Can we return how event cosmetics worked before?
Make it to where you actually could only get them in the respective event, and not pay for them outside the event

Why would you want this? People hate exclusives and can't always play during that period, yet may want the outfit too. What's so horrible about letting them buy it? Plus, the devs get more money, which helps to support the game. There is absolutely no reason after Legacy skins to make something exclusive or unobtainable. You can make far more people much happier by granting an alternative means of obtaining them.

For starters event skins should feel like event skins, being able to get them outside of the event makes it just feel like a collection skin that you can get whenever

ye, the last hallowed blight cosmetics didnt seem very special, as they were available afterwards anyway, so you didnt even have to participate during the event.
imo they should be restricted to the halloween event (and maybe a special sale outside of it), but not always be available.
i mean, they can still bring them back in tthe next halloween event, so players who missed them can still obtain them - just that its limited to the event periode.

Yeah but think of it this way: it takes a lot to make a good skin and to offer it only temporarily means only a small portion of people will be able to use or even see it. I'm thrilled the old Hallowed Blight skins are still there, because there's some I haven't picked up yet but have had my eye on. If there's even better costumes coming out eventually, I'll certainly want those as well, and if they were locked out of my grasp I would be extremely irritated every time I saw one or thought about missing out.
I know a lot of people like to own limited skins and show them off, especially if it takes dedication to acquire, but the rest of us are really put out by it, and I think overall it's healthier for the game support and player morale to make them more widely available. Full-time players can still earn them for free, so there's that, at least!

Oh no...the humanity...
4 -
Yeah, they don't feel special whatsoever to have them
0 -
The simplest answer I can possibly give; there's no perfect way to do it.
If it's exclusive to the event, people who didn't start playing until after the event (or people who were unable to play during the event) miss out.
If it's available all the time, it feels a little less special to the people who did earn it.
Some are going to prefer one way, some are going to prefer the other. Being able to earn it for free still means you get something for free, at least, so that tends to be the safest compromise. You still get something for you efforts, but you're not left out if you really want that outfit and couldn't play.

Oh no...the humanity...

No thank you. I don't see why it's bad that it be a little "less special."
9 -
With that logic Legacy skins should be in the store
But we know it's not going to happen, those people earned it through grind
Oh wait, so did we in all the events :P
6 -
I honestly don't get why it's so important to have a skin to be "special", it won't magically make you special. The important thing is that it is cool, the fact that more people can have it doesn't make it any less.
6 -
but you guys are making the battlepass cosmetics only available for a 3 months period, and never available again.
I won't be able to play at all during the first battlepass, and maybe not during the second as well. in addition to that, I'm sure some players won't be able to afford the battlepasses and miss out on those exclusive cosmetics.
at least I'm glad I can always get the blight events outfits.

I think every event should have at least one skin that is exclusive for that event, and different skins that can be bought later. I like exclusive skins because it shows I was here during that time and I earned that didn't just spend 10 bucks on it.
2 -
I know and I understand
Just this event skins kinda lose their charm a bit knowing that they could have been released like any other skin
Lately I've been slowly losing faith in this game but I still want you to know I appreciate what you guys are doing

It feels really disappointing that others can just buy the stuff i had to grind for really hard, but i myself cant grind for stuff thats only accessable for real money. Thats just totally unfair. Im feeling betrayed.
1 -
Nah, i'm fine with how it is now.
5 -
As some other people said, they should make them exclusive to that even, with the cosmetics coming back every now and then for a special sale or something. Maybe during Anniversaries all exclusive event cosmetics become available in the store?
1 -
exactly, you can have 5 outfits available to buy and then like a shirt for a survivor thats exclusive
0 -
So does that mean you're going to bring back the howling grounds event cosmetics then since this is the norm now?
0 -
Are we gonna be limited to how many outfits we earn this event or can you not reveal that?
0 -
I'd rather not bring back exclusives. It's disappointing already that I will never be able to earn some skins just because I didn't play the game back then.
4 -
I really don't understand why people want these back. The new way is far better than the old way. I couldn't care less if they allowed people to buy the items I earned during Howling Grounds / Summer BBQ because I got them for free, I simply played a game to earn a cosmetic that would otherwise cost someone real money to earn it.

Thank You! Developer logic really is biased and it shows. @Peanits

I don't know what to tell you. In the first post I made this thread, I acknowledged both sides, the pros and cons of each, and mentioned that there is no definite right answer- both sides have a valid point. That's about as unbiased as you can get. Pointing at something and saying "bias" doesn't win an argument (especially when we're not even arguing).

Wow, someone that doesn't agree with me but actually has a good idea to solve the problem. If this were added I'd probably make them a bit more frequent, maybe for 2/3 days after a new chapter has been released. However, this is a reasonably good idea.

They ruining nurse now by heavily nerfing her and then, not making grind one off events timed exclusives but a ohh you can spend $5 or 30 hours of grind. games dead by profits from these mods/devs who only listen to surv and cringy twitch streamers

Thing is with legacy.. people EARNED that stuff... they worked hard for it... I respect that.. To NOW just give that to everyone... its like what was the point then? It would make those that did fight for it wasted their time and effort... if they could of just waited to get it free... I completely understand their reasoning not to now give out legacy. They changed how they do things. And they are allowed. I don't think they are biased at all.
Last event they made it so you earned it (which was NOT that hard... I'm sure way easier then what they did for getting legacy as well back in the day)... but you had an option to not pay 2 win so to speak. After the event.. now you have to pay if you want it. AND before the event they made it clear you could have that option, play to earn it or buy it. WITH That knowledge you could have played and earned it for free, or just buy it. People were given options and acted accordingly. That seems pretty fair to me. (Back then they never said Oh ya you can just buy legacy so no worries... lol.) It's just different is my point.
TLDR: Legacy was way worse to get then the having to throw people on hooks or pick a flower.... like I don't think that's comparable?
On the other hand, I'm all for making new skins, maybe sort of similar to legacy or something.

No.
Exclusivity sucks whether it’s timed or otherwise, as all it does is exclude people from enjoying things they like. (It’s kinda in the name)
I understand wanting to grind for something exclusive to feel special but I don’t think cosmetics are the way to go. I saw a post in another thread with a perfect compromise saying there should be little badges people can earn that are displayed in lobbies that show they played during the event.
Anyways I for one LOVE how BHVR has been handling events now, and am praying that this philosophy carries over to the battlepass.

This. It’s kind of sad that some people care less about the cosmetic itself, and more about feeling “special”. They only want it if they know others can’t have it.
I’m beyond excited for the new Halloween’s skins because they look DOPE, and I do not care that others will have access to them after the event is over.
4 -
I don’t have any problem with them being available after the event is over. Also the way more items were available with progressively higher play time during the last lunar event was a great way to earn them.

Guys, this is Dead by Daylight, not TF2. This lust for skins to be exclusive is just weird, if not concerning. You can't cash out and sell rare skins so the only value the skins should ever have is personal satisfaction.
The only reason I can assume that you would want to have a skin be exclusive is so that you can flex on others. I pray that I am wrong because that's just sad. Dead by Daylight is a game, a horror one at that!
You should play Dead by Daylight because it's fun for you to play.

Yeah, the way I see it is during the Anniversary, bring back exclusive skins from events that happened during the year, like last year would have had the Hound Mask for Huntress, David's Donkey Jacket, Kate's BBQ shirt and Billy's Pro-Pain Hammer. It would be nice to see what happened in the past year, as well a putting a sale on all cosmetics that were released in the past year. Releasing them for a few days after a chapter is released sounds good too. The only exclusive that is completely off limits is Legacy skins. You should never, NEVER, be able to buy Legacy skins. Unless they find a way to reduce the grind and release another type of Legacy, it should remain exclusive to the people who trucked through the nightmarish bloodwebs when they first released.

thats kinda boring because there are some players who feel so happy about skins because they are limited edition like even legacy , even if it makes survivor like a light lantern it feels good having them
