I cannot hear Survivors unless they're injured and/or healing

I doubt it's just me but I notice a lot of the more known Killer streamers seem more adept at finding Survivors. I assume that they're using high-end headsets and that clues them in just a little bit better to where they are. I've tried using a headset, but it's not 5.1, and I've noticed no difference.

Often, the only time I'll hear them is when I pick someone up and they immediately try to run behind me and body block or reach a pallet.

And don't say "Oh, just equip Stridor."

If you have a good enough headset, you can hear things like footsteps and their idle breathing.
I'd advice you to enable the "Loudness Equalization" enhancer on your sound device as it increases low sound to a more audible level.

I'll give it a shot. We'll see what happens.

Edit: I tried it and noticed no difference but I didn't use a headset.

If you want to hear things like breathing and footsteps, you really do need a decent headset. I'm not talking about a $300 monstrosity, but something that actually covers your ears and has decent sound quality helps a LOT.

YOu need to turn up the volume. MAke DBD so loud that you can barely take the chase music. This is the kind of volume where you can hear footsteps or breathing of survivors.
Personally I dont use that volume level because I like not to be deaf

My $200 monstrosity is excellent, however I still cant hear those sounds in DBD

Loudness equalization helps, but your previous post was correct... you won't hear much unless you put the volume to uncomfortable levels.

Personally, I just get the sound as good as I can without blowing out my eardrums. Then I sit in Discord and talk with friends playing other games, so I don't hear anything anyway.

I actually wear a 25€ one and hear pretty much everything. You just need a good 7.1 (if possible real, if not, virtual) headset in order to be decently efficient. Tho I suppose a 300$ one would do a better job, obviously.

Headphones help so much! I rarely use them because how physically restrictive they are but I know there are so many sounds that my tv just doesn’t make very distinct unless I plug those babies in. Haha

I just use some skull candy earbuds and they work wonderfully. I think I bought a $20-30 pair though. The ones that have that microphone which is also a pause/play button.

I never understood why people bothered with Stridor until I got them.

What helped me was playing KYF and having my friends move around or get close in different ways and ranges. The sounds are there but you have to know what you're listening for before you can pick it out of the ambient noise.
