Buffs or Changes Some Killers Need

I'm sure everybody knows that a majority of the Killers are considered "not viable". First of all, I disagree, since the point of the game is to have fun. Second of all, that's not what we're here to talk about. Instead, I've just come up with a few small changes to certain Killers to hopefully shed some light onto these poor Killers who could use a bit of a hand. Killers are meant to be strong and feared. They shouldn't be held by a leash when their sole purpose in the realm of the Entity is to kill and sacrifice without restraint.

Trapper

  • Give Trapper the ability to carry two traps by default.
  • Reduce the chances of Survivors freeing themselves from a trap by an additional 10%.
  • The first time Survivors try to struggle out of a trap, they will always fail.

Wraith

  • Fully charging the Wailing Bell but not cloaking completely will grant Wraith a speed boost as if he had just uncloaked.
  • While cloaked, Wraith will receive the effects of Shadow Dance by default. The related add-ons will increase this effect.
  • Wraith is completely invisible beyond 24 meters.

Hillbilly

  • He's fine the way he is. No buffs or nerfs are needed here.

Nurse

  • Same case as Hillbilly. Nurse is a high-skill Killer to play, therefore her immense power should not be tampered with.

Shape

  • At Tier 1 Evil Within, Shape has no terror radius by default and receives the Undetectable status effect.
  • While stalking at any time while standing still for one second will reduce The Shape's terror radius to 6 meters.
  • Stalking at any time will remove Shape's red stain, even while moving.

Hag

  • Hag is well-balanced and requires skillful trap placement in order to use effectively. Therefore, she is fine the way she is.

Doctor

  • May require a full rework in order for Madness to be effective across the map.
  • Shock Therapy's Shock effect also slows Survivors for its duration.
  • Shock Therapy's base range is increased to that of the Moldy Electrode, but without the slowing charging speed.
  • Survivors at Madness III will also spread Madness to nearby Survivors as well.
  • When a Survivor screams while being healed, they will lose progress as if the healer had failed a skill check.

Huntress

  • The only thing Huntress really needs is a change to her perks. Otherwise, she's a good Killer.

Cannibal

  • Requires a full rework in order to become more effective. I mean no disrespect towards you Leatherface mains out there, but like old Freddy and his fanbase, the majority rules in this situation.

Nightmare

  • A very well-balanced Killer. I will only make a few QoL suggestions here for very situational, yet perhaps a bit useful tricks.
  • While teleporting to a generator, repairs will pause for the duration of the teleport.
  • When a Survivor steps in a Dream Snare or activates a Dream Pallet, blood will splatter on their screen to obscure vision. (Kind of like Bloopers from Mario Kart, now that I think about it.)
  • When using Dark Devotion, if the obsession receives The Nightmare's terror radius, they will also carry the lullaby as well for sleeping Survivors.

Pig

  • Revoke most nerfs to Pig's kit in the last few months.
  • Reduce default Pig's terror radius to 24 meters.
  • Rules Set No. 2 is built into her power by default. This means, if you don't know already, that Survivors with a trap on their head will not see the auras of Jigsaw boxes until the trap is activated.
  • Pig's ambush successful attack cooldown is reduced, rewarding her for hitting Survivors with an ambush attack. Ambush will also count as a basic attack, inflicting status effects and granting tokens for certain perks. It is not affected by Save The Best For Last though. They do not stack.
  • During an ambush attack, The Pig's terror radius and red stain remains hidden until the end of the ambush.
  • Give Pig add-ons that will increase the distance and movement speed of her ambush attack.
  • Traps will automatically activate when placed on a Survivor's head ONLY after the last generator is completed. To balance this, if there is any activated traps in the game during the End Game Collapse, then the timer will be slowed, therefore buying the Killer more time as they should. Traps won't activate if the Hatch is/was closed. (Basically, the return of Endgame-Piggy.)
  • Lastly, The Pig receives 1 extra trap by default.

Clown

  • Clown carries 1 extra bottle by default.
  • Tattoo's Middle Finger is built into The Clown's power by default, and reveals their aura through gas.
  • The Hindered status effect applies will last for 3 seconds instead of 2.
  • Clown can see through the gas created by The Afterpiece Tonic.
  • While standing within the gas created by The Afterpiece Tonic, The Clown can see the repair progress of generators by the intensity of their auras. (This could be base kit or the replacement for the add-on.)

Spirit

  • Spirit is a very good Killer. The only change I would make is to Prayer Beads.
  • For the Prayer Beads add-on, simply have it reduce the range in which Survivors can hear her phasing sound. Then, it will still have some stealth capability without being somewhat unfair.

Legion

  • Requires a full rework. Many Legion mains are calling for this rework, and I absolutely agree. A lot of people have a great dislike for Legion, and I see why. I have an idea for a rework that I'll likely make a different thread for.

Plague

  • Survivors who are fully infected will have their skill-check success zones reduced.
  • Iridescent Seal: Remove the movement speed and timer reduction.

Ghost Face

  • While crouched, it will take Survivors slightly longer to reveal The Ghost Face.

Demogorgon

  • The Demogorgon is notified when Survivors are sealing their portals.
  • It will take longer for Survivors to seal a portal.
  • Skill-check success zones while sealing a portal can be reduced with the use of add-ons.
  • While entering a portal, Survivors cannot fully seal the portal The Demogorgon is traveling to.
  • Demogorgon can charge and hold Of The Abyss while airborne. (You have no idea how many times this screwed me over.)

That's a wrap, yet again. Let me know what you think. And if you're gonna ask for my credibility, I play both sides and have played every Killer except for Ghost Face and have barely put any time into Nurse, which is why I didn't put much in their sections.

I love a lot of these changes tbh

Huntress should have 1% extra movement speed for every missing hatchet up until a Max of 5% (bringing her up to 115% speed if out of hatchets making her still viable in a chase)

Myers should have stalk on survivors slowly regenerate over time to prevent him being unable to gain his exposed effect if he uses it early in the match and somehow manages to run out of it. If ghostface can infinite stalk, so should Myers.

Clowns shouldn't last for longer neccesarily but also force medium vaults like Freddy's slow. He also shouldn't have to reload nor be slowed during throwing, he should simply have a delay between throws and have some kind of map control/pressure tool.

Doctors charge speed and transition speed should be very slightly faster by default.

Spirit shouldn't have directional audio in phase, should have prayer beads and father's glasses rarity swapped, and shouldn't have collision. Would lead to her feeling a lot more fair expecially with prayer beads as it would require an actual guess as to which side of a gen a survivors on, giving them potential time to jump off, whilst also allowing for potential mindgames in a chase as they won't know your exact 100% location based on audio just how close they are too you.

That's about my only additions haha.

If you're gonna change trappers traps, make them time based for consistency instead of rng based

Thanks man I appreciate it ❤️ some of them aren't entirely mine though, Scott jund came up with the huntress idea and blunty came up with the non-directional audio in phase! The rest is all mine however

Honestly, that idea sounds a whole lot better. Maybe you can see how much they’ve struggled by the intensity of their aura. (I love that mechanic, I sorry)

Good changes idea overall, might I suggest something else for Ghostface tho?

I really think he should lean automatically when he can instead of relying of the prompt to show up because it's very clunky imo, it would be a nice QoL update for him.

Oh yes. That’s a good one. I don’t really know how GF works since I don’t have him. I wouldn’t have known that. 😅

Should I add everyone’s ideas to my post so it’s easier to access? I think all of our ideas should be seen at once when someone comes to see.

"Pig's ambush successful attack cooldown is reduced, rewarding her for hitting Survivors with an ambush attack. Ambush will also count as a basic attack, inflicting status effects and granting tokens for certain perks. It is not affected by Save The Best For Last though. They do not stack."

If you are changing the method of attack, the start-up time of the attack, the duration of the attack, and the cooldown of the attack, what makes it a basic attack?

"Give Pig add-ons that will increase the distance and movement speed of her ambush attack."

I think this is a dangerous area to play with for the Pig. Even tiny increases to her ambush speed/distance can result in ambushes that are much harder to avoid/outrun.

The “basic attack” part was probably not the right thing to do. I’ve never liked it when perks have the “basic attack” mechanic when they don’t need it, so it’s likely my bias that made it that way. I’m also sure that most perks like Third Seal and Sloppy Butcher don’t require a basic attack soo... you can ignore that bit.

As for the add-one for her ambush... I dunno. It seemed to me like her ambush was pretty underwhelming. It could just be because I don’t see very many instances of Pig in matches that I can’t tell. I would still like to see some add-one that will increase the DURATION (that’s a better word for it) of the ambush attack. I get your point, but it’s still on my wishlist, so to speak.

Ok so unpopular opinion time... a majority of these changes to base killers would throw the balance way off when they use their add-ons

Note: I like the ideas and the post is well thought out, but your buffing 90% of the killers base attributes which then can have add-ons to make it very hard to play against.

I feel like I'll sound like an idiot asking this, but um... What does channelling the abyss do? Its very confusing to see a killer do it and not no what it does at all...

  • yandere777
    yandere777 Member Posts: 728

Its the demogorgon's ability. When he is "channeling the abyss" he is charging his lunge attack up and/or checking his portals.

  • Trwth
    Trwth Member Posts: 921

That’s quite alright. Could you tell me some add-ons that could be unbalanced with the changes above? I don’t really see any issues since most of the changes don’t really have add-ons that could affect them with the exception of Clown and maybe Demogorgon. This also brings me back to what I said in the beginning of the post. Killers shouldn’t be restrained so much. They shouldn’t be broken, but they should be strong and Survivors should FEAR the Killer.

    You know what I mean?

Oh wow really? Thats pretty cool! Thanks for explaining it :)

On my phone, I'll put something together tonight when I have time... Though killers should be strong and feared...in the video game world there needs to be balance... Survivors are forced to put themselves in a position where it's potential a killer may spot them.. so fear has nothing to do with that unless you want 60min games while survivors hold the game hostage because they run off gens the second the heart beat starts then killer kicks and gens regress because the killer is feared...

So if you want those super powered killers, the you need to remove gen kicking and a few other mechanics to allow the game to progress while survivors play stealthy to avoid killers

  • MAV
    MAV Member Posts: 52

On phone, but I'll put some op add-on with your proposed changes... Though I agree the killers should be feared, in the video game world there needs to be something called balance... Nothing kills a game faster then unbalanced.. (no one wants to play a game that they die 90% of the rounds, so they will just become killer mains or quit... There needs to be 4x survivors then killers for the game to flow smoothly, so this will make killer queue super long, which is also bad for the game) No one wants a 60min game because the survivors are afraid to work on gens... If you want to make killers super powered then you'd need to remove some changes to keep the game moving like gen kicking... Or else survivors will hold the game hostage by running away the second a heart beat stops...

Moral of the story is the game is fairly balanced to some degree now, if you throw off balance by buffing one side, you'd need to buff the other side as an adequate counter (in this case game would become more of a need to be stealthy then evasion/looping which is a game play style changer as well)

  • I totally agree with all of the changes to the pig. It would make her much more viable and maybe a B- tier killer. Also, a change I want to see is more add-on’s that inflect status effects like blindness and hemorrhage. Those add-on’s always shake the game up a little bit and add an interesting twist.

I'm a bit on the fence with the whole Legion rework, but honestly, that's only because I hope they dont change his fundamental goal of slowing the game down with rushdown.

As i main the Legion, i think a total rework isn't needed. The only thing i will change, just a little, is how his power work. I mean, every killer need to use their own power to kill the survivor. Using it only for first hit isn't great. So, my idea is :

Attack a survivor with Feral Frienzy when is already inflicted by deep wound doesn't deplete completly is power, but just a little.

Just this. It's just a LITTLE thing, but can change a lot of things if played with some perk / addons.

    Some example :

    • Smiley Pin : You can effectively use that on multiple survivor. As now, if you hit the survivor in Deep Wound is useless. You can apply that debuff, but you chase him either way, cause you don't really know where the other survivor are, or they are already far away. And 60 sec are too little. With it, you can use it to double hit a survivor, and running to another one cause you can still see them (if in Terror Radious)
    • Frank Mix Tape : You can use it and it's powerful, like it should be, cause it's a purple addon. As now, this is useless, cause you need to hit 5-6 times (don't remember how many) with your power and it need to be fully charged before you can use it. You can kill faster without it now. And you will hardly do so many hit with only one use of Feral Frenzy (exept if the survivor stay still)
    • STBFL : You can use it more effectively than the other killer. And at the same time, it's not a powerful perk cause the first hit is normally deal with Feral Frenzy. You just save a little time before you hook them.

As i main Legion, i think a total rework isn't needed. Just need to change a little his power to change it greatly. So, this is my idea :

Hitting a survivor with Feral Frenzy while is in Deep Wound will not deplete completly his power, but only a little.

Just this. Only for this the Legion can be extremly powerful, with some addons / perk.

    Here some example :

    • Smiley Pin : You can use it effectively to double hit a survivor to apply the debuff and then go to another survivor cause you can still see the location of the other survivor in TR. As now, the Pin are useless cause you will lose the location of the other survivor, so you will chase the first guy either way. And 60 seconds are too little.
    • Frank Mix Tape : It will become powerful as it should be (since is a purple addon). Cause you need to wait for the power to refill completly before using it again, it will become strong but not too much. Survivor can still run around wasting killer time for the power to deplete without taking a lot of hit. As now, this is a useless addon.
    • STBFTL : It will stack up more easily than other killer, but at the same time, is not that much powerful that it will change completly the flow of the game. It will only save you some time before the hook (cause normally the first hit is with Feral Frenzy).

I think you’re taking my point way too literally. When I say Killers should be feared, I never said to make it so that Survivors don’t even stand a chance. Besides, all of these changes that I proposed above are to Killers that are considered “not viable” by most of the community. Sure, people CAN do well with those Killers, but it’s much more difficult to do so than with Killers such as Spirit or Hillbilly.

Oh, Idea for Doctor that i shared in another thread. Make it so the illusions of the Doctor will lunge for Survivors. Make them panic more, wondering if that lunge is real or not. Some others also added things like fake gens appearing and even fake survivors to "Heal". Not sure how that last one would go, but I feel more things like this should be added/replace other things to really nail home the "Madness" the Doc is supposed to put into the Survivor's mind.
