Rin's dad = I'll be mad

One problem.
Her dad didn't get taken by the Entity.
1 -
Last problem lol? Writers can write that he did, and became a Survivor instead of a killer because Rin's hatred was greater. that way her story isn't missing the one thing that ignited it in the first place... writing dude, gotta think creatively lol, we don't know for sure if he wasn't taken, he could be
0 -
why? spirit made an oath, unless she's a terrible negotiator she'll eventually be "mmkay i killed 100 survivors, where's dad?" or are we expected to believe she's just an idiot who makes death-defying pacts on a whim? once again, hilariously bad writing. characters shouldn't be stupid xD
0 -
Yeah and DBD writers stated that Rins dad didn't get taken. He got left behind.
1 -
really where? i didnt know this. like i know he was being groomed to be a killer and rin was taken instead because she was worthier, which just highlights the problem: the entity chose her, why would he suddenly change his mind, break her oath, all for an inferior choice? it would be the most nonsensical thing ever, it's not hard to grasp lol.
0 -
She made a deal with the entity to serve it and the entity promised revenge. It’s not that spirit is stupid, she was just dying on the ground, so her judgement was a little clouded. Also, the spirit wouldn’t cease to exist if she didn’t get revenge, because she’s in the entity’s realm, the entity controls EVERYTHING so it could just keep her alive as long as it wishes
0 -
the entity doesn't control "everything" from what i've learned from another poster. logically there would be no point in bringing in survivors/killers with free will if it wanted complete control. if it feeds off of hope, having complete control would make the trial runners disintersted because their fate is out of their hands; no belief, no hope to do anything. so i disagree with that assertion on those grounds: once again, doesn't make sense
and yeah, the spirit is motivated by hatred and revenge for the person that murdered her, that's what keeps her existing past-death. if her vengeance was denied forever, she'd have no reason to go on, so she'd be tossed away by the entity, so once again, it can't keep her alive as long as she wishes. she's the embodiment of hatred and vengeance lmao, you can't keep that in the dark

@Mc_Harty if thats true i didn't know that, i know he was passed over in exchange for rin, but that's just him not being hired for the role of killer, i don't think they asserted he would never be a survivor, maybe not even a playable one, but maybe he was dragged into the realm as an incentive for rin to keep killing. what is her motivation otherwise??
0 -
Wanting to kill her dad?
0 -
sorry for double post omg xD
0 -
@Mc_Harty yeah dude but i feel like we're going in circles, i already explained that lmao read back a few comments, i really don't see why you're arguing the point anymore, there's plenty of reasons to allow it from a narrative and logical perspective, just shake my hand instead of going back to sq 1 xD

The entity can control anything it wants, just because it chooses not doesn't mean it can’t. The spirit will likely never get revenge but I seriously doubt she’ll just disappear after a while of not getting it. The spirit’s mind seems completely broken and useless, only left for the 1 dimensional pursuit of revenge, leaving it really open to manipulation
0 -
no, auric cells are the building blocks of its realm, and survivors can use them to reshape things. stuff like the gold toolbox and hatch exist, sooooo nope. it can't control everything lol.
"only left for the 1 dimensional pursuit of revenge" yeah and if she doesn't get it she won't do anything lmao, it's not hard to understand, set up demands payoff from a narrative perspective lol, if they want to continue her story, she needs to meet her dad in some form again and face him
0 -
It's basically that, I mean. The entity did grab the wrong person after all.
The devs said they are "Reworking" the spirit since the lore for Rin didnt add up...She loved her father why would she want revenge in the first place. Why would a loving caring daughter ever wanted to hurt someone she knew was suffering from his debts. Betrayal you all might think but, she knew deep in his eyes he was broken at his point.
The point where he didn't even care, the moment Rin died she already gotten pulled in. The entities world works differently in the real world...So maybe just as she died. The entity knew they made a mistake and takes the father instead, pushing in to the survivors but fresh before her death.
This probably doesnt make since but eh...At least we knew that Rin got a job for dad, blah, blah, blah. Got betrayed all that. Pulled in. Dad kills himself maybe, got pulled in, Rin got yeeted out killers and bam.. (most dumbest thing I've ever typed in my life..Hope you didnt read this one...)

We also don’t know what her deal with the entity entailed. It could be she surrendered everything to it. The entity could easily just tease the spirit with hallucinations or memories to keep her rage alive, and her will to keep going for the sake of revenge alive.
0 -
lame deal lol (imo)
0 -
yeah sorry ideamind but that made no sense to me lol.
0 -
The entity can just be manipulating the spirit because the entity acted as if there was an escape for suriviors doing gens when there really isn't.
0 -
That’s What She Said

What if they perhaps make it for the first time two killers are trying to actually kill the other due to their motivations from the past. Going off of what you have said this would enrage the Rin more and motivate her to be a better killer in the trials. For Rin's father reason idk honestly other than he is mad that he didn't finish the job of killing Rin. (Even though the entity makes it so the killers can't meet one another in the realm at all apparently).
I know there is a lot of plot holes with this, but I feel this is a way they can do without ruining to much of the Spirit's lore.
0 -
This is what I'm thinking. Probably a big red herring. People should start checking other maps to see if other things are missing. I think it's going to become a theme hinting at the next killer.
0 -
well that's pointless
0 -
Welcome to hell. That's the point. There is no happy ending here. Bad writing? Maybe. The Dev's goal from the start? Yep.
0 -
We have been told the Entity feeds on Hope. I haven't seen anything claiming it feeds off other emotions.
Edit: Deleted my original answer and just left whats above because I'm not debating vague lore and personal opinions on why I would or wouldn't like a character.

Rin may be fueled for revenge but you have to consider the fact that even with what happened chances are she didn't just straight up kill everyone else out of spite. She was likely tortured for an eternity by the entity and enslaved into doing it's bidding, killers can't simply reject the entity because they no longer have a reason to do what they do. Most of them just become so scarred by all the torture that they do what the entity says, I'm pretty sure Rin works the exact same
0 -
I don't think so, personally I think when you become an onyro (what shes based off of) she's totally okay inflicting her suffering on others, based off japanse folklore or whatever. you say likely tortured, i say "she made an oath as she died no need for torture an i know it for a fact because thats what her lore says"
also yeah they can totally reject the entity, havent you ever heard of dc'ing or afking and getting entity displeased lol.... rins not human anymore, she's pure hatred and vengeance, so dont be like "oh she still has humanity" nah, I don't think so, she's pure vengeance
0 -
Thanks for nothing... sorry I'm just trying to be constructively critical, try to think of what could be better instead of "yeah it sucks"... like no, don't be satisfied with that lmao. think harder.
every great story needs conflict. a goal. the goal of the entity's realm is just "suffer mwahahaha" sounds like an edgy kid wrote it trying to be dark. They should spread rumours that one survivor actualyl escaped (vigo? benedict? who?) that would at least be interesting, if we know from a meta-perspective it's hopeless the story will stagnate and be absolutely (as i said) pointless

How am I supposed to think harder when the Devs have made what I and numerous others have been telling you clear for the last three years? What do you want us to do? Write our own version of the story and just ignore whatever the Devs put out. If you don't like the fundamental lore of the game, too bad. That's the way the cookie crumbles. I like the lore. I like the eternal hellscape of the Entity. I like it and I know many, many, many others do to. Sorry to say you're the outlier, bud.
0 -
dude i just met you today what do you mean you've been telling me this for 3 years lol
also how can you say "i like the lore" when you just said "bad writing? maybe"... lmao. No consistency with you. very hard to talk to.
i'm here for a creative discussion, not have someone say "it sucks, get used to it, cookies crumble" like no, let's challenge ourselves here. Don't say "im the outlier" i feel like that's arrogant lol, i'm just expressing my opinion, why you tryin to turn this into a poparity contest or something? smh. maybe your right, i feel like ti has been 3 years of arguing with a brick wall cause you are exhausting lol

honestly im so on board with what you're saying realistically im over the whole rin thing. we got her we got her survivor already im hoping they're going to just nerf her and the new chapter has nothing to do with her. but knowing the backlash everyone who whines for original killers is going to make begging for it regardless of how stupid it is, we'll probably end up getting it. i personally only get excited for licensed chapters just my thing its what keeps the game exciting for me. guess we get 2 licenses this year and another whole year of unlicensed crap.
1 -
Three years of the game existing, three years of the DEVS making CLEAR what WE have been saying to YOU in the last DAY. Why did you assume I meant talking for three years? You can also like bad writing, fam. Ever see "The Room"? If you keep treating my truthisms as attacks, there is no point to continuing this. Mellow out and understand that your way of viewing the story of the game isn't the same as the Devs.

In Japan, to get rid of a vengeful spirit you need to resolve what created them in the first place. Having Spirit get revenge on her father would free Spirit and allow her to pass on in peace.
This gives the Devs the ability to delete her and make survivors happy. In her place, her father with a much weaker ability.

Deserved? Edgy girl? What? She was a school girl in Japan. In financial Crisis; what are you even Babbling about?
3 -
That implies that the Entity snatched up Rin as a survivor, then she managed to escape its realm. Thats really hard to believe, especially considering that she'd act like nothing happened once she returned.
Conversely, it makes more sense as to why the Entitiy would choose her over her father- she'd know exactly how to call out to the Entity and become a killer.

They wouldn't make it so obvious after the last three chapters were figured out and they have stated that they have been discussing this in there meetings to prevent it happening! Hopefully it is a red herring
If it's the theme for a new map variation then fair enough! I just hope we are all wrong and actually get a surprise! Although I could ignore the leaks but that is a challenge!

Dude don't say ######### like that the original characters made the game what it is today but Ilike the licensed character's to and when the original character's come we need the perks that come along with them for the every changing meta's , the only bad original characters they've made is Clown and Legion I'm just not really big fans of these characters but other people love them I like the diversity of Legion but he was so much better the way he was the slow vault is annoying and if he inflicts deep wound survivor's should bleed out pretty quick. Actually clown's perks are the most beneficial thing about and there meta so I mean because you don't like the character don't mean you have to ruin it for everyone else who likes licenses you dick are you trying to get them to stop licensed character's?

Let's be honest, they're likely advertising a Spirit rework/overhaul.
0 -
There's obviously multiple dimensions in the Dead by Daylight universe (as evidenced by Bill being from a world that was ravaged by an Infection in 2008, while several other characters are from the modern day - Feng is explicitly stated to have played in a 2016 video game tournament).
This means its theoretically possible for the Entity to grab a pre-murdered Rin from an alternate dimension to the one we have as the Spirit.

When YOU randomly CAPITOLIZE words it makes me think youre CRAZY. dude relax, i didn't read your comment, but if im annoying you sorry, please dont be upset, i honestly dont know how i come across but i dont want to antagonzie you.
edit: okay so i did read your comment. rude. don't say " what I and numerous others have been telling you clear for the last three years?" and then later say "Why did you assume I meant talking for three years?" dude your communication skills are garbo if you don't see what you did wrong there lol. easy miscommunication no harm done.
0 -
"How am I supposed to think harder when the Devs have made what I and numerous others have been telling you clear for the last three years?" Don't criticize my communication skills when you have trouble reading a sentence that is functionally crystal clear.

Agreed. Nothing would destroy the lore harder than that.

Im gonna boop your snoot 3: ?
0 -
I don't take kindly to the boop cultists.

The Entity has been confirmed to pull people from multiple time periods adn timelines. Getting a pre-murder and post-murder Rin isn't beyond its ability, especially if it thought the trauma survivor Rin would go through having to escape her father (or her own twisted self) would help nourish and entertain it more.
0 -
i hear its like a japanese ghost that wants to hurt others. apparently it helped inspire rin? somebody else told me about them, i can't do much else other than point you to the wikipedia page sorry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onry%C5%8D
1 -
ive got conflicting reports. is it hope that "nourishes"? Or fear? panic, sadness, only negative emotions are tasty or something? hope isn't negative though, im so unclear on the entity, seems to conflict with itself lol

Devs called David an a-hole on stream beforeI believe

he's an occasional "debt-collector" apparently, and his halloween outfit implies he's not a good guy
but he has WGLF (we're gonna live forever) and it says "your few friends deserve the best protection" so he probably has a heart of gold
