slightly reduced.
- Pallet stuns will now break Ghost Face out of stealth. (Bug fix: to make him standard to our other killers; Legion, Plague)
- Marked Survivors may no longer be stalked. (Bug fix: This was a planned change that was omitted in the 2nd PTB patch. We increased the Mark lasting time from 20 sec to 45 sec, but we wanted to remove his ability to keep Stalking a Mark Survivor to balance that change.)
- Killer Instinct base duration slightly increased. (1.5 to 2 sec)
- Killer Instinct add-on (Marked Map 0.5 to 1 sec, Victim’s Detailed Routine 1 sec to 1.5 sec) duration slightly increased.
- Detection area of the screen slightly increased for Survivors attempting to reveal Ghost Face. (Slightly enlarged by 4% on each side of the screen, for a total of 8%) While in a chase, the Killer was harder than expected to break out of his Power, we didn’t want to alter the current timers so we decided to slightly enlarge the Detection Area on screen to help out.)

UPCOMING HOTFIX PATCH
DEV NOTE: We have made some slight adjustments to Ghost Face following the second PTB. Unfortunately, they have not made it into the current patch but will be introduced in an upcoming hotfix in the near future. Thank you for your understanding.
BALANCE
The Ghost Face:
- Stalk rate add-ons: Telephoto Lens (-0.5 sec to -0.25 sec), Night Vision Monocular (-1.0 sec to -0.75 sec) are slightly reduced.
- Pallet stuns will now break Ghost Face out of stealth. (Bug fix: to make him standard to our other killers; Legion, Plague)

Its because any killer main who plays him realizes you get your power taken away so easily, you are basically running around as an m1 killer hiding from survivors. And they are planning on making him easier to detect andf take his power, LUL
Sure survivor mains who play him will have fun, but real killer mains just go back to their main after a few days and prestige him. I went right back to Hag..
Ghostface is weak compared to hag.
4 -
And they are nerfing him lol.
2 -
Yes. Goodbye Ghostface :(
I saw a lot of players playing the Spirit

You’re not playing him right is the issue haha

So, in order to "play him right", you have to crouch around the entire game in your power, sneak everywhere and be super immersed, basically?
When you don't have the time to do that?
You do that and you will be genrushed.
11 -
Ever feel like you're trapped in an endless cycle with the answers to the problem, but no one will listen? Pretty sure a lot of the community is getting some hard deju vu at the moment.
3 -
No lol you make smart choices for when you should crouch or not be crouching. But you should be activating night shroud as often as you can. No need to be all immersed if you have night shroud activated, start walking towards gens, if you hear survivors moving or gen being worked on start crouching before you get too close then get jump on them... he’s pretty simple to understand. I don’t know why people are complaining about him and his perks so much. Use the terrain and hide your bloodstain... but this should be common knowledge for any killer at this point if you’re not new to the game. He’s a mindgame killer.

I’ve been playing Ghostface and am in love. I understand some of the nerfs coming like being able to stalk already stalked survivors. But he is very effective and you definitely don’t need ruin been using discordance and omg it’s hilariously getting two exposes at a gen and then scatter like flys and boom boom down lol
3 -
I would if my lobbies weren't filled with wake up genrushers
4 -
What are you talking about? Ive streamed both playing him numerous ways, including not stalking, which you do better with him not stalking at all, have gotten 4 ks, if you stalk too much you gonna lose.

This happens a lot, especially with regard to low tier characters in most games. There's always people who claim there's some super secret, special way to play a character generally deemed underwhelming by the majority (and of course, they've figured it out because of their big, sexy brain). Rarely, RARELY, they end up being right. Usually it's just someone talking out their butt or playing in an environment where both sides are not being tested to the fullest of their ability (ex. against good survivors/killers). Usually these are just broad claims with no actual evidence backing it, so I'd take it with half a grain of salt.
Don't think too much about it, as I doubt there's anything to 'figure out' about Ghostface that hasn't already been found (and deemed meh or terrible). But hey, here's hoping a miracle happens.
3 -
Totally. I'm pretty much a Hag Main so sure I was excited about Ghostface, but I went right back to Hag after about 20 matches as GF. He is nowhere near powerful as my love, Lisa Sherwood.
3 -
I got a lot of people who confused Wake up with Vigil. Vigil is not an often used perk and all of a sudden I get 4 people using it. There you can see it, Survivor Mains who have 2 1/2 braincells who can't even recognize 2 different perks are the ones who abuse every #########.

You can blame the "Developers" for putting on such a quick nerf without any real information given within the days of his release, the way you have to look at him to take him out of his power is bugged, but people see it as that it's just too hard, but we already have a lot of people saying that it's not, and it's clearly not hard taking him out of power, it's just bugged sometimes, but the developers think that "Oh we should just make the view bigger so people can take him out of his power easier" When that won't work if the bug is still there, but you know, the developers are naive. So with that in place, people are reluctant to play as him or even buy him now, to start giving the developers a message that until the nerfs are reverted or not put in, nobody's going to play him or buy him, because of these so-called "Developers"
2 -
Also might I add another note to it, everybody was hyped for Ghostface finally coming to DBD, you could tell people were going to play the crap out of him, but now because of what the developers are doing, they killed the hype for him, everything from the first released to the PTB, the buff, and now again with another Nerf, instead of actually looking into it and seeing that it's actually a bug
2 -
Most of the killers I face are Ghostfaces, plus I'm still enjoying him.
Still popular from what I can see.

My friend and I like to play Ghost Face just to meme. I watched him have a teabag-off with a Laurie running OoO. He was inside the killer shack, she was outside of it. They just kept butt dancing at each others' auras for half the match. Quality gameplay.

I play on Xbox and I've been playing ghost face since release and can't stop playing him I'm in love with him and I always love having fun with him and I see a lot of people as ghost face in the Xbox so I say he's not dead at least not on Xbox
1 -
He like the plague hyped up then people forget about him
0 -
Ghostface is not viable at red ranks/against competent survivors.
0 -
I’m mainly seeing him.
0 -
That's exactly the issue, you see him and rob his power.
4 -
I played 10 matches today as survivor. Two Hillbillys, two Plagues, Michael, Pig, Freddy, Wraith and two Ghostfaces.
Big difference from the previous two days when 90% of my games were against Ghostface.
0 -
Please, tell me more about how you smarter at game development than said "developers"
1 -
As expected people learned how to counter him and he went from fun to frustrating
And he's still getting nerfed
3 -
Okay I ended up playing 25+ matches and only saw those 2 Ghostfaces. Tons of Spirits and nurses. Some Billy's, huntress, even a Freddy.
That hype died REALLY fast.
I assume he'll get his mains. But the majority will stay with Billy, Nurse and Spirit.
What a shame.
1 -
Alot of ppl dont play him of alot of reasons
1.- make him p3 and having all the perks to make good builds
2.-next patch he will get a nerf and a small buff
3.-hes not viable at red rank since he dosent have any mobility and map preassure
0 -
The problem is, the devs won't release Killers like Nurse, Spirit, Hag, Billy anymore cuz they want to make the game balanced, ikr red ranks and balanced = impossible.
Every patch they release some balance updates also. This time mettle of man got nerfed, fast vault exploits got removed. They are definitely on the right path. If they wouldn't release a Killer every 3 months they could make that even faster. It's not the Killers fault that most of them aren't viable, it's still the red ranks which aren't balanced at all. Every Killer is viable on every rank above red ranks, so red ranks is the only thing which isn't balanced besides instaheals, keys and Moris. Also there are a few other things which need a look, but I have a feeling it won't take that long anymore to get this game on the right spot.

If Ghostygoo had a few decent add ons he could be really good but his add-ons are just things you need to add because at base he isn't strong enough.
I've played against some Ghostygoos who didn't know what they were doing. They surely will have a horrible time trying to figure him out now

Last but not least, I think he isn't a good killer... I actually play him because I think he is funny, but he is nothing compared to "viable" killers like spirit for example...
Finally easy to loop and easy to reveal.
Actually I meet 2 kind of survs. Survs who know how he works and survs who don't.
Some people even don't reveal me in chase and some of them even manage to reveal me while they stand behind a wall or a stone....
He suffers same issues like many other killers. 2 perks are nearly set with spirit fury and enduring and then is the question how to bring ruin in there. Not thatany options.
This is what he actually feels like for me..

Mid tier killer that gets countered by CWF and OoO? Yeah I tried couple games this Friday and switched back to Billy, its been fun watching the OoO fkboys having a hard time.
