Question about DC "husks"
After dedicated servers are brought in, were suppose to get a husk to down and hook if someone DCs. The question is... Will we KNOW that person DCed?
I know alot of ppl slug the 3rd to deny the last survivor hatch. With a husk in the game, you could just leave the husk alone to have plenty of time finding the 4th.

Great point. Maybe the husks should have a bleed out timer as soon the player DCs. And have the aura revealed to the killer so they can quickly hook them or let them "bleed out."

No more swf DCing to give the hatch to someone of the group!!! Hooray!!!

Yeah husks could conceivably cause hostage situations

I think this would work. If someone DCes, their husk drops to dying state.

When there are two survivors alive and both just hide and wait for the other person to die, this is kind of hostage-taking. The killer has no indication to find them if they refuse to work on a gen.
When a killer actively looks for a survivor, how is that taking the game hostage from the killer?
The husk aura should be revealed to the killer of course, so he can decide what to do with it. The killer having to look for the husk would be a pointless mechanic.

The hostage would be the other way around. The last survivor would have no way of looking for hatch, since theres technically a teammate. If the husk is still up, theres no bleedout to wait through, giving the killer infinite time to look for the last person.

So who are you saying is taking the game hostage? The last survivor who hides somewhere on the map without trying to do a gen? Or the killer who is searching for the survivor?

Its not reasonable to expect a lone survivor to be able to DO a gen, which is why hatch exists to begin with. That last survivor, due to a forever standing husk, is 100% screwed.

Without doubt a hard situation if the survivor doesn't have a key. But a hard situation for the survivor doesn't mean that the killer is taking the game hostage.
Take a look at my former example: Let's assume a team of survivors had a very bad start. Only 2 survivors are still alive and still 4 gens left to be done. Also a hard situation for the survs, it's not reasonable to expect them to do 4 gens just between the two of them. So they hide. Is the killer who is looking for them taking the game hostage?

I think its a little different due to the killer having the option of disposing of the husk and not doing so. While it sucks to look through the map for immersed survivors, its at least possible. Doing the remaining gens without teammates is impossible. Thats why I was suggesting the husk go to dying state to bleedout. At least then the survivor has a chance.

I see that you realize that the killer would not be taking the game hostage. It would just be a lost situation for the survivor.
Why is a survivor not allowed to lose? Why does a survivor always need to have another chance? Why not just blame the guy who ragequittet for the loss and move on to the next game?

The husks sound like a terrible idea. Really you want to spend God knows how long scouring the map looking for the last survivor whose only objective at that point is to hide. They can't escape and they're obviously not going to do a gen. The whole thing sounds tedious for both sides.
A better solution would be to make the hatch only spawn once there is one person left (or after the gates are powered if there is more than 1 survivor remaining, so the achievement isn't affected).
That way you can hook the third person and you have an equal chance of finding the hatch as the last survivor does.
Just give the killer the emblem points as if they had 3 hooked anyone who DCs, ez pz. No need for whole new mechanics.

Not allowing the hatch to spawn sooner would make it so you cant use a key.

If stalemates are a problem, just make the husk disappear after some amount of time.

Thats why i suggested the husk just remain in the dying state, so it could eventually just bleed out.

Yes, this would be another added benefit. No more games ended early.
