How to counter spirit?

I keep getting Shreked by Spirit Players, is there a good YT guide to counter her or any tips in general?

You just equip Iron Will and hope that she makes a lot of mistakes

Counterplay refers to using mechanics to counter something.

Therefore Spirit has no counterplay as no in-game mechanic can stop her "per se" no matter when and how you use said mechanics.

Example for counterplay: Hillbilly wants to chainsaw you. You hop over a close-by window in time. You just countered the chainsaw by using an in-game mechanic correctly. It will ALWAYS work if you vault (in time). That's counterplay.

Against Spirit all you can do is "guess correctly" and hope the Spirit player is bad and plays without a headphones.

U should be kinda hopeless against killer the killer should have more chance to catch u whats the point if u can straight 1v1 the killer like most of the roster

And this right here is the reason why DBD needs an offline mode. Killers want to be able to catch ANY survivor regardless of skill difference (some 0 hour rank 20 killers apparently expect to catch 5000+ hour rank 1 survivors) and survivors want to be able to have long chases since repairing gens and hiding is boring as hell for any elite survivor.

Definitely try to be misleading with your scratchmarks. It’s always best to slam a pallet down or go threw a window when you know she is phasing because she then has to use a lot of her phase time to go around the obstacle.

I don’t get this reasoning. Guessing is counterplay. It sounds like you just want something for survivors to totally shut down Spirit to the point where she can’t catch you. Sorry you can’t ez loop her like other killers. All killers should make you guess better than they currently do.

    There is no counter.

Its all about fun and totally skillbased mindgames.

Iron Will has to be a staple at high ranks. Against brilliant game design. I'm pretty sure they have 1-2 people balancing this game.

the problem is the map design are really ######### every pallet is non mindgameable and u can literally go 1v1 most of the killers which makes nurse and spirit the only option to end chases fastest some other killers are viable too but nowhere near as spirit or nurse

And this right here is what I hate about forums. You take/waste your precious time explaining "why" something has no counterplay and what "counterplay" even is and people think you're talking about your opinion on something and assume/conclude like there's no tomorrow.

Where did I say ANYTHING about MY opinion about Spirit? Where did I say I want her power to be changed?

And no, counterplay and guessing are two different things and I explained the difference perfectly. If you're unwilling to use your head to understand the difference then I'm not willing to even contribute to this discussion any further.

"Every Pallet is non-mindgameable"... Yeah, sure.

There are some Bullshit Loops, but you can mindgame a lot of Stuff. Look at Haddonfield, almost every Pallet is playable (except the Indoor Ones) for Killer. Or Hawkins, nearly every Pallet is unsafe.

Jungle gyms are great places to run towards when Spirit is phasing. If she is already phasing and you hop over a window, you just won that chase.

There are SOME bs loops but there's a core issue in terms of visibility. Some killers NEED visibility while some killers NEED closed loops.

Huntress and Plague need open pallets while non-projectile killers hate open pallets as they can literally just run around them till they get the pallet down. Personally I think most pallets should have partial sight blockers to make up for the difference between projectile killers and melee killers. This increases the mindgameability of said loops without crippling specific killers.

I haven't seen anyone come up with a reliable guide for countering Spirit. And we probably never will.

Spirit is so dominate in chases because she can track survivors, but survivors can't track her.

All you can do is make it as hard as possible for a Spirit to track you, and hope that the Spirit misjudges some of her phases.

So how are putting down pallets, using windows, and mixing up scratchmarks not counterplay?

Versus good spirit - Death is just the matter of time.

Versus average spirit - Might be able to juke for a while before you go down.

Versus bad spirit - EZ survivor game bois.

    *Considered you have Iron Will*
