The one problem with letting killers place Totems

It would destroy the meta as we know it. You know what the top rank build would be?

Thrill, Ruin, Huntress, Devour hope. Why? Plop those SOBs down right in a pile by a three gen and just wait at that point. You've just stun locked the game for all but the BEST survivors and as a Killer main I think it would be fun for a whole week until I get board of it.

I love the idea at the core, but I think those suggesting it aren't covering this core problem in t heir suggestion. I personally am a fan of letting killers re lite dull totems with hexes that have been destroyed and or use a short channel action to rebuild a broken totems.

your problem can be circumvented by something as easy as a minimum distance requirement.

@LordGlint That is very true, But I do believe it things like the limits for that type of thing should be listed in suggestions.

But that is a VERY good point. If you leave the setting of totems in the killer's hands then you can increase how far totems HAVE to be.

What if you could place totems but the totem locations were in pre-determined locations similar to pallets? Would that be an issue?

The biggest thing that currently irks people is how often a totem will spawn 3 ft away from a gen, or ontop of a hill. The thing might as well be a beacon screaming "Break me". Very rarely... ill spawn in, see my totem on the top floor of a house in Springwood with no gen anywhere near it and just KNOW...that ruin is lasting all game. I can understand the problem with having them too easy to defend though, I just want em a little more out of sight.

What I always figures these suggestions were meaning is that there would be more totem spawns out In the world by default, but that you could pick any single one of those spawns that a totem would usually pick. But if killers are allowed to pick totem spawns I want it to be *before the game* otherwise it would be useless tbh.

So far a lot of good ideas already tossed out in how to possibly fix the totems. I love it.

I'd be fine with a short setup time if that's what you're suggesting. For killers to navigate the map to set stuff you could just put them in a "ghost" mode where they move super fast until the actual trial begins.

I think the largest issue with letting killers place totems, is the same problems that Hag and Trapper have.

    1. It takes precious time to setup.
    2. Survivors that are in your area can see where you place them, and then disarm/cleanse them when you leave.

True the current RNG is garbage, often spawning totems less than 10 meters from a survivors spawn point or a gen, but at least the random nature of the totems means that other times survivors have to scour the map to find the right totem(s), which wastes the survivors time instead of the killers. Giving killers the ability to plant their totems where ever they want will also create new issues of killers discovering impossible to reach places, and or bugged locations that will be unfair to the survivors until they get fixed, but even then all a killer has to do is take up a strategy like planting them all in the basement to ensure even if a survivor manages to cleanse one, they won't be getting out of there.

The only things this game needs in regards to totems is better hiding locations for totems in ample amounts scattered all over the map, and totem identities available to the killer at all times so they know what is being cleansed and where. Also they need to make Thrill of the Hunt, and Huntress lullaby normal perks and not hexes since they aren't OP enough to qualify for the hex status.
