Killer rancor
Since survivors are allowed to escape even when they haven't completed a single objective.
Why wouldn't the Killer have a similar mechanic ?
Something like "if the Killer has not killed anyone during the match the next person they injure will be downed instantly and be open for a mori".

The hatch doesn't require a perk slot so imo this shouldn't either.
Also, it's a one time thing not an group wide expose status.
But you got a point there. Maybe noed should be a part of the end game collapse instead of a perk.

Hatch is there to prevent Hostage Situations. I mean, we can totally remove the Hatch when no Gens were done. Enjoy your 3h game then.

Lol my games are around 9 mins. Even before the hatch rework there was no way someone hiding for even 15 mins. Lol

Just grant instadowns and moris from the start of the match tbh. Makes it more realistic. If a serial killer hits you, you're going down and you're not getting back up. Just remove hooks altogether. And since we're removing hooks, let's remove pallets to balance it out.

There's it's called the egc it's just timed. You dont have to chase, down or hook anyone you just have to close the hatch and protect the doors.

Yeah but the hatch isn't designed as a free escape like you think hence my comment being a bit sarcastic showing the other end of the killer does well and doesn't have to hook the last one (sarcasm doesn't translate well in writing of course 😛).
The mechanic was by design made to end the game and stop it from being prolonged for a silly amount of time.

The difference is as survivor you have to rely on teammates and as killer you only have to rely on yourself. The hatch gives you a chance to escape if you get into a lobby full of potatoes. It's not a completely free escape, since you still have to outlive the other survivors, and the killer might just slug to prevent the hatch game entirely. While I don't think having to slug for the 4k is good design, your suggestion wouldn't fix it.
Besides, it's a lot easier for a killer to get one kill than it is for a survivor to escape. Unless you have a key, but that's a different problem entirely.

Ah you're right we're reading the initial post differently I suppose. I read the first bit and saw "last survivor escapes while no gens are even done" then the 'fix' sounds more like no death hooks completed but give me a mini rancor. I think the "kill" part is more so someone using moris doesn't get a free rancor on the final survivor as well

The hatch is there to prevent the world's longest game of hide and seek. Either the survivor finds the hatch and you leave with a 3k (you won), or you find the hatch and close it and the survivor dies to the EGC (you also won).
Giving the killer a free kill doesn't prevent the game from being held hostage, that's purely to give the killer a free kill. There would be no point to adding something like that.

The hatch is a necessary evil. I never enjoyed looking for the 4th survivor before egc when only 1/0 generators we're done. Idc if I get the 4th kill or not, I know I already won.

@TheUnendingNightmare Idea is for the killer to make their kills... but also for players to have fun playing the game.
Survivors can be dammed in a match if they get found first... so now you'd also want it so that last survivor has zero chance. Doesn't sound like it would be a fun match.

Nowadays a survivor can hide until almost everyone is dead, search for the hatch and wait for it to open, then proceed to use it even tho they did NOTHING.
Back in the days at least they had to have done something for it to spawn.

Well no, the point of the game is for you to chase, catch, and kill the survivors. The point of the hatch is to prevent the game from never ending so you can move on to the next match and continue to chase, catch, and kill survivors. Giving you a free kill for no reason would be silly.

The game is literally survivors being kidnapped and brought into the entity's realm to be tortured. With the way things are...it's literally the opposite if you aren't playing has the Spirit, Hillbilly or iri-Huntress.

Remember when you say "Back in the days..." Meaning what it was and now it has been changed. Why is that?
The "Back in the days... "... Not enough gens done.. Well no point working on gens then... Maybe I'll just sit in the basement and bounce between lockers for 20 minutes wasting a bunch of your time. People want the game to come to an end when there is one left, not have it potentially drag out for longer then it took to kill the first 3 survivors.

The last survivor can't hold the game hostage anymore. If 2 players are dancing around the hatch trying to "WIN" that is on them.

No my point is you now don't even have to wait until 3 gens are done before hiding to wait for the hatch. They can do it has soon has the match starts!
Meaning ppl don't even have to try anymore.
Better idea why don't we just remove the hatch ? Like why is it there in the first place.

Nah can't remove the hatch, cause it would make the game unfun if you were the last. It would make it pointless to play once the 3rd survivor was killed.
I made a big post about this in the past, since you don't need to work on gens and gens are boring, as a teammate playing solo, I only need to do saves and chases to have my fun and go for hatch at the end. However I don't think removing the hatch is an answer to that.

IMO they could add in a better scoring system that gave the group of survivors more points for getting objectives done in the match depending on how many survivors are still alive. Basically adding in more teammate scoring so people would be more interesting in working as a team and not by themselves.

I am very pleased with EGC. I'll never forget a game I had back before the EGC update.
Was playing Billy and got 3 survivors sacrificed before a single gen was done. The last survivor hated me so much I walked around the map and did nothing for almost 15 minutes, he wanted to drag the game out so much until I decided to DC. Luckily I found him at the 15 minute mark and sacrificed him. Though those 15 minutes were the most horrible and boring minutes of my time playing DbD.
I'm pleased with the EGC change. Don't think killers need an equelivant of hatch. Can it feel unfair at times? Yes, but I play both sides and a lot of solo survivor and I hate when I do well but my team drags me down. As a killer I usually give last survivor hatch anyways cause I see doublepipping more like a curse than a blessing.

EGC wasn't added at the same time than the hatch rework and not for the same reason/purpose.
EGC was implimented to prevent looping the Killer endlessly once the gates were open.
The hatch got reworked a bit after that bc survivors complained it was unfair to be stuck repairing 1 or 2 gen when you are the last one alive.

They only implemented this too avoid games being held hostage. Giving a chance for a free hatch escape may not be ideal. But it beats the alternative. Letting the killer Mori here doesn't prevent the game from being taken hostage.

The hatch was rework to allow the last survivor to escape since repairing 1 or 2 gens was hard when you are the last one alive.
Jeez everyone is confusing the EGC and hatch rework. Those are two different mechanics that were put in the game seperatly.

They were put in at the same time. It doesn't take a genius to see why they added the hatch opening even with no gens done. It was to prevent the game being held hostage. It was not put in as a consolation prize.

In the past if no gens were done. Survivors would just hide to deny the killer a chance to kill them. Thus taking the game hostage. Where the killers only choice usually was to DC. The hatch spawning for the last survivor regardless of how many gens are completed was implemented to prevent that. It really isn't that hard to understand. At this point I can only assume you are trolling.

Actually that is false.
The game is survivors being brought to the realm along with the killers to play in a match and has a setup so the survivors have hope escaping a hook, escaping the match etc which is what the Entity feeds off. So knowing this granting a free kill woulsnt make any sense. The hatch itself does add to this as it gives more hope to the last survivor for the Entity to feed off.
It's a game played for fun. The actual reason for the hatch has been explained as it's not fun to have a game of hide and seek with nothing happening. It's complete waste of time. It's not about a free escape it's about allowing you to move onto the next match quicker. It's not about playing badly the new design is purely to remove a specific scenario that plagued the game for the longest time.
How does granting someone a free kill even compare? For one it goes against the lore by removing hope from people so less for the Entity to feed off, it actually does help to end the game when it's already over and it's an unfun mechanic and punishes someone for doing well.
While the hatch can be viewed as unfun it not about a free escape. It has an actual purpose which is a lot better and less unfun than the alternative which is looking around for that one person trying to finish gens or hiding around the map.

Having an assured escape route doesnt sound that exciting for anyone evolved.

Killer can also close the hatch, so I figure that seems pretty balanced. It's more luck or knowing hatch spawn locations in the end that will help you.

You're both saying the exact same thing.
A hostage situation arose BECAUSE it's hard to repair gens solo with no hatch, so the survivors would prefer to hide for ages rather than risk death on a gen.
The way I see it, the hatch still rewards survivors far too highly for doing nothing since the EGC patch, and if less than 2 gens are completed when survivor #3 dies, I believe the gates should be powered and the EGC timer should start, as though the hatch has been shut. No hatch.
This would still give the survivor a small chance of escape, but remove the "7000 points: Did Nothing" score event.

Also, as a Killer main (I am The Legion) I wanna say:
Having a free kill is stupid. Even Moris require work. A free kill would be the single most unsatisfying thing in the whole game. It would literally cheapen the entire point of DBD and make it really unfun.
