Anyone else remember when mettle of man was a god tier perk?
Ah yes... my old and still favourite perk was butchered ruthlessly by the game development anyone else remember when it was a god tier perk? These days if you use mettle of man you will likely end up getting yourself killed trying to get protection hits that don't even register.

It wasn't "god tier", it was broken. No work was required except to fail at being chased 3 times so you can fail a 4th with little consequence. (The arua reading was minor and when used late game didn't have any drawback.) TBH if protection hits actually worked consistently the perk would be in a ok spot. It's nerf requiring a survivor to work for it wasn't underserved.

No but i remember very first/old MoM almost kill the game and make me want to uninstall especially unfun for both solo survivor who don't owned Ash while you only see Hillbilly/Mori every <BAD WORD> match and M1 Killer that you can't counter MoM anything

Yes, I do remember when multiple survivors had instaheals to go with their instaheals in the same trial. It was such a short-sighted design decision. But, credit where credit is due, it is now extremely difficult to obtain a free hit, as it should be.

Old MoM encouraged survivors to take hits and heal and take more hits and heal, seriously wasting time.
Killers did survivors a favor by having it nerfed. Escape rates prob went up with it gone.

It needed nerfs but they over did it. Hopefully they’ll give it some buffs or fix protection hits.

Yeah it was definitely OP back in the day... unfortunately the devs decided that instead of balancing it to just throw it in the trash altogether. It’s the same thing they did with legion. Why try to balance something that’s OP and unfun when you can just throw it away?

That's more like new MoM. Old MoM just let you play normally and on your fourth hit, you just don't get hit.
To be frank here, I don't know where you got the idea where escape rates went up by it being nerfed. No matter how I see it, the perk is worse than before, so please enlighten me on how you think otherwise.

It would be nice if it was changed tocount safe unhooks only... it's a lot of work to get 3 safe unhooked in a game so not free

Ash is basically just a skin now his perks could be deleted and no on one would the wiser. Which might be better idea just delete the perks give him 3 new ones maybe something worth using.

Ironically you have a pic of freddy's perk considering Freddy is immune to BT if the rescuer is asleep. But at red ranks its not often you get that many unhooks usually 2 other survivors are trying to get points as well and your not always going to be near the hook unless you are wasting time not doing gens and if you are.... all the better for the killer. The point being made is the perk is almost useless currently because protection hits are bugged.

Yep threw legion in the dumpster, even playing mostly survivor i can say the nerfs were way to much, all at once to appease survivors. They could have done half the nerfs (the moon walking and repeatedly stabbing you with FF to down you) the rest were overkill.

I wish they would change it so 3 unique events were required to activate MoM.
1 Protection Hit
1 Pallet Stun
1 Safe Rescue
No one could argue that a survivor that performed all three of those actions in a single game "didn't earn it". Yet at the same time, it is not a suicidal task trying to get all 3 actions. The killer even has some control over preventing the perk from activating.
But the way that they gutted Mettle of Man is almost criminal.

I remember, made me quit being a killer because of how op it was. Dev's failed the community thinking that was an ok perk too be released, and they only released it for boosted sales early on.

Two of those things should commonly be happening in a game though and one protection hit isn’t hard to get. I think it’d be too easy to get like that, maybe it could be reworked to be a self-borrowed time?
Could help against tunneling and you wouldn’t have to hope someone else has bt.

That wasn't so long ago.
But what about it? It's good that it's gone. It was a legitimate issue that made the game bad, because Killers even at the highest levels had issues dealing with it. It was too strong.

None of them are a given and all 3 individual events would be required. If a killer is ultra paranoid about MoM then they could try and keep track of which survivors are obviously trying for them and just denying them the opportunity to get all 3. For example, if I'm the killer and I'm dragging a survivor to a hook and another survivor is desperately trying to block me for a protection hit I can make a mental note.
Later on if that same survivor is trying to bait a pallet stun, I could just choose to do a number of things. Eat the pallet stun and let the survivor pull off his MoM protection which I could then choose to continue pursuing or just gain the aura reading bonus. Or I could choose to ignore that particular survivor until only 2 survivors are left and then deal with him.
Another counter to this version of MoM would be iron grasp or agitation. The killer could just refuse survivors all opportunities to get protection hits. If survivors are trying to obviously block a path then the killer using either of these perks should be able to evade a body blocking survivor and just go to a different hook.
What I'm trying to suggest would add an element of skill to both roles. Killer and survivor.

I could get the stun just by looping, if you respect it then I’ll just keep looping till you take it, bt and safe unhooks are a given and I guess agitation could kinda counter this, unless I block you from behind the hook.

Yeah, just because you are on the survivor-side doesn't mean you should ignore game balance. This game must be a give and take.
By itself it wasn't broken, but it synergizes too well with DS and Adrenaline along with instaheals.

They knew it was broken BS too. Probably to make sales which is shady. It came out in the same patch DS got nerfed. Can you imagine how bullcrap old DS with old MoM would be? Throw in Deadhard and insta heals. Whats that...6 potential hits to down someone instead of 2? Hit, Deadhard voids hit, Mom Voids hit. Insta voids hit...DS voids down. FFS...
It was BS as it was. Very fair feeling when a survivor half decent becomes UNTOUCHABLE because they know how to Deadhard into a third leg of the chase instead of the clowns who deadhard to delay being down by 2 seconds. THEN when you finaly close in for the hit and....it doesn't count.

I'm fine with a safe hook rescue and a protection hit but no way pallets done it's actually really easy to get a pallets stun.
Especially against the killer who doesn't typically care about or respect pallets

Least your killer was not swept under the rug and received Soft Nerf's here and there constantly. They just straight up looked at him saw the few tweaks they could make nodded there heads in agreement and tosses him into the trash and said we did good.
Jokes aside I really wish instead of both sides getting nerfs over and over they instead fix the bugs, gives perks and killers QoL buffs, when they say "rework" they rework something instead of straight up nerfing it.
I did like DS change though. I just wish it was deactivated If another person got hooked or you were the last survivor. Otherwise it would have a infinite time to make up for this and as soon as a survivor got hooked would put you back into a injured state so they cant slug to victory.

I think they listen to the negative outcries and Positive reactions more then the middle people saying "X and Y needs this tweaked to be viable or at least playable"

With old MoM you could just equip it and all you need to do is play the game. Tell me the last game you played that you did not get hit more than 3 times? Those are the only rare occasions where you'll not see MoM activate.
