Disable BLOODLUST on preschool maps
The looping tiles are nearly all mindgameable now and it's good and fun. However, bloodlust is kinda killing it. I want bloodlust disabled only on these maps so we can see how it actually is.

I feel like Bloodlust will no longer be a thing... eventually. It's a bandaid fix anyway, the mechanic itself is already weird and "rewards failure" but it's a necessity in some maps.
They'll need to rework all maps first. Removing it on only one map is weird design and probably something they won't do, but I get the frustration. Bloodlust does ruin those maps.

Tbh I don't think the can do it as now, due to spaghetti code. If they'll disable bloodlust they'll do it once and for all.

It would take waaaay to long till all maps are reworked like preschool. And yeah I know, it was a band-aid fix and was not originaly planned to be a thing.

Well I'm not an expert but I think no matter how much spaghetti your code is, this would be just a simple if-else line and shouldnt break anything. Shouldn't is the keyword here tho. At least we should try that in a PTB

Hate to break it to you, but Badlam school loops haven't really changed much. The badlam school still has 4 pallets that have no mind game and the killer is forced to break them(Infinity w/e balance landing). There is still basement loop with 2 staircases and a pallet that has no mind game with luck based windows that has no mind game if you know where stand as survivor. There's upstairs house with circular pallet on 2nd floor where you can see the killer, so again no mind-game, then there's old shack pallet god-loop that everyone knows.
Personally, Badlam school map reworks show huge evidence that developers don't really know what loops are badly designed. good survivors will always spot best tiles and exploit the hell out of them with no error. Blood lust never fixed problematic loops and it probably never will, so there's not much reason to remove or keep it. The only thing bloodlust achieves is forcing pallet drops on each tile so that a killer has to break it to reset their bloodlust to 0 so the survivor can't endlessly exploit tiles when traversing between each tiles without taking a hit.

Absolutely not. You should be able to break a chase on the preschool map without bloodlust ever activating. The killer might not have lost you, but the chase requirment for bloodlust drops easily. What are you doing? Are you camping palletes, or something? Lol.
1 -
Jesus legit you only cry about trying to nerf killers. Have you ever hit rank one killer for more than a couple seasons? I only see you cry about how killers are way to strong lol
1 -
Hate to break it to you, but when u can't win the mindgames you might be just bad

I am not gonna ask the developers of the spaghetti mess of coding that's Dead by Daylight to try and disable a feature for a specific map. Its like inviting chaos over for dinner, only for them to spill their food plate over you.
Rather, keep Bloodlust enabled until all other maps have been fixed.. then you can remove that damnable band-aid solution.
2 -
You expect to have every pallet be a non safe pallet? Just to walk around it in a second? Lol. The map is fine.
4 -
I agree. Anyone that knows what they're talking about can tell the majority of the loops on the new Badham maps are made very unsafe with Bloodlust. It kinda just rewards bad killers.
9 -
I mean, he's right. Because of Bloodlust, bad killers can now get easier, undeserved downs. The map itself is awesome, and the loops are too. But Bloodlust is just horrendous on it.
2 -
Im sure they would disable bl in preschool if their coding would let them.
0 -
I just hope never thought about that and consider that now.

no? I expect every pallet to have some risk for survivor, not to be a giant safe zone. That's the whole reason they are reworking maps in first place. The comment makes think that you don't understand difference between unsafe pallet and a fair loop. The loops that the killer doesn't need to break pallet are poor design for survivor because the survivor is guaranteed to lose health state which defeats entire purpose of pallets. Loops that have a mind game allow both to have equal opportunity to make a good play. There's zero reason to remove BloodLust as long god windows and zero mind game loops exist in the map.
2 -
To get off bloodlust 2-3 is 30 or 45 seconds; that is more than a gen worth if the other survivors are actually good and rushing gens like they should be. So your strategy is to lose a gen per hit if you are not playing one of the OP killers?
0 -
You're missing the point. Its the same reason everyone hated old Legion. The point is, even the worst killer on the planet can eventually down the best survivor on the planet, with very little counterplay involved and without leaving a single loop. Those loops are so unsafe that once you have Bloodlust 2 or 3 a monkey could down you, and that is extremely aggrivating for survivors to know they got downed because of a handicap mechanic, not getting outplayed.

Very well explained here, thanks.

Just wait for all maps to be balanced like that. I mean, theres 4 more Haddonfield maps coming, lets wait and see.

Survivors are given 3 lives. They can end the game in 5~ minutes if it is taking a killer to get to bloodlust 2-3 to get hits; straight through ruin at high ranks (if they don't just spawn on it!). The new preschool maps have so many pallets it blows my mind and reminds me of the old autohaven maps before they finally got nerfed. Only the stronger killers can really deal with a full red rank lobby on those maps and they are easily some of the maps I lose the most on beyond haddofun.
1 -
Again, we aren't talking about how hard or easy it is to win. We're talking about how the individual survivors feel robbed because they have no options if the killer chooses to play that way.
3 -
Break line of sight and hide to end bloodlust
If you are not doing that you are not making skilled plays and deserve to get run over by the killer making unskilled plays by getting bloodlust up to 2 or even 3
Healthy survivors can also take a hit for you to end bloodlust. It's a team game, if you don't work together you get slapped

It doesn't matter. If a survivor loops the killer for 2-3+ gens they basically won the game for the team themselves. It is very cheap (bloodpoint wise) to play a survivor, compared to a killer where you need to burn good add-ons regularly if you want to win (unless you are playing S-A tier killers like nurse). A survivor can use the same item for many games if they are being effective. I looped a legion for 5 gens a while back, got facecamped to death, and know it was basically a win because all the other 3 survivors escaped. It is not a 1v1 game.

if they just changed rng and the terrible buildings creating god loops we wouldn't need bloodlust but right now we got L T walls into killer shack and jungle gyms into jungle gyms or cow loop. Knowing how buggy this game can be if they disabled blood lust on bedham it'd probably bug out and be disabled on other maps like bloodlodge or thompson's house. Just from what I've seen when they patch things something else always seems to break.

To be honest, when a Killer is chasing a Survivor for 2-3 Gens on the new Badham Preschool Loops, the Killer is clearly bad.
3 -
you also forgot to say survivors can pip and die while killers can 4k and black pip and if he is tunneling 1 survivor all game, he isn't gonna pip so he'll be out of the ranks that survivor is playing in.
0 -
Or just not playing a strong killer? Maybe you can't loop a spirit, freddy, nurse, billy, for 2-3 gens but if you are playing like wraith without bamboozle you are gonna eat it against good survivors.

No, he is bad. The new Loops are not that bad to play. I am not talking about the School or the Basement House (even though, both got a little bit better because of a new Doorway in the School and blocking of LoS in the Basement House). But the new Loops are better to play, also for mediocre M1-Killers. Sure, overall you will lose more when playing Wraith or Leatherface, but you will not lose solely because of the new Badham Loops.

They could just keep the new Badham maps on the backburner, consider them a "successful test", and bring back the old Badham until all maps are that way, then remove BL at the same time.

I want to invite you all to tone it down, there's no need to be aggressive to one another.

Ooo, JavaScript, I'm an expert with that programming language! :)
They could make a function or an array that detects what maps are reworked, and therefore, disable Bloodlust.

The number of reworks per patch can be expected to be low so it would be sufficient (and more efficient, and less prone to false positives) to just manually flag the reworked maps or to update some list
0 -
Yeah totally break line of sight on those waist high loops in Barham, k
4 -
There are more pallets in a single corridor of the new preschool maps than in entire sections of other maps. To say otherwise is ignorant.
0 -
And? They are unsafe.
It is logical that, if you have many unsafe Loops, you will have more Pallets. And better many Pallets in unsafe Loops as one really safe Loop with only one Pallet.

there is still enough safe loops and even more pallets on this map now. running killers for 5 gens there is no problem if you know how to.

There are simply too many pallets in the springwood maps. Many of them are unsafe, but not so much unsafe like unsafe pallets in other maps, and skilled survs simply skip to the next loop when necessary (the distance of the next loop is usually inferior than the length of the loop itself). If they don't do mistake, the match is gone for the killer. If the killer decides to interrupt a chase, there are so many pallets that is difficult to catch other survivors off position. If survivors aren't really good at looping, then the situation is the reverse, is a nightmare for survivors, and just too easy for killers. I just find these maps poorly designed (and full of blocking glitches where killer can't walk and survivors can). When I play in springwood, I can tell in the first 30 secs of chase the result of the game (for me and for games I see in streaming).
Bloodlust is fine right now in every map ... when it kicks in, it's already a won chase for survivors, for entertaining the killer so much time (if others don't do gens in the meanwhile it's a team fault). It limits somewhat the snowballing effect a single survivor could have for the entire team, which is good to make a game always challengeable.

I would be all for it, personally, but my concern would be how confusing that would be to new players. If you weren't around for this update or you're not super into the technical side of things (a casual, if you will, the kind of person who probably regularly gets bloodlust), then it would feel really arbitrary as to which maps have it and which don't.
Let's assume you picked up the game today. You have no idea that the map was reworked. As far as you know, bloodlust just isn't working. You'd have no clue why.
I dream of a world without bloodlust too, but I do think it makes way more sense to do it all at once or not at all.

But this idea would become more and more awful because if you imagine 30 maps and 20 of them got successfully reworked and you as a survivor feel more and more punished from the game for doing everything right while the killer always get rewarded for playing wrong.
I mean for now you can chill in your chairs and thats cool but with more and more balanced maps Bloodlust will become a problem and waiting until every map is fine is pretty rude and for sure not player-numbers-killing.
Investigating in an option to disable bloodlust on reworked maps in the future would be a very smart play.

"just hide from the nurse" levels of smartness

You got a valid point not gonna lie.. Hmm, need to figure out something for that

@Peanits you have tool tips. "This map has been reworked and bloodlust has been removed to test to see if it is even needed." You also have the PTB's in which I would highly like to see test changes so people saying it isn't or is needed would get to physically see the state with/without that change.

Nobody likes one haddonfield why would we want 4 to hate?
