Hook Struggle NEEDS to change

The hook struggle isn't an actual mechanic. It's just hitting one button over and over.

Even if you don't stop hitting the space bar, the game can still ignore you pushing the space bar and sacrifice you as if you had stopped.

You could just make it go to the struggle phase needs to either:

  1. Just have the character struggling without you having to spam a single button
  2. Make it random skill checks during the struggle phase (but no punishment for not hitting a skill check while being unhooked).
  3. Make it a quick-time event that slowly adds more and more checks where you have to hit A, W, S, or D to stop one of the entity claws from impaling you. there are four claws, four direction keys... just makes sense.

People don't like spamming one button non-stop. Spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebarspacebar spacebar spacebar for a full minute isn't actually fun.

Either go for making it more engaging, or give our hands a break.

I wish it was just skillchecks instead of spamming a button

Changing the struggle action to mouse wheel would make it a non issue if you are on pc.

Yes, struggling to struggle make struggle pointless, great argument lol, personally, I think you don't have to hit the struggle button enough, amp the required button mash, struggle isnt struggle enough, as for the ignoring part, that is just a fault of something else, such as bad keyboard, fps drop, etc

This is still not engaging game play.

Which is a broken mechanic if anything like an fps drop can kill you even though you're doing everything right.

Well ... some players, including me, use the spacebar spamming to decided when to let go. Like if someone decides to farm an unhook with the killer coming right behind him, I usually stop spamming space in case I already have seen, that this survivor doesn't run borrowed time.

Anyway, it's a mechanic that let's you decide the exact point when to exit that game. And I don't wanna loose that. I don't want to wait for a skill-check, and I dont want a challenge during the struggling phase that might cause an unwanted sacrifice.

I suggest you we might just hold space pressed instead of spamming it, maybe?

Besides that: If you don't want to spam the space button, why don't you just use a macro? Is that somehow bannable, or something?

I prefer to just struggle by holding down a button. Struggling tends to be the most boring part of a game for me. And I zone out a lot.

I hate the spacebar mashing in more ways than one, since I suffer from carpal tunnel and mashing a button rapidly literally HURTS.

It should just be changed to a phase where you automatically struggle without having to press a key, with no option to escape or give up.

This would solve a lot of problems -- the annoyance of having to mash a button, people essentially DCing with no penalty, people giving up so their friend can have the hatch, people accidentally dying due to lag. And it would just generally force people to stay in games that would have been under control and winnable if they had just hung in there, waited for a save, and not suicided.

And if you miss it for a millisecond because you got a finger cramp you die, happens to me a lot :(

Or your keyboard messes up and there is input lag. That too.

Need the option of letting go. Let’s just keep struggle as is. Out of everything in this game that needs to be fixed or reworked, this is extremely low priority. And honestly, it’s been this way for how long? Sure it gets old, but it’s fine

I agree. The inmersive part is a joke. Specially because this game is not a horror game anymore so smashing a button doesn't make you feel terror or something like that , just make you feel frustrated when the game don't recognize it.
