Iridescent Hatchet Rework idea

In the PTB the Huntress is bugged in her favor. The way she is bugged however is really cool, thus new Iridescent Hatchet idea:

  • Your Hatchets will pierce Survivors

This means that if multiple Survivors are behind each other then the Hatchet will go straight through them and hit both Survivors. This works exactly like it does in the PTB when the bug happens except without the instadown on a headshot.

Cool idea and way more balanced than current iri heads.

I mean it's been coming into play in the PTB even if you ignore the headshot glitch.

Worst case scenario we give it a secondary effect.

I prefer it in the state it's in, you only get 1 hatchet, and if you use the belt you're using an ultra rare + very rare, besides, the suggestion you offered would be very difficult to hit and very situational.

The state it's in is OP AF.

It's a minimum of 4 extra healthstates and possibly more if they heal.

The rarity of the addons doesn't justify something like that.

Killers like billy, myers have a one shot, what's the problem with this addon, I think it's strong but risk>reward.

Power one shots are accounted for regarding the rest of the utility they have.

A killer with an instant down won't have as much power outside of the instant down compared to a Killer that doesn't have an instant down, for example baring the instant down the Spirit and Hag both have powers that are massively more useful that Billy's.

Huntress is the same deal, she doesn't have an instant down and her hatches can work like they do without being OP as a result.

However the combo of Iridescent head + Belt utterly breaks that careful balance by giving an instant down to a Killer who's power is balanced around not being one. Even without infantry belt you don't need more than 1 hatchet per chase if it's an instant down for a good Huntress.

With the right secondary effect, I'd be on-board. I don't know what that would be, though.

Maybe if an iri head slowed a survivor to the point where the next his is more or less guaranteed. But i like it the way it is, people are getting better and better at dodging and if you need to stop at a locker after one throw the chase is effectively lost.

Nah..this addon would never have use except around rank 18 or if your lucky end game

I personally think the add-on should limit hatchets to 1 and trump all other add-ons. Add-ons don't always have to mix with every other add-on (take scratched mirror or waterlogged shoe for example), and I think it would be balanced if you only had one shot to insta-down someone. Instead of infantry belt, you could use deerskin gloves and iron maiden.

What about adding the penetration effect to the insta-down, but, nerf the insta-down so it only applies to hits, say, 24m away or farther (the number may be tweaked)?

The idea being the hatchet needs some momentum to be deadly, gaining the Entity's power while it's in flight, otherwise it's just a normal hatchet. But this limits one of the IMHO more annoying trends in IH users, that of just getting close enough where a miss is unlikely, by requiring some minimal skill and adding some outplay potential on survivors, knowing they can't get too far away. At the same time, it allows for good sniping huntresses with long-distance shots to make amazing hits. And, now that the lullaby isn't directional, hearing it when you know IH is in play will put you on edge but won't be an immediate signal of "the huntress is aiming her one-shot my way, must run"

This could be an add-on of it's own that's lower quality.

Iri hatchets should restrict you from getting any more hatchet's than 1. That's how it was balanced and that's how it should be.
