Why don't I see enough people using spine chill?
Spine chill is a great perk for survivors that alerts you when the killers looking in your direction. This will let you know of a few things when playing
- The killer is coming to you
- The killer has spotted you
- It tells you if there hook camping (Standing well away from hook but still watching from afar normally used by Michael myers, The pig, ghostface and wraith)
I've saved myself and teammates when healing a lot recently because of this but too many people stand around or follow to only get hit or downed because there not using it. The speed/luck boost you get can help as well when a generator is about to be done and spine chill lights up.
It's a great perk and normally use it with bond, balanced landing and whatever comes to mind. I only wish people would use this perk more as it's really helpful but i'm not gonna tell people what to use and our playstyles might be different to others.

Because people like to complain over using the best counter to stealth killers and Spirit, who everyone is complaining has no counterplay.

I think it's because everyone is insane and not using THE BEST SURVIVOR PERK IN THE GAME.

Spine chill has always been a very niche with a lot of Survivors... and most of the time gets overshadowed by other meta perks like Dead Hard, Adrenaline, DS, Balanced Landing, Self Care, etc.
It's not surprising that hardly anyone uses this perk in Red Ranks... since most Survivors stay within the meta in Red Ranks and sometimes in the other ranks as well. Spine Chill is actually a fairly decent to great perk when you're clutching a Exit Gate opening or generator finish.
Perhaps it doesn't immediately give benefits like the meta perks do... so that's why it's hardly used.

I think many survivors believe Spine Chill is overrated.
If you're a god tier looper, then yeah it probably is.

It's more-so cause of the meta tbh.

I'm one of the few survivors who uses Spine Chill regularly, and I can safely say Spine Chill doesn't help much against a Spirit.
You can avoid the initial encounter, but after that you're on your own. Spine Chill won't save you.

Spine Chill is a meta perk. I think a lot of survivors watch survivor-main steamers and they notice that these guys don't use Spine Chill much (because they're god loopers, so they don't need it).

In comparison to the rest of the meta perks it's fairly niche, that's why it's used a lot less than the others.
It doesn't give immediate benefits like Adrenaline, Dead Hard, Balanced Landing, Sprint Burst, Self Care, etc do... It only gives benefits if the Killer is looking in your direction... so if say they get to you right when you're starting on a gate or a generator... than it's not useful until they get off you.
That doesn't mean it's useless, far from it, it just isn't above the most used meta perks. It's only a detection perk after all.

It's a niche perk because a lot of people don't understand its value. Many of these survivor players are casuals and they get a lot of their info from twitch streamers, most of whom don't use the perk.
If we're talking about the most meta perks, then I would argue those perks are DS and BT. The third perk slot is usually dedicated to an exhaustion perk. The fourth perk is basically the free slot.

Most meta builds revolve around BT, Balanced Landing/Sprint Burst/Dead Hard, Self Care/Adrenaline, and DS/Iron Will/We'll Make It. (Insert other meta perks I didn't list. A few are based on opinion also...)
It's true that a lot of people don't know Spine chills real worth, but that's kind of what it boils down it... they don't know or they don't think it's worth using over the perks above.

Yep, that's what I said. People don't use Spine Chill because they don't recognize its value.
Which is rather unfortunate. Casual players would benefit more from Spine Chill than perks like Adrenaline or Iron Will.

Right, but it is how it is I suppose.

Weird. Ever since my first game using it ever since. It at least gives me time for an escape if i gotta run

It's good even if you are really good at loops because you can get a head start in a chase via spine chill. Start running once you see spine chill is up and your sure it won't go out and you can cover some distance and already start wasting a ton of the killers time at the start. As well as being good against spirit and stealth killers. A lot of people think it's trash though for some reason :/

Yeah. Stealth killers are useless with spine chill unless its the pig then they can ambush and get a hit on you

Counterpicking is not counterplaying to be fair. You cannot argue Spine Chill is counterplay. It's counterpicking, and you're blindly counterpicking at that.
