The movies were amazing, because they were great remasters/remakes of the classics and books. Could parts have been better? Yes, as with anything.
It wasnt "scary" because I already read and saw the story. It doesnt have to be a new scare to be good.

Freddy could be in the real world changing shape and killing?
Freddy wasnt LITERALLY a joke filled b movie villain?
Freddy was an ancient otherworldly being that had supernatural and metaphysical powers that humans couldnt even contemplate correctly?
The only things in common are "its fake, if I dont believe or fear it, it wont hurt me."
And even then, freddy needed JASON to get him back to power.
But well go back to your comment about IT copying ST. If ST manages to fit here, so does pennywise.
People said "no ST chapter please" and were bashed for it.

Killers/horror icons usually have stupid ass weaknesses.
Bravery wasnt his weakness, that's just a simplified way to look at it.
However, is the entity not LITERALLY feeding on fear and hope? Bravery is its weakness too, by your definition and application.

Maybe the whole twist with Pennywise is that whilst fear is what makes him stronger, to deplete his 'fear power' you have to display certain types of bravery. But by doing so, you put yourself at more risk of being attacked but with less force.
Running from Pennywise would be seen as fear. Hiding from Pennywise would be seen as fear. Failing skill checks and running away would be seen as fear.
Unhooking survivors would be seen as bravery. Staying on a generator after a missed skill check would be seen as bravery. Performing tasks whilst in Pennywise's terror radius would seen as bravery.
The higher survivors' fear levels are, the stronger Pennywise's power is.
Pennywise could use certain items to increase survivors' fear levels. He could leave blood filled red balloons around the map which explode at close proximity .
As Pennywise's power gets higher, the more supernatural traps and visions appear around the map. This could make survivors overall efficiency decrease and have them cry out for help. It could also effect generators, vault windows and lockers.

bhvr for sure want increase player base by adding famous killers , pennywise might not be scary but it would add a lot fanbase . i didnt find it scary but kinda like the look of the pennywise reboot .
but what i mean is that for example childs play' chucky isnt scary but it would be funny to have him as a killer plus he is last left of the most iconic slasher killers expect jason

yes its not about scary anymore . this game is not scary at all , the bright atmosphere , the pizza boy dwight . the dancer outfit feng , and even survivors arent scared of killers , atleast not the experienced ones :) ,, dbd left horror concept long time ago

If you count Ash this will be the 4th

Those 3 in 2017/early 2018 had 5 characters 2 full chapters and LF
in 2019 we are at 5 already Ash, Ghost, Steve, Nancy and Demogorgon.

Ash is considered the last DLC of Year 3. DBD measures years using the original Spring release date of the game.
That said it would not surprise me if all chapters in year 4 are licensed.
Whatever the last one is it must be BIG considering it’s a full chapter with a map.
My guess is Conjuring, Hellraiser, Child’s Play, Alien or Resident Evil.

The vast majority of DBD fans love guest chapters. Both the GF and ST trailers made it onto the top 10 trending on YouTube. ST even reached #1 and is the most viewed video on the DBD YouTube channel.
Only a small minority of fans dislike them. These people seem to forget that year 3 was all original chapters besides the mini Ash dlc at the end.

I would rather have licensed characters...as long as I am familiar with the related franchise. After Stranger Things was annouced for DBD, I sat through all three seasons as I had never watched it.

I would like to see some form of supernatural killer. Something like an angry Quaker judge from the Salem witch trials.
A ghostly wraith that switches between what looks to be a man dressed as a Quaker judge walking around until he gets to chase mode. Then he is a scary looking ghostly version of himself and his lantern turns to a red glowing blade. Make him able to talk/make noise and he screams at the survivor about burning them for their witchcraft.
He could continue with talking for a few seconds after losing a survivor, so as you hide you can still hear him promising agony upon you.
That would be scarier than Pennywise. I'm not against him in the game, but can we have some fun with truly scary killers?
Edit. He gets the first hook mori. One appears as he hits "kill" and it is a special hook. He throws you on it and curses your existence as he lights you on fire. Then your burnt husk falls to the ground.

I'm talking about their source material and killers in general. Not just this game.
First scream movie. Where Ghostface STARTED. They literally stab themselves to make it look like they were also attacked. "Stop man I'm starting to feel...woooooozy". Like 2 or 3 stabs each into the stomach ffs.
Legion has that workaround use because they changed their power. If you use the power as intended, it's a fault.
Talk about recovering from weaknesses, just because the shell of pennywise is gone, doesnt mean the deadlights (what pennywise WAS/was controlled by) are gone. It spanned multiple books/movies. Which means pennywise could easily come back (although it would need as much bs retcon as freddy's example IMO).
