Why are survivors toxic as hell?
I have been playing the game for 2 days and i only played killer but god damn almost every game survivors are being super toxic and saying things like "camper, tunneler, you are so bad". Like what's the point of this ? I am at rank 11 with hag at the moment and I'm not camping at all and i don't even know what is tunneling. The only thing i do in my games is leave marks on gens and chase survivors. Every game, my only goal is to get every survivor to hook at least for once for the blood points and prevent the generator progress. Isn't that what should i do as a killer? Then why are survivors being so toxic? Like I just want to have fun and play a fair game but people are being so toxic.

Indeed. Now I don't want to say all survivors are toxic or there are no toxic killers, but in my time of playing the game (and I play both survivor and killer equally), I've gotten way more hatemail from survivors than killers.
10 -
Because Survivors are stressed out from playing the game and getting stomped all the time.
It's actually the exact same thing with killer.
9 -
Just ignore them and turn the chat off if it's ruining your enjoyment that is probably the easiest solution

Btw getting green ranks in your first 2 days is impressive congratulations!
4 -
That doesn't justify bullying
8 -
I'm not justifying it. I'm just answering the question.
8 -
Try playing survivor for a while. Plenty of toxic killers to go around.
5 -
because survivor mains are entitled cry babies.
that's why the swf game mode exists, because they biitched untill they got their own way.
but don't worry the devs don't balance the game around these entitled, cry baby survivor players.............oh wait
9 -
Calling someone a camper isn't bullying. Anyone who thinks it is has not experienced legitimate bullying.
1 -
Probably a case of mob mentality. Because there are 4 survivors per match, it's much easier for them to band together against a single killer. But don't take it as insults, take it as a compliment you've made them a seething mess behind their screen :)
6 -
Im not referring to calling someone a camper
0 -
Okay well that's what this topic is about.

Nice bait.
8 -
Im just referring to the topic of survivors being more toxic than killers. Im not the OP

Some weird delusions you are having, I have a prescription of Risperdal® for you to help.

When you make four people the enemy of one, they will usually end up ganging up on that one. It is just human nature. I am not justifying what they did. This usually happens when players play as only a survivor or only a killer, as this causes them to resent the other side. That is why I believe that people will get the best experience the game by alternating between killer and survivor every once and a while.
BTW, tunneling is when the killer only chases one survivor down and targets only him for the game. It is not really a valid insult, as the whole point of the killer is to target survivors.
Take pride in the rage you call toxic survivors, but do not join in in their salty rage. It is what they want.

It's usually SWF with players in the 1-9 ranks. Often, their in-game tactic is to outright irritate the killer.
1 -
Quite ironic considering most of the posts on this site begs for survivor nerfs.
3 -
That doesn't mean you need to be toxic
1 -
I have an entire folder of hatemail I've gotten from anyone in DBD. And I play on PS4 so you have to go out of your way to message someone. I think one out of the dozens of messages was from a killer.
2 -
Didn't know i could mute the chat. I'll do that then, thanks.
Thank you, im just trying to hook every survivor and prevent the generator progress. Guess it works :)

Because toxic survivors know full well the advantages they can exploit and they can sniff out real quick the killers they know they can beat. It’s pure smallness and cowardice.
Killers can be toxic too but survivor toxicity is 4x more prevalent and nasty. It’s also been my experience that killers are far more likely to be kind and fair in an uneven match. The worst a killer can do is kill you quickly before you gain anything substantial - survivors go out of their way to make killers miserable and rub it in their faces as long as they can in the most obnoxious ways.
5 -
while not always true, here are examples where you are very correct:
Case in point....and...
Another example of attacking the player rather than the addressing the issue.
Both sides can be ######### but when survivors are 4:1, we have a better chance of seeing ######### survivors than we do killers.
It's a ratio.

I played against non toxic survivors as well but imo most of them are toxic. By the way for some reason, most of my games were against higher ranks survivors. Like i am at rank 11 atm but most of the time i play against rank 4,5 survivors. is this normal ?

Every killer I seem to play against have such a big ego when they throw on stuff like a Ebony Mori or Prayer Beads.
2 -
Survivors are the true villains in this game
4 -
How does that equate to a big ego?
1 -
It doesn't. That's not what they said.
0 -
@Kerbert Because they'll usually think they're better than you because they got a easy 4K with the use of stuff that they know the average survivor dislikes to play against. Grinds My Gears.
2 -
When you see yourself as a perpetual victim, indeed they are.
4 -
Oh how the tables have turned.
2 -
Glad to see you feel so strongly about it!
0 -
They're saying that when killers with big egod use very strong add ons or offerings and do well with them, they act as if they are good at the game. They are not saying simply using those things = big ego.
So no, the tables haven't turned.
0 -
Laughs, it's no me telling that people should kill themselves because of a stupid game. Yes, I get things like that all day when I play Spirit :) sounds like a victim to you? Or maybe you think that things like that are normal
1 -
Please reread the original comments, and read carefully this time.
The tables have, in fact, been turned.
3 -
Nah. You're reading what you want to.

Not sure. Its the craziest community ive ever seen. Maybe they hate themselves and project that out, maybe the game brings the worst out in people. Not sure.
Survivors have the easy role but have the audacity to cry about trivial bs like HOW the Killer Killed them. Survivors have the tiniest egos I've seen in my whole life, they can not except loss or defeat in any form and usually , almost 99% of the time lash out on the killer.
And inb4 someone says the stupid, and very generic "dur there are toxic killers 2" . Yes you may meet a toxic killer, but you'll meet 100x more toxic survivors then killers. Killers are generally more humble and respectful. Ive got hundreds of after game ps4 messages from salty players , and i can confidently say out of the hundreds, maybe ten at most are from a toxic killer, the rest being survivors.
The sad thing is like I said, thats just how survivors are. But if you think you like this game enough. Just try to ignore them. Turn chat off, if youre on ps4 turn random messaging off and just have fun.
Toxic survivors behavior, constant harassment, incessant whining and nonstop craptalk have ruined the game for a lot of killers like myself and a few others ive seen here talk about it. Dont let it get to you like that. Good luck
2 -
Because they're mad about something. That's it.
Does it justify being a twat? Not at all, they're idiots that need to control themselves or just get themselves banned as fast as possible. But that's it for the vast majority of cases, it's not some deep evil conspiracy.
1 -
Because it's a PvP setting and as with most there is bound to be some people that get annoyed.
0 -
You're more toxic than any Survivor I've seen.
Except for me, of course. Nobody is more toxic than ME!
3 -
IMO I consider survivors are more toxic. Killers can be toxic but I believe killers being toxic comes from survivors behavior, but survivors are more toxic because it's easier to play survivor and less stressful. Killera are either just trying play or relax. Survivors think having fun is pissing and or bullying killers. Until they hear Nurse screaming, than they wanna gen rush and if they fail either DC or call killers trash. Most nurse mains will agree, that one lesson she gives her players is "If you hate that **** as a killer, don't do it as a survivor"

It's fragile ego, not tiny ego. Tiny ego would almost be a compliment.

Just had an absolute treat of a match. I was Trapper against four low-lifes...in the cornfields. Really, really cocky. Kept double flashlighting me, long blindness over and over, sabotaging all close hooks and allowing me to down them in the corner of the map, teabagging etc...it was all roses for them...all gens done...until the clicky leader decided to run up the combine harvester not knowing I had set a trap on the vault. Hooked him...and here comes the goody patrol. But it all goes horribly wrong for them. Multiple downs, grabs during hook rescue, Nurse's Call in full effect. 3K with the remaining spanner running the out the gate. Bet he's still running.

Your objective as a killer is TO KILL the survivors, at high ranks (purple and red) tunneling (aiming for one specific survivor until he's off the game) is a well known strategy to get the 4k. Survivors will always get mad for what you do, just enjoy the game, you're a killer, not a friend
0 -
If you can't take being a killer, you should not be one. Don't expect survivors to be all friendly when you took the role of the enemy trying to kill them. It only takes a few toxic killers to make survivors want to hate all killers - true for the reverse. Made even worse cause there are four of them and one of you, meaning they are four times as likely to say something when tilted. Big reason people need to play both sides to a serious degree to get rid of this over inflated bias they have.
Killer is a thankless job. Just the way they made it to bring out the worse in people - so go ask the Entity for a hug.
1 -
Please learn proper english before trying to communicate with others, it'll make the experience a LOT easier for us.
They said add-ons like moris give killers a big ego. You tried to defend them blindly, and got smacked in the face with the truth. Just accept it. 😀

Nah, tho

I don't have anything to contribute to this discussion opinion wise, but to correct something here, the devs have stated before that SWF were meant to come into the game at launch, they were just crunched for time and prioritized the Kill Your Friends option. The lobby joining issue that arose from this being absent didn't spur the devs into developing it, it was already a feature being worked on.

There is toxicity on both sides. Killer and survivors a like. I don't think it's one more than the other since both sides breed the toxicity. There are just toxic people that play the game. We all have to deal with them when we play. You are not alone in this. It's all in how you decide to deal with it. Be above the toxic sludge or join it. Up to you on how you decide to play.
3 -
As others have said, toxicity is on both sides but of course there are going to be more toxic survivors. Statistically speaking of course, there are 4 survivors and 1 killer. Can you imagine how sad it would be if the statistics were that there were more toxic killers than survivors?? That would be ridiculous. I'm not defending toxicity in anyway as I hate this side of the community but it's just logic.
The only thing I can think of that I might have done 'toxically' would be accidentally mini teabagging in the middle of a chases when I first started the game. And recently, using Head On at the start of a match when Freddie was heading towards a hiding team mates but even then that's not really toxic, I'm just using a perk. Also the term 'toxic' really seems to be interpreted differently, aka genrushing and killing survivors is apparently toxic. It's just stupid.
I've seen killer mains on this forum say they target and tunnel specific survivors simply for using a certain perk or cosmetic (there's toxic perks now... 🙄) then have the audacity to complain about toxic survivors, it's a 2 way street guys.
And I find it sad that people should have to play both sides to understand it. Do these people not know what empathy and understanding is? 😥 Anyway rant over, so in conclusion there's a bunch of A-holes who play this game and unfortunately we gotta deal with it. Not taking it so seriously helps, just make sure you're having fun. I know it's helped me.
