Diagetic Voice Chat
The concept is simple: make voice chat a base kit feature even in solo play. The catch is that whatever you say becomes a sound in the envoronment itself, so if the killer is close enough they can hear and follow the sound. Build this into SWF too, if possible (real talk, it's not). This both gives solo players much needed communication while also giving killers a new tracking method. It will force survivors to pick how and when to communicate strategically. In short, it would be a new type of challenge.

When are people gonna stop with this no it's a terrible idea i dont want to hear some 13 year old who's mad the fortnite servers are down crying in my headphones.

aahhhh...
So once SWF realize there is a penalty for using voice in game.... They go back to discord.... or use a different computer / device to use VOIP.

You wanna add anything constructive to the discussiom or do you just want to keep somehow turning this into a way to complain about the youth?

I can't think of a single game released in the last decade with voice chat but without the option to mute either individual players or disable all voice chat from a settings menu, so???
3 -
Pretty bold of you to assume most of them don't already.

You could just use the kid as a meat shield when the killer comes. That's what I'd do.

@SureSpear yeah... so why would they then use in-game voice chat where the killer could hear them....
1 -
They wouldn't. I don't understand why you need to ask the question. If you play on console, you're already using the console's party chat feature. This suggestion won't fix swf. There is no fixing swf.

@SureSpear Then why would they waste time putting in that feature?.. If no one is gonna use it? How does that help out the solo player... If they decide to just talk for no reason on their mic to alert the killer?
Just to pipe off in the game... Like blare some loud ass music in game on the killer to troll them?
I don't get it.... What killer would want to use that when you got a bunch of kids who will troll the crap out of you in game.
It makes no sense, cause you might think people will use it in a reasonable / proper way.
Look at the audio issues that keep coming up in the game... the bugs that pop up after every update... You think that will be put in and work correctly?

If you use it to troll, you get downed and hooked. The sound would ger louder as the killer gets closer to you. And don't just assume no one would use it. Swf is nothing if not proof that communication is a massive boon to survivors.

Add it to the game & don't make it optional. 😁
Allow people to mute players, but not turn off their own mic. That way, even if they use Discord, they are still speaking in game.
All or nothing! Speak in game or don't speak at all!
A Killer can dream. A Killer can dream..

People can mute mics, you know.
But from what I hear this is how Friday the 13th voice chat works. Seems to work finw there.

There's only one side to this discussion: the people who understand the harm in-game voice chat would do. Anyone else is by rote not worth acknowledging.
Spam and such are the things I enjoy being able to avoid in this game. Children whining or idiots yelling "but I hit my Dead Hard" are preferably avoided too by any sensible person. There's literally no way to make in-game voice chat non-toxic: look at Deceit.

There are many reasons that in game voice chat is unappealing to me and a few of them are listed here. But my biggest trigger for the red flag on this suggestion is a simple one, and you only have to look at the hundreds upon hundreds of after-game messages to spot it.
Abuse.
Amongst other reasons, this is a huge part of why I don't play a lot of multiplayer games. I don't want to hear even a quarter percent of what has been sent to me in after game messages, I don't want to hear it being done to anybody else either. Yes i could mute them, but only after the damage is done and that would render the whole thing useless.
Let me be clear, your idea is actually a good one that would certainly add something to the game. I like the idea. But people will be people, and it's obvious by now that internet anonymity seems to have given a large percentage of the gaming world into nasty little toddlers. So we don't get nice things.

Ah, the best argument: Only my side is worth talking about.
Around here, they teach you that this is not a valid way to discuss..anything..by the end of grade school.

This is a terrible idea and the worst possible type of voice comms for DBD.
1 -
No the only way to implement voice com is a global voice com that the killer can't hear, adding voice coms would be to close the gap between solo and swf player, giving it a downside when SWF can entirely bypass say downside would make putting voice coms in game pointless

If only that worked on Zubats. Pokemon might actually be playable without using repels.

Not only derail this or anything- but I read that as Diabetic.. xx

I think I did used to carry at least 50 if not the max lol. Screw zubat.

Most unrealistic thing about this is the assumption that billy can talk

When the side proposing 'change' has been around for less time than you, and seems unaware that what they propose has already been attempted and crashed/burned as hard as people like me are aware of: yeah. Uninformed people aren't particularly worth listening to.
While it would be wonderful to have inbuilt voice comms, and if done well would serve as an excellent bridge between solo and swf while also being good to killers, it would only thicken the toxic sludge that binds large portions of this community together with every version proposed, and there's no proposal for its implementation that adequately addresses the concerns the original beta and other games raise about it.
