I thought in the latest patch notes (3.2.1) it said...
That it would try to put you in matches where this doesn't happen....
So I was placed with inexperienced players even though you guys stated "using the highest rank of all players" In this case would be me in solos which is Rank 12.
So why wasn't I paired with Rank 14-9? instead of rank 20's?

It depends on your region and match availability for you and the killer.
Seems like the killer player could have been waiting a long time so it put you in there so they got a match.
The matchmaking can go a max of 6 ranks either way.

matchmaking after rank reset is turned off basically
4 -
It goes further than 6 ranks, I can only assume the september matchmaker dev update has been rolled back without notice.

Yeah cause it literally put me with 2 Rank 20's (2 Survivors) which is 8 Ranks below mine...

It is only meant to go six but that could be taken off the killers rank so as survivor you will see a larger disparity.
A rank 12 killer could have ranks 18 to 6 all solo players if they have to wait long enough but it should not be the norm unless there are very few playing one side and they had to wait a silly amount of time.
If you see any anomalies report them to the devs as it all helps.

Yes, the example above is wihin their rules but this is the game I got last night, well outside the 6 level "hard limit", I reported it to the bug section.

Nice one. It's good go see people report these things.
I am sure the devs appreciate it as Peanits said there are some edge cases and it all helps to iron them out 😁.

Then again, I'm the rank 12 Survivor, not killer. Plus matchmaking put me into a match extremely fast.

As I said it should be a max of 6 ranks. You are 6 ranks away from the killer in the screenshot.
Your queue time doesn't mean much if they waited a long time. If the killer waited a long time their search widens to find them a lobby and eventually will pick who is available at the time hopefully within the parameters.
The match making isnt perfect and adjustments are needed which will take time but in this case there is an reasonable explanation for this happening.

I'm surprised people are still surprised by bugs/glitches in this game lol

The matchmaking puts you withing 6 ranks of the killer, so you a rank 12 matching with a rank 18 is accepted. The rank 20 is also within 6 ranks of the killer so that is accepted.
I don't think the matchmaking forces all the survivors to be within 6 ranks only that they are within the killers 6 ranks.

It's well established that matchmaking rarely works as intended in this game.

I still don't know why it is so hard to implement a BASIC algorithm for the rank selection. You don't even need an experienced programmer for that, and I say that as a hobby game dev who has experience with Unreal Engine and the Steam SDK...

You’re within 6 ranks. You could play a Rank 6 Killer, or a Rank 18 Killer. That is the threshold.

We went over how the matchmaking works here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/92295/
In this case, you are within 6 ranks of the killer, so it would be a valid match. This would only happen if the game is unable to find survivors closer to their rank- it would rather give you a match over waiting an hour for the perfect match. There's also an exception for new players (above rank 15) to ensure that the get a match regardless of how many other new players are playing at that time.

And yet it still does not work all the time. Just finished a match where the highest survivor rank was 3 and we got matched with a rank 15 killer.
0 -
But YOU were 6 ranks from the killer.
They were less than 6 from the killer.

The OP's example is fine since it's within the 6 rank limit.
This one however is not and should be treated as such.

Where do I send those informations ?

This is where I'm lost.
So, they found Me + A rank 18, a Rank 20 another Rank 20 and put us into a group with one another. Why not just find another Rank 18 or Rank 20 to replace a rank 12 in an obviously misplaced match.
Like I understand where you both are coming from, but a Team is more effective than doing gens by yourself and me being with new players against a Killer (Billy =/) Ruins the ranking system.
Hell, if Rank 12 is within his 6 Ranks why not just put 2/3 rank 12's instead of rank 20's or 18's? They are all within his 6 Ranks.
He could have these ranks in his matches:
Rank 20 - 2 Players (1 More Could've been picked)
Rank 19 (Could've been picked)
Rank 18 - 1 Player (1 More Could've been picked)
Rank 17 (Could've been picked)
Rank 16 (Could've been picked)
Rank 15 (Could've been picked)
Rank 14 (Could've been picked)
Rank 13 (Could've been picked)
Rank 12 - 1 Player (3 More Could've been picked)
That's where I'm fed up with this matchmaking, it literally makes no sense.
It could have picked 8 other ranks (Grey or Yellow) for that last player instead it picked a rank 12? Does your matchmaking know that other people with different ranks are trying to play the game too? And since Rank Reset happened don't you think there should've been more possibility than just picking the highest ranked?
Even if it couldn't find Yellow or Grey ranks (Somehow) for a full team it still could've put an entire Green rank team against a Rank 18 who might I say probably never played this game until recently.
So to me personally, you need to REVAMP your matchmaking system.

Your lucky, my games like this start with a survivor DC if they find out the killer is not one they like. Which is basically anyone that isn't trapper, huntress or bubba. Then they do nothing and end up with less than 8k total points at the end.
EU Xbox player here. As I know meta's and playerbases vary massively depending on format and region.

So...fair and balanced matchmaking

It was a lie.
Had way too many games where the killer was close or exactly the same rank as the lowest survivor rank and the highest survivor rank was like 10 ranks higher.

Did they immediately dc when they found out you were Nurse or left after getting wrecked?
0 -
as you can see I have some points, I also knocked them down, and they just DC, game was over

They aren’t “Edge cases,” and I’m sure you aren’t worried but it was on full display a couple days ago when a streamer showed four rank 6 all against a rank 20 killer with one perk.
Should one of us share that info with you or the literally couple thousand players that saw it and said it was terrible for the game,
