Resurrection of the Moonlight Offerings with a new effect?
The Moonlight Offerings have been retired for understandable balancing needs related to the lighting of the various maps, not to mention that in closed environments, such as Lery or The Game, they could not produce any effect.
But since it is a real pity that such beautiful offerings have been shelved (in Dead by Daylight not even a pin should be removed: the evolution must go in one direction only, that of enrichment and expansion!), I would like to mobilize the community for a frank and constructive discussion on how to give them a completely new effect, and a rebirth within the game! Come on, guys, appeal to your creativity, suggest a possible modern use of these offerings, suitable for today's game and tomorrow's prospects! :)
My idea, explained below:
1) is quite simple to implement (the developers are already quite overworked with dedicated servers and new chapter);
2) suggests new playstyles and strategies;
3) respects the basic concept of the Moonlight Offerings as offerings related to light and visibility;
4) is consistent with traditional mechanics, which wanted such offerings available for both killers and survivors;
5) keeps intact the Moonlight Offerings' rarity levels and the conditions under which they stack;
6) works perfectly in any game condition (ie it is not tied to particular powers or perks...).
Crescent Moon Bouquet: Calls upon the Entity to moderately darken the Hatch and, if open, reduce the distance at which it can be heard by 4 meters.
Quarter Moon Bouquet: Calls upon the Entity to moderately brighten the Hatch and, if open, increase the distance at which it can be heard by 4 meters.
Full Moon Bouquet: Calls upon the Entity to tremendously brighten the Hatch and, if open, increase the distance at which it can be heard by 8 meters.
New Moon Bouquet: Calls upon the Entity to tremendously darken the Hatch and, if open, reduce the distance at which it can be heard by 8 meters.

I really can't think of anything that they could be used for, I've been sat for a good 10 minutes thinking about it. Would love to see these and the old map offerings brought back though.
4 -
I've said it once and I'll say it again.... offerings that caused the entity to be more "aggressive" with a certain survivor when being brought into the trial causing them to be hindered for a period of time, different weather for a short period of time, survivor offerings that make ghost survivors active that can distract the killer... etc....
2 -
Maybe they could reduce the range of aura reading. Not by a lot. Like 2m, 4m, 6m for common, uncommon, rare or something. Survivors' could only stack to a total of 6m.
1 -
For aura perks with a time frame it could reduce their time by 1-3 seconds.
0 -
They could implement various degrees of rainstorm? I'd like some more weather than just light rain and snow.
10 -
I agree with you. I would like to see something like rain. It could be useful against players with good headset. Especially against The Spirit.
3 -
Care to share your idea or are you waiting on us to do the work for you?
2 -
Seeing snow and rain would be beautiful in some of the maps.

Spawns 1/2/3/4 Moonlight Hooks / Moonlight Generators
Hooking a survivor on the hook grants X bloodpoints, completing a generator grants X bloodpoints
The infrastructure for special hooks / generators already exists because of events that utilize it. The effect must be symmetric because both sides were able to collect the offerings before they got retired. Event objectives change up gameplay in a very mild and inoffensive manner while still being more interesting than regular +bloodpoint offerings. Event offerings would override the Moonlight objectives to prevent people from griefing events

Theyll wait until the most liked idea is apparent then say, well I had this idea, but so and so beat me to it. But with tweaks.

I dedicate you a famous quote for your distrust. XD
- I can not believe!
- That's why you failed...
@bkn @indieeden7 @Bravo0413 @brokedownpalace @DocOctober @Thaznar @Xaggy @Ember_Hunter @Madjura @Carpemortum I added my idea to the opening message. :)

Nice :D
2 -
It sounds really cool, not sure if I'd like it yet but certainly want to see what it would look like in game, might be a real game changer.
2 -
@indieeden7 Thanks for your support! The first thread I opened, back in September 2018, was exactly about the Moonlight Offerings: for me it would be a dream to see them reborn, and a divine ecstasy to see them reborn with the effect I imagined. **
2 -
I agree with you on this
2 -
How would you add a storm in Lery's or The Game?
0 -
There is already snow in Lery's, and there can be lightning effects for Lery's. Game is the only map I am concerned with.
I HATE AUTOCORRCT

this litterally helps the killer only to either find the hatch faster or make you not find it easily

It's not for sure. My Moonlight Offerings, like the originals and the Mist Offerings, can be useful both to the killer and to the survivors, based on a myriad of circumstances.
1 -
idk honestly
0 -
Like most could block a killer's view, but most could prevent survivors from seeing the Wraith coming towards them.
0 -
yeah but is it really something that would work if applied to the hatch?
0 -
Or Ghostface, or the Pig...
Maybe the killer sees in the lobby someone has a key and burns the New Moon to hide the hatch. Maybe you bring a Rainbow Map and do the same against the killer. Maybe a Wraith uses a Full Moon to camp, cloaked, a very visible hatch. And so on... New strategies!
0 -
ok the strats are ok, but uses maps?
0 -
I don't understand your question. :(
0 -
sorry it was : who uses maps lmao
0 -
Who knows, maybe with my Moonlight Offerings the maps will be back in fashion. XD I'm sorry to see unused and abandoned game resources: the variety of the playstyles should always be increased...
2 -
I mean, it blocks view of hatch spawn for both sides, so it is equal.
1 -
Both of these types of offerings benefit the killer. If the hatch is darker and reduces the distance of noise, the survivor will have a harder time finding it. The killer also will, but they have an advantage in finding the hatch. If it's lighter and louder, the killer's advantage is made even better.
1 -
It depends on the circumstances. Like the old Moonlight Offerings and the Mist Offerings, they can be useful to both parties. For example, if the killer sees a key in the lobby, they burn a New Moon to hide the hatch. If a survivor has a Rainbow Map, the same offering can be burnt against the killer. Moreover, consider that the killer cannot waste time looking for the hatch before it opens, while the survivors, especially if two mates are dead, may urban evade to find it... It's not sure which role will enjoy such offerings: too many factors can change the outcome. Every player will choose and judge the strategy to adopt, according to their experience and build.

@Entità Rainbow maps are hardly ever used. Like extremely rarely. Most people who see a key in the lobby bring Franklin's.
1 -
Rainbow maps are great at finding hatch and totems and bloodpoint farming, but that's it.

I literally could not agree more...
It makes me sad that such a cool and unique offering was removed because the devs couldn't have been bothered to fix it properly. I know it was bugged or something, but they should have fixed it. It's sad that some things that were designed to add uniqueness to the game were removed, resulting in making each match seem just a little more similar and undifferentiated.
The original idea and mechanic of the moonlight offering was SOOOO cool and I really, REALLY wish that, as the game becomes more popular and as dedicated servers are added, that the devs will hopefully reconsider adding these offerings back into the game! (also, I really miss hearing the wolf howl at the start of each map ;c )

My Moonlight Offerings allow a counterplay against the key, which doesn't depend on having unlocked and leveled Bubba: you don't have to be dependent on a particular character to have a fairer or more varied trial, in my opinion.
The maps are widely underestimated and should be reconsidered: they are a free mine of points for the mere fact of exploring the arena holding them in hand, and I can easily "load" information in view of the ending, when suddenly they can become decisive.
Furthermore, I tell you a personal anecdote. Some time ago I was in a Swamp as a solo, with some not so brilliant companions, and Hillbilly was against us: I quickly stayed the last and spent three good minutes for me to find the Hatch and win. The Hillbilly is a fast and powerful killer, but for the mechanics of the chainsaw he tends to draw wide diagonals in the arena, to take full advantage of the sprint without obstacles, moreover its noise easily covers the buzz of hatch: the hatch was exactly in the extreme corner of the map, between rocks and an unused hook, and many times he will have gone close without noticing it, while I explored the Swamp blindly... a Quarter or Full Moon Bouquet would almost certainly have guaranteed him the 4k, because I started from the opposite end of the map...

@Entità Just seems too situational. Why would a killer use this over some of the more attractive offerings? Extra BP, or Moris which can basically guarantee you a game? Survivors maybe, but I can't see this as something I'd want to use over a Bloody Party Streamers, Envelope, or map offering to make sure I don't have to deal with terrible RNG.
1 -
Yes, they are situational, but no more situational than the old Moonlight Offerings or the Mist Offerings, and they add some variety about the hatch mechanic. Maybe someone will enjoy them, and they are so nice... :) The game has players of all ranks, either casual or competitive ones...

@Entità I honestly just don't want extra stuff crowding my bloodweb that I have no interest in using, and won't really benefit me outside of EXTREMELY RARE situations. I already get a bunch of trash bloodpoint offerings that aren't that worth using, mist offerings, etc.

@marching_hyena The original Moonlight Offerings imposed on the developers very intense balancing efforts, because for each new map created they had to study not only the basic brightness, but also the four variations (two increments and two reductions) related to the offerings. A bit like the old Tinkerer, it was really difficult to carry on this "immense workload of additional coding" for every innovation in the game, not to mention, I repeat, that there are also maps without the light of the moon. It was absolutely right the developers' decision to stop this extra work.
However, the Moonlight Offerings in themselves are very cool, in design and conception, and certainly deserve to be reborn from the ashes, like the Phoenicians. Well, the hatch has never been interested in either perks or offerings or add-ons in these three years of play: it would be very useful, to revive the strategies with new variables, to introduce the changes explained in the opening post, which are consistent with the historical tradition of the Moonlight Offerings, but at the same time easy to implement (I think of add-ons to darken the Bear Traps, for example...).
3 -
Look at this if you are doubting the revival of such a beautiful offering:
4 -
@Ember_Hunter Yes, it was great! I never questioned this truth, but for developers it was too demanding to balance five iterations of each map. I understand and respect their difficulties and choices.
What I sincerely hope is that they reintroduce the Moonlight Offerings with a brand new feature! :D

@not_Queen @Patricia @Peanits I believe this thread contains some very interesting ideas for our beloved developers. Please, resurrect the Moonlight Offerings with a new effect! I had the honor of seeing only one burnt before the 2.3.0 patch, and it was very exciting: they are wonderful for their icons, fascinating for the conflict between rarities, and they have an immense potential if related to the visibility/audibility of the hatch, which has never been subject to the players' load-out since the game release! **

As much as I honestly love your idea about reviving the offerings with a new mechanic, I'm still left a little upset by the fact that the developers so easily removed a feature of the game that caused them a little extra work. With all the people playing the game, and I'm sure an expanse of their dev team, I really wish this extra work would be put back into it. Not to mention, isn't there literally only 1 map w/o the light of the moon?
As I said though, I still like your idea a lot, and hope that the devs do bring back moonlight offerings (in some way, shape, or form). Thanks for replying to my comment!

I like this idea, and if it happens I can quote claptrap with the words "I am alive!"

What does it mean? XD

Something to do with the revival thing XD

@Ember_Hunter Thanks for your strong support, and for your explanation! :)

Will be change name of offerings? Because it's moon offerings and if that have to work like hatch offering should be changed name, don't? Also appearance. There are phases of the moon.
0 -
The moon has a kind of magic and sinister influence over the hatch, in my opinion. We are in the Entity's realm: it's not the normal moon.
