Freddy re-work any good?
Play on ps4 so, yeah... How's the re-work PC warriors? Don't tell me they killed my favorite character again...

Update just released some mins ago, but as far as i can tell, it seems pretty fun ngl

So far he's looking pretty good. I'll probably need a few more days to form a better judgement of him but at the moment it's definitely an improvement. Although I wish they would tone down the dream world effect on Freddy's view. They did that with survivors from my understanding.

Watching a couple of streamers play while downloading the update. So far, he seems better at chases and with the right perk set-up he can be devastating. But I'll have to play him first to properly judge his new kit.

the addons are beyond trash, the z block just gives hemmorage for 60 seconds.
14 -
Can someone put up the list of addons?
0 -
Are you serious? That's straight bullshit. They refuse to make add ons threatening lol
7 -
Have you seen his Brush add on the new one? its far from trash
13 -
Here's a list of everything.

Thank you, my friend.
And yeah, what the hell is with a Very Rare add-on (Z-Block) only giving hemorrhaging? Healthy hemorrhaging sounds like barely an upgrade.

I assume the devs thought it'll fit thematically with the Snare slowdown. You know... blood puddle, extra bleeding. Shame that it's pointless.
Rest of the add-ons seem decent though.

He's better than how he is in the live build, but that's about it.

Looks really weak so far. Especially the snares.
1 -
@Blueberry But don't you think the fake pallets look decent? I agree that the snares don't look so powerful.
5 -
The pallets are looking decent. They honestly shouldn've scrapped the snare idea entirely and just given him the pallets at base. It's just awkward now since it requires an addon.

After watching a few streamers play freddy, the only change I see that needs to be implemented is changing the passive sleep. Perhaps the survivor should only gain passive sleep only when freddy is within a certain radius (i.e. 16 m). Other than that he looks like he'll be fun to play.

I agree, the few games I have played he seems great, but the problem is that it's so easy too wake up, making him an M1 killer with no power if a survivor wakes up mid chase, which is possible if they stun you with a pallet.
1 -
@BunnyTheHutt Don't worry he has an ultra rare add-on to prevent that 😎
0 -
What rarity is the pallet add-on? The pics someone posted aren't loading for me.

Common

common, uncommon and rare.

Okay knowing that I don't mind too much. They pile up fast and I don't rely on add-ons generally so I don't mind giving up an add-on slot for Dream Pallets
1 -
Base dream pallet is the rake, common easy to obtain
0 -
115% ms killer that has decent map pressure and can slow survivors (or make fake pallets).
Sadly we already know he is going to get nerfed into the ground.
5 -
I'll need to test how well New Freddy stalls. As of right now, I still think Old Freddy has a higher maximum potential than New Freddy.
1 -
what d o the fake pallets do? i smash them down and they just hit me through it?
0 -
This is a nerf
2 -
Wait, #########, survivors wake up if they pallet stun Freddy? That seems like an incredibly important fact that I don't remember being told about before.
2 -
It's currently way to easy to wake up.
1 -
We need a little buff for the dream snares. At the moment the traps are too weak. The idea is great, but you can't place them fast enough yet. The reduction of the movement speed is not good enough eiter. Furthermore they should reduce the teleport time by one (if not two) second(s).
BUT they are still better than dream pallets imo.

Where did you get that information? If that is happening it's likely a bug

Here's the problem in principle: a PTB is never going to be long enough, with enough people participating, for a meta to evolve. A killer who might seem strong in a PTB can be turn out to be a paper-tiger given time + thousands of monkeys typing in the live game, like Freddy the first time or even Nurse after her initial nerf.
A PTB is okay for finding out the basics, discovering bugs, but is never a good measure of balance.
5 -
By far the strongest licensed killer. Good.
1 -
Agree 100%. I play on PS4 and we don't even get to participate or have a PTB. We just get it as is. Just because it's fixed for PC, doesn't mean it's gonna run the same for console. We need a PTB for console players too. There's a ton of us playing on console now, we need some love too. Lol

Yeah, watching Hexy and something occured to me as he plays against a Freddy using the addon for fake-pallets: SWF with one person awake can tell them whether a pallet is fake or not, so the ones in dream who can see it know to throw it down.
Using that addon against a 3-4 person SWF is basically throwing your only chase utility away.
2 -
...I strongly feel like SWF is the single most broken thing in the game, the game was not intended to have SWF from the start, and the problem needs to be addressed before they rework Ranked to actually matter.
With that said, some people really don't live in reality when discussing SWF or understand why SWF is broken. Hint: SWF groups generally don't consist of a Delta Force squad relaying every movement in real time, with video feeds of every teammate's computer screen.

No, I meant if you get a skillcheck when he is stunned, Freddies power is useless. What I'm saying is that his power is way too reliant on people being asleep but it's too easy too wake up, since no addon reduces skill check chances anymore.
0 -
I mean that's just with self care, it's entirely luck that you'll get the skill check, and unlike before he can down you without waiting that 7 seconds of transition. You also waste time you could spend trying to run from him by healing by a pallet.
2 -
Still watching Hexy and here's another SWF problem for Freddy.
The devs made a point of emphasising that when a survivor falls asleep, their particular clock will spawn the max possible distance from them. They can however still wake each other up if at least one of them is awake.
Hexy used the addon that means they all start in the dream, but because the SWF made sure to start together with an offering and there is a limited number of spots the clock can spawn, a clock inevitably was forced to spawn near them. One of them was able to use it and then they could all wake up quickly together.
Freddy in this sense is uniquely strong against solo survivors, but uniquely weak against SWF who are alreadytesting a meta against him. If the devs are serious about bridging the difference between solo and premade survivors, this is going to be a set-back.
1 -
There is too many ways to wake up being way to easy his making his snares even more useless and good survs can tell the diff between normal pallets and blood pallets

The problem is that Freddy's snares rely on people being asleep and yet the snares are not even that strong. Why are traps that can be easily countered weak? The Hag and the Trapper both have stronger traps and you don't even have to put people to sleep for them to work. While they can be countered, if you step in one of trapper's traps while being chased that's a hook for you. WIth Freddy you might get hit. At least with previous Freddy there was strong incentive to wake up but now that incentive is really low because the traps are not strong enough. Not even the addons make them strong.
And the generator teleportation takes too long and gives too much warning so you are barely saving any time with that, especially with smaller maps.

Let's see. I won't talk about how this rework feels lazy and uninspired, as I think that has already been covered in prior posts. What I will say though is that Freddy is likely going to be mid tier -at best-, and I feel like I'm highballing it at the moment out of desperation to have that two year wait not be a total waste. Otherwise:
- Snares are just as easy to counter as clown gas. Drop the pallet early and he has nothing. I said this even before the PTB went live.
- Dream pallets are kind of gimmicky, and won't be as effective against good survivors that know how pallets generally spawn and in what sort of configuration.
- Three ways to wake up and invalidate his power.
- Teleport is nice to make use of generator perks and definitely needed for traversing big maps. You'll probably never get anything more than a gen kick out of it 99% of the time to be honest.
- Most of his add-ons are, and I don't say this lightly, some of the worst, most unoriginal garbage I've seen yet. They took add-ons that were strong for old Freddy and basically gutted every single one of them. Oh, and should we talk about BVHR's mandatory "causes blind, hemorrhage, etc." crap that they have been copy pasting on a bunch of killers lately? Creatively bankrupt.
It's gotten to the point that I'm not even disappointed or mad, just kind of indifferent. I expect nothing out of BVHR anymore.

Well, watched some footage and he does look fun. The teleport looka pretty decent and fantastic with PGTW. All of his Block add-ons are garbage, plain and simple...what were they thinking? The rest I do like if I'm reading into some of them correctly.
Until I can play him, can't say officially, but I like the options he potentially has. I however feel until we see how he fairs when people actually get used to him before we can see where he'll actually drop into place.

Regarding the dream pallets, if I understand it right, the killer can choose the location? So when a good survivor with map knowledge can see if pallets are in a "wrong spot", then the killer has to choose the spots that are "right", which is the opposite side of the coin. If the killer doesn't have the map knowledge to make right calls, that doesn't make the fake pallets weak, but it means that the killer isn't as good as the survivor in that regard, and that's just how it be sometimes.
1 -
You can only choose to place pallets in places that the game recognizes as "correct". When a map is built there are so many potential spawn points which the game then randomly populates pallets at with a few rules followed. Freddy can put pallets in any of the spots that weren't randomly chosen or can put a fake one in the place of a real one that was broken.
In order for a survivor to never fall for a fake pallet that player would need to run around the entire map and memorize every pallet location while awake. That player would also need perfect information from team mates each time they used a pallet to not fall for a fake pallet that replaced it. This is a near impossible task folks. Any player or team of survivors capable of pulling that off deserves an escape imho.

The dream pallets will be weak by something I like to call the deja vu effect. You'll remember that you've already looped a pallet and dropped it, even on a deja vu level, and are more likely to instinctively avoid it once you start getting used to them.

Does self care still take you out of sleep state if you mess up a skill check?
