Hatch standoffs are sorta back

Doing Gens gets you nowhere.
Once the gen is done the killer will kick the hatch, now you are stuck in the same problem of opening 2 exit games.
1 -
Can't you do generators though?
0 -
Honestly, it never left. If both the killer and survivor make it to the hatch right before it opens, the survivor cannot enter, and the killer cannot close.
1 -
Not when three gens were near the hatch.
0 -
Alright, that's fair.
1 -
Well that's actually not true.
If she waits by the hatch do the rest of the gens?
She starts to go to gens?
Go to hatch?
She closes hatch? Open exit gates.
It is actually pretty avoidable. (plus once she leaves the hatch to go after you, once you do a gen and doesn't close it you win!)

Three were near the hatch.

Hmm...
-tries to think of strat-
Ah!
I know, Drop 2/3 Pallets in a certain location of the map. (Obviously have spine chill [Cause I have it literally on every character after the Myers nerf.]) So when she starts to head towards you, you have a head start to the hatch.
So A) She either shuts the hatch and you can get the gates.
B) Or she wastes her time to chase you and you get the hatch.
Could've that worked in that certain game?
0 -
That could’ve possibly worked and I always run spine chill (have for a few months :P) I’m also using plunderers now so I can find keys more commonly.

Here's an idea. Get however many gens are needed to power the exit gates up to 99.9%. Pop one then if the killer leaves the hatch to investigate then run to the hatch. If the killer keeps camping, pop another one. A lot of times killers will just AFK while standing on the hatch to screw with survivors. Maybe this increases the risk of dying, but you'll get more bloodpoints even if you die just by getting into another game. No matter how you slice it, hatch stand offs are a waste of time and unnecessary. In the past, I would always blame the killer for hatch stand offs but this sounds entirely like your fault.

Had a killer try that on me once. I waited at the door and they at the hatch. After 5 to 10 minutes they DC.
1 -
This most certainly was the killer player being at fault, tbh.
1 -
I waited at the door for awhile but they were also pretty dedicated.
How is it 100% my fault? It takes more than one player for this to happen.
0 -
Unfortunately the man has created a cult and now everyone plays like him as killer
0 -
This is not accurate, if the killer closes the hatch and the survivor isn't already in the way out it closes in the survivors face
0 -
but then hatch is closed and hatch standoff is no more? and you get BPs for doing a gen?
0 -
I was just about to say this - @GrootDude @Micheal_Myers pretty much nailed it - even if gens are close to the hatch..
0 -
If I did a gen near her then I would’ve gotten caught.
0 -
If the solution is “just do gens” and this is my fault then old hatch must’ve been fine since I could just do gens to counter it.
0 -
Your options: gens, they are all to close to the hatch? Congratulations your team 3 gened themselves. Kudos to the spirit to protect the right gens.
Are you injured and no luck with the chests and no healthcare/medkit...that's sad, otherwise, heal yourself, use fast vault to lure the spirit and run to the hatch by mindgaming her and use the boost from the one hit to reach the hatch.
If she closes the hatch, open the gates.
There are options you could have proactively approach to break the stalemate.
1 -
My teammates dropped like flies so only one gen got done and it got done while she chased me. She wouldn’t take any bait and I was at full health. That’s the thing, she wouldn’t close it.
0 -
but then don't you just do the furthest gen and think about a tactical way of looping around to the trapdoor? surely with the distance to the gen and SB or something you would have enough distance to move away without getting caught?
as @Cymer says there are proactive ways outta this situation. I think to just give up like "######### it hatch stand off gg" then is not really the way to go.
Me personally, I rarely come across a killer holding the hatch hostage. If I see a killer holding it hostage I would go do a gen, then if I get away with that do another and THEN id just run for the hatch, it gets closed - oh no - killer chase - I died - get points and pip from my altogether awesome exploits previously done in the game.
1 -
I did the gens far away and didn’t have sb. It happens to me a lot so I got annoyed and decided that I wasn’t gonna play into their trap this time.
0 -
@GrootDude So instead you folded them arms, stamped them feet and pouted and put yourself into a stand off?
Sorry dude, I don't think we will agree here - personally I think you are shooting yourself in the foot with your decision making and the killer standing in front of an open hatch is a scrub.
1 -
My objective is to survive, it had happened to me several games in a row so of course I’d get annoyed.
0 -
@GrootDude I don't doubt how annoying it would be and I can sense the frustration. Your objective is always to survive and a fundamental objective of the game is to complete gens and open an exit gate. I feel this could be achieved in your situation albeit difficult.
2 -
LMAO.
Its hilarious how you are making this out to all be The Spirit's fault, that somehow they were playing unfairly or poorly because they decided to not close hatch and camp it instead. They killed 3 of your teammates and since you 3 genned yourself you had a tantrum about how she isn't giving you the hatch or just closing it and you REFUSE to accept that you have put yourself in a terrible situation so instead you waste both your time and the Spirits and, more than likely, caused them to become frustrated and annoyed causing them to make a mistake and you get out.
You got rewarded for your perseverance, and for the Spirit being stubborn, but this was a "standoff" created because you refused to do gens because you "might have gotten caught". The Killer refused to close the hatch, but that isn't what created this standoff. What did was you getting upset and thinking that dying/getting caught while doing a gen, or running to the hatch, is somehow worse than spending 30 minutes where both of you are basically doing nothing.
I would never sit on Hatch, if I played Killer, but I also wouldn't spend this amount of time complaining about the Killer not closing Hatch. Is getting hooked/killed really that bad for some of you?
The Spirit got nothing out of sitting on the Hatch but this didn't stop you from earning BP. BP is the only thing that actually matters in the end, living gives you some but many of you (the Spirit especially) are really bad at realizing that getting a match over with is better than being stubborn and spending too long on getting the outcome you want. Work a gen, get BP and end the damn match instead of ... this. You'll earn BP and get into the next match more quickly to earn more BP.
@SunderMun This was, about, 50% the Killer's "fault". More it was the way the OP decided to react to The Spirit's decision that is at fault here. ?

I never said the killer was 100% at fault, I literally said that it takes two players for this to happen to someone else. Also, like I said earlier, only one gen got done and it got done while I was chased and the chase started a few seconds after the match started. With how far you’re in this thread, You should’ve seen all of the things I said above unless you’re choosing to ignore it.

Just curious - If only one gen got done, then why do you only have three left?
0 -
Oops, I meant only one gen got done before the hatch was available.
0 -
Sorry @GrootDude Just trying to confirm for my own head more than anything, once the gen was done and hatch available, your entire team dead, You had like 6 other gens to complete, why didn't you do some of the riskier ones by the hatch first and moved outward? #justcurious
0 -
I was hoping that if I did a safer one she’d close it, that way I’d have time to position myself.
0 -
Unlucky
1 -
Do gens. If the killer is standing on the hatch then they are not watching gens. I'm not trying to defend killers who wait or survivors who wait but this cannot be called a "hostage game" because you still have an objective you can complete.
0 -
You also did with the original hatch, was it fine?
0 -
You gotta let those scrubs know without a doubt what deliberate looks like
0 -
huh...
the only time i as a killer wait on the hatch would be as invisible wraith... otherwise i just close it and patrol the gates - sitting there doing nothing is boring as hell.
plus, if you miss the survivor and they get too close they just escape right under your nose, which would just be embarassing at that point.
1 -
Never said it was fine, I even said I won't defend anyone who does it but to say the match was "held hostage" isn't correct you can do your other objective just like with old hatch.
0 -
Nah . I had a came where a Billy stood on hatch, and I simply opened a gate while he stood there. In your instance if the gens were close to the hatch thats more reason to work on then. Because. She leaves hatch-hits you and gives a speed boost to hatch. If she didn't, and gives you the chance to repair however many gens you need. And escape for free bevause the killer its dumb. Hatchb standoff is not a thing .
1 -
Simple af. Hatch standoff isn't a thing anymore
2 -
Do the generators in the killers face then? Either they leave the Hatch, give you a free boost assuming your healthy and you escape or you do the gens and escape via doors????
0 -
Oh boy... @GrootDude I can tell by this comment section alone that you are getting hate for this lol.
You just couldn't think of a strategy at the time. Which is understandable.
No need for hate on you for it
1 -
I think hate is a fairly strong word and I don't see that myself, I see a bunch of people trying to see his perspective but I think the common feeling is he played like a potato and then complained about it. We all do it and we will all continue to do it - so now we move on to pastures new
