will there ever be a dead by daylight 2 after 5 years?
just a question i have for the devs in few years when they will eventually stop adding contect for this game, a new game with improved graphics and many new mechanics.
could it ever happen?

Well they said last year they'd like DbD1 to last 5+ more years.
So 2 would be 7-10 at least if they stopped at 5 more and started a sequel then.

I don’t get this, this game is constantly being updated, why make a second version of the game? They would likely make an entirely new game eventually
5 -
Why? They are having a hard enough time getting this one to work where everyone is happy (Which seems impossible).

no, there's literally no reason for them to make a sequel, it's a multiplayer game. they will never make dead by daylight 2, so get that off your head.
if they happen to stop working on the game one day, which is not happening anytime soon, they'll sell the game to a bigger company that's going to keep working on the game.

For any multiplayeyr game like DBD that already has a big following they aren't just going to make a new game. The only reason they would make a new game is if there is something they believe is crucial to the future of the game and they can't implement with the current game's engine/parameters without having to fully re code the game. They won't make a new game simply for a graphical update because it would be a massive waste of money. Assuming they can't just update the current build, they would likely have to do a ton of coding just to make the game and upgrade the graphics. This would cost a lot of money and hours. They have no guarantee that people would buy the new game or if it would be as successful. It's a huge risk for only slight improvements. An example of something major would be if dedicated servers were impossible for the current game and they felt it was crucial for DBD to have them. Then, they might create a second game.

this is like asking why there isn't a league of legends 2...

The developers have said they want this to be a 10 year project. We are only in year 3. Think about that.

Haha yeah, or a Dota 2 2

How exactly would DBD 2 be different from DBD 1?
1 -
"a new game with improved graphics", first of all DBD was launched with Unreal Engine 3, until few months ago they had upgraded to Unreal Engine 4 that give more darker tones around the map, and as well give alot of optimization. There is no need for another sequel it would be pointless when they keep bringing contents to the game thats what making people keep playing this game.
Tell me what reason you want sequel for? I mean seriously if you think about this for a minute, they would have to go through the licensing again for those specific killers!! Mechanics can easily be changed in current game as they had done few times!

Impossible in two years. Maybe in around 10 years.

Most likely completely different in the way the main game loop mechanics work. It would give them space to completely rethink stuff like hooks, gens, core map design, perks etc. based on the experience they made with the current game. Could be very refreshing actually.
Of course it isn't worth doing at the moment with DbD beeing a lucrative gaas for BHVR. It's more likely they would do a a game based on DbD lore or within the same world of the entity at the moment, before even thinking about DbD 2.

DBD is more like a game as a service. Continues updates and content as long there is income to finance it.

This get will live forever, like tf2

The thing is, a sequel would allow them to rectify issues that are inherent within this game's code and engine.
That, or I suppose they could relaunch the game at some point in the future, with more content and overhauls to the game.
But I think that's just wishful thinking.

or a minecraft 2

I don't see them really ever making a sequel to this game anytime soon, it's sort of like TF2. Any sequel they release will have WAY less content than the first game for YEARS on. Even if they can carry over all their licenses for all the killers. The maps, mechanics, gameplay, killers will all have to be remade and improved, they can't recycle otherwise what is the point even of a sequel?
And that is the thing, there's really no point to a sequel because unless it's a revamp of gameplay entirely it would just be a base game DBD without any of the content it's recieved over the past 3 years

It probably won't get a sequel but I would really want them to slow down with the amount of dlcs. The game is getting really bloated with the amount of killers and survivors

Sequels of these types of long running games is a big gamble. The amount of content in the current game whould typically exceed the next version as it would need time to grow. Part of the player base would prefer playing the older game increasing the chances of the new failing.
It's safer to milk the current game for as long as they can.

Without a really good reason, I’d doubt it.
DBD’s style of game development is similar to most other major games- they update it with new content and stuff.
