Hatch instantly opening on d/c
I think this is such an exploit, Two survivors camping a hatch after i sacrificed another survivor, down one of the campers she d/cs the other jumps the hatch.
I had two gens and two alive survivors why is hatch spawning? Further more why is a d/c instantly opening the hatch. If the Survivor on the ground was sacrificed at least i can have the ten seconds before the animation finishes for the hatch to open.
There really is no excuse for this!

I would love to agree, however DCs cannot be dealt with at this time. One Dedicated servers are released players can be tracked much more accurately and effectively. Once Dedicated servers release the devs might be able to look into this, but for now we'll just have to wait.

A delay to the hatch opening would be nice. Same length as the sacrifice animation time.
2 -
This really has nothing to do with the Server issues it has to do with how the hatch spawns and opens. I dont really care if survivors d/c end game i'm more concerned about game mechanics being exploitable due to poor design.

Wait for dedicated servers. If we are lucky enough, servers will be less awful on fall, yet still not good enough, then at the start of spring we will eventually get them.

I'd like to agree with you but...your icon is Leatherface...
6 -
Disconnecting for the hatch is a counter to killers who slug for the 4K.
7 -
There's nothing to agree or disagree with. The killer doesn't have any counterplay to you using a button in your menu and guaranteed giving your friend the hatch. There's literally nothing the killer can do, and it's unfair. It's not an argument.
0 -
@michaelrandom27 A counterPLAY is something that is a perk (Unbreakable or No Mither in this case) or a game mechanic that you use when PLAYING. This does not include the "leave match" button because when you use it you do not play any longer.
And what is bad with killers who slug for the 4k? They are killers. They are meant to kill. So don't complain.
1 -
disconnecting to open the hatch is cheating plain and simple, it's equivalent to lagswitching as a killer
0 -
I didn't say it was a counterPLAY. I said it was a counter. A counter doesn't have to be a perk or a game mechanic. It's just a way of doing something that is effective against what your opponent is doing.
0 -
If it was a four man slug id agree with you but Camping a hatch that shouldnt even have spawned yet and exploiting a game mechanic is cheating. They were literally both ontop of hatch waiting for me to choose who i'd drop. Even if I didn't drop one of them they are effectively holding the game hostage. Hatch standoffs have constantly been an issue in this game. As LF i could have dropped both but Id get the same result...

I'd like to think your opinion is unbiased and you see things in the broader scope of the game but...

Wasn't even directed at you and I was making a joke obviously.
0 -
I guess you are unfamiliar with the concept of humor.
0 -
Probably about as unfamiliar as you are with punctuation that makes humor apparent.

*Face palm*
Why don't you just go over there and stalk someone.

@michaelrandom27 If you call it counter or counterplay it does not matter. To DC is never a counter to anything. And if you think you need to DC to give the last the hatch, because you cannot stand that the killer wants all people.... Maybe you should think of not getting found then.
0 -
all the people agreeing pull a Slug for the 4K every game. Stop that and maybe people wouldnt. No right to talk about whats fair and whats not when you do that.
1 -
I'm surprised the devs haven't done anything about this. The Hatch should stay closed for at least 30 seconds after a Survivor DCs. Besides, DCing is never an intended strategy while slugging is. Hopefully the people who do this get punished in some way.
0 -
Disconnecting for the hatch is an effective way to beat killers who slug for the 4K. You need to get a new dictionary if you don't think that's a good counter. That's exactly what needs to be done in that situation. Killers who want a 4K so badly that they are willing to walk around blindly for four minutes while the game is being held hostage by an exploit are showing poor sportsmanship and don't deserve the kill. If you're complaining that only one of the survivors escaped, then get good and find the hatch before I do.
1 -
The devs don't seem to agree with you, because they've said that with dedicated servers they plan to introduce a husk mechanic: a survivor who disconnects will leave behind a husk, which can either be hooked or left to bleed out (if I'm remembering correctly). So, you'll have to find a new "good counter," because disconnecting won't work to give another survivor the hatch anymore.
Also, finding the hatch has nothing to do with 'getting good.' It's RNG; it's luck who finds it first.
1 -
@michaelrandom27 Then go on and continue to DC when dedicated servers come and have fun with your ban. Because it will be tracked.
"Slugging is holding the game hostage." So then tell me what 99ing the Gate is? And "holding the game hostage" is when you cannot do anything else then DC because somebody refuses to let the game end (f.e. not leaving through the exit pre EGC) and can do this infinitely. Since a slugged person dies after 4min this is not such a thing.
"Bad sportsmanship"... really? May I kindly ask if we play different games? Or does every killer you face, give the last one the hatch? (This stops roughly above rank 13.) Again: A Killer is there to KILL, and not to show mercy. Survivors have to EARN themselves to get the hatch when I am Killer, because I sacrifice a possible Iridescent Devout.
And why do you tell me to get better? If I know where the last survivor is, why should I not slug? And honestly: if the downed person actually bleeds out when I slug, it is due to not finding him again (and no.... I do NOT take Deerstalker for this and waste a perk slot) and then I always say sorry in chat. Often enough I find the other person in under 2mins. And what is wrong to use one survivor as bait? Nothing. And a slugged Survivor is bait. Killers use their brain too. If you want it or not.
Oh... almost forgot this. Maybe you tell me what your steam name is, so I can kill you last. You do not need to DC and I get my 4k :)
@TragicSolitude Thank you.

Why dont we get rid of the hatch instead. I mean survivors genrush you anyway. I just think it is unfair because it just ruins the killers game. Make the survivor do the remaining gens dont give them a reward for doing nothing except hiding.*if you have a problem about my opinion then get over it, its my opinion. Thank you

Because we'd like to avoid Survivors going maximum immersion and pointlessly extending the game for another 50 years if their teammates get slaughtered.
0 -
Kind of the point. Let the survivor get what he/she deserves. If the survivor does not do anything the entire game and gets the hatch i think it is very unfair to the killer.
0 -
The point is that such a thing would be painfully unfun for Killers because the game wouldn't end until that last Survivor is found.
0 -
But it is kind of rewarding the survivor for doing basically nothing. So i think getting rid of the hatch would be better for the game and making the remaining survivor do the work he/she did not do. Making the survivor a better player.
0 -
I would rather let the Survivor have their Hatch escape than potentially force the Killer into a position where they either have to spend who knows how long looking for Batman or leave and lose everything.
0 -
Id rather kill the last survivor then letting them get rewarded for something that they didnt even do. There is no point of the hatch anyways. I think that making the survivor do the remaning gens would be better for the game instead of them not saving, doing gens, ect. and giving them the hatch.
0 -
But what happens when they won't do the remaining gens and choose to go full stealth? Then the Killer is the one who is punished by being a prisoner in the trial until they find the needle in the haystack.
0 -
I think making the game longer and making them the remaining gens would make them better players.
0 -
Yeah but it will make it alot better for the community and it will teach them to be better players.
0 -
You seem to be ignorant to how miserable it would be for the Killer to be forced to stay in the trial without being penalized for leaving because the last Survivor refuses to be found and chooses to waste an absurd amount of time.
0 -
Not really i just want to make it were survivors who dont do anything dont get rewarded and instead making them do more work.
0 -
They still get rewarded if the Killer DCs because a Killer DC makes all Survivors still in-game count as having escaped and get all the points involved. So not only is the Survivor still getting their points, but now the Killer gets NOTHING.

But it will reduce hatch camping. The hatch will just make us killer mains facecamp more so if we got rid of the hatch then killers wont have to camp. Even though killers camp anyways it will reduce it. Killers only dc when he gets no kills. And it will make it were there is more pressure on the survivor.

I would not like to search for a Blendette the rest of my life.....
Hatch is fine. And when you notice, that one guy is just stealthy, then I am more and more happy to just search for him at the hatch and kill him.
0 -
It is not true that killers only DC when they get no kills. I have been stuck on the map back before the EGC when the hatch didn't spawn unless two gens were done. The last survivor refused to touch a gen. They Urban Evaded around the map, holding me hostage. It was miserable. I would rather they get the hatch and leave than force me to search every nook and cranny for god only knows how long while they avoid my terror radius.
Back before the EGC, the survivor could force the killer to DC by hiding around the map. This isn't conjecture; this did happen. I don't want to waste ungodly amounts of time over one survivor, one kill. My time is more valuable than a 4k. And I definitely don't want to have to choose between sacrificing future time or my already earned BP.
The hatch is a necessary mechanic. Taking it away doesn't put more pressure on survivors; it just gives them a way to hold the killer hostage indefinitely.

In my opinion they should just add a concede button aftering being slugged for a minute that doesn't even count as DCing. I want to play the game not crawl around for 4 minutes while urbanevaddete waits for the hatch.
0 -
That's not a bad idea. There were times over the double bp weekend I would've used that so I could move on quicker. I didn't care about escaping; I just cared that those were four minutes on the ground of not earning BP.
Hear that, devs? Add that option in with the husk mechanic. It'd be much appreciated.

@SkeletalElite Yeah, I hate that too. When I slug for the 4k, I go check the whole map quickly for hatch (not on too big maps though as low mobility Killer). Most times the slugged person got up again when I was coming back, so I got both of them. If the other person refuses to get the other up and camps hatch or just hides, I take my luck and hook the slugged person. I do this probably after 2-3min because I'm bored too. I made it a habit to search the closest lockers around hatch and look in every corner, since I found a Blendette waiting for hatch one time.
If the survivor actually happens to bleed out, it is due to not finding him again. I'm sorry then, but honestly don't crawl away when you want to die.
I only hardcore slug for 4k when I want the Adept Achievements. But that is understandable I hope.....

Why don't we just address it with enforcing rules and improving connections? The hatch is not the only RNG factor at play. Gates can open in direct view of eachother and close enough that you can camp both. The hatch is the wildcard factor that both sides can take advantage of. Honestly, boohoo a killer potentially gets a 3k game if they didn't find the hatch before the survivor. It's not the end of the world.

DC is a counter to Mori
0 -
@TwatLlama If you think so. It gives me more points and you get none and will get banned once the servers come.
I have no problem with that.
0 -
Saying it will reduce hatch camping is like saying that you can slow down gen speeds by removing gens from the game.
What does facecamping have to do with the Hatch?
Killers may also be incentivized to DC if they CANNOT find someone because that someone is more interested in hiding until the Killer DCs. Some Killers are not interested in needlessly dragging a game on when they can just move on to the next game.
You don't understand how frustrating it is to be held prisoner in a game with the intent of being forced to DC and be punished. Some people don't like to have to choose between dragging the game on endlessly and conceding. That's why they introduced the ability to close the Hatch with the Endgame Collapse: so that the game WILL eventually end. Your suggestion of removing the Hatch adds back in that frustration for no good reason.
0 -
But it doesn't give you the satisfaction of the animation.
Perhaps I was too harsh. Down + hook + unhook + tunnel + locker + DS + tunnel + Mori = DC counter

Enjoy your DC ban. :P

First of all were did taking gen's out of the game come from? Second of all it is still kind of unfair to the survivor's who actually did the work and not just a claudette hiding in a dark corner of the map not being useful and waiting for the hatch, not very fair, so if you think its fair your probbably the claudette in the corner doing nothing.
0 -
Case closed :)
0 -
You talked about reducing hatch camping as a reason to remove the hatch. I used the gen example to demonstrate how silly that is.
The Claudette hiding in the corner will punish all Survivors AND the Killer if the Hatch is removed.
