Rescind option, rather than DC?
I know harsher dc punishments are coming but an option to surrender would be really nice to. You lose pips, but keep your bp and lose.

I like this idea. It would be nice if paired with the DC punishments, always best to have both carrot and stick.

Yes indeed.

Isn't that just the same as letting the Killer sacrifice you, but faster?

Well don't get sacrificed.

That's not my point.
Letting the Killer kill you is almost the same as disconnecting, and lots do view it as a way to avoid hitting that disconnect threshold.
This would give DC-threshold abusers another way to avoid that threshold: Even if you put a limit of 1 surrender per day, it would add to the amount of ways to allow disconnects instead of reducing them as much as possible.
Y'know, you disconnected twice today, so that's your limit, but this game has an Iridescent Head or smthn, so you use the surrender you saved.

I think a lot of people miss the point of DC's and hook suicides. It's kind of like a little league baseball game. If the score is 20-0 in the third inning, are they going to play 6 more innings or just call the game and accept the loss? DC'ing or suiciding on hook is accepting the loss. Unfortunately there was no coach running the survivor team and the rest of the team was not part of that decision.
If you are playing a game and there are 0 gens done and there have been 5 hooks, it's highly unlikely 5 gens will be fired off. The game is a loss.
If you are only concerned with "winning" and your idea of "winning" is firing off 5 gens and escaping, then yes, to continue is a loss. For some, "winning" isn't escaping. For some, "winning" is getting max BP. Maybe in those circumstances getting a lot of BP is not going to happen, but some people want to make the best of a bad situation and get all the BP they can before they die. Especially if a BPS or good points offering was played. If it's a killer that DC's, it's really no harm, no foul because the survivor keeps their stuff and blood points. The killer is the only one that loses. If a killer DC's, just move on to the next game. But when a survivor DC's that is not part of a 4 man SWF, it really screws over his team and it caps the killer on his points.
If it's a Iri head huntress, prayer bead spirit, a "forever Freddy, etc... Some people want to make a statement that these game builds are not acceptable and punishment is to DC or suicide against these builds in protest. I get that, but unfortunately unless it is a 4 man SWF, you can't vote for the other players.
I would hate for the game to be limited to 4 man SWF game play, but that would be a good way to limit DC's and suicides because you have to be at least some what accountable in a SWF.
I think the real answer is just separate modes with real punishment. A casual mode where there are lax punishments for DC's and a competitive mode with stiff punishments. Hopefully crossplay will increase the player base enough that we can have separate modes and the more competitive people can have their games without dealing with DC's.
The game will never be truly balanced and the competitive people will accept that reality and just play it out whatever the outcome. The DC'rs can play in causal and when they feel it's a loss, they can DC, give them a 10 minute time out and everyone moves on with their "casual" game play.
