Mori's should be base kit

Now now, hear me out. I'm specifically referring to the Cypress Mori that allows you to kill the last survivor in a trial. I think having this as base kit could help alleviate a lot of issues regarding pipping, having a rewarding 4k experience, and overall fun in general. If Mori's were reworked to be removed as offerings, and instead added as a base kit ability, there would be no need to punish the player for using a Mori by deducting points, but instead could award points for the inherently required 4k. For example, a decent bit of games at high ranks can 4k, but because you did it so fast, or there were too many DCs, you could depip. Under this system you could set it up so that getting the Mori 4k would start the pip baseline at 0 rather than -1, making pipping easier, and preventing going -1 for 4king. Beyond that, having the Mori far more accessible than before makes it a much more pronounced feature than it currently is and even opens up the doors to customizeable mori animations that you could buy for Auric cells.

Ngl, I think it's just a good thing all around, thoughts?

This is an idea I can get behind

As a base kit item it would then depend on the killer if they wished to Mori the last survivor or let them escape (dropped at hatch for example). I suppose given the knowledge that they can still get to Mori someone at the end of the match might lead to less camping and tunneling earlier on?

If it's the cypress Mori, then yes. I agree, because it doesn't matter what phase the last standing survivor is in- Once they are put in a hook they are put into their state and instantly die.

Except you're not always dead when you're the last survivor. There are multiple perks available for a survivor that, just because they're downed and the last survivor, will not mean they're doomed.

To implement this idea is to render all those perks null and void and destroy builds meant to counter slugging, which is widely considered to be extremely unfun.

So, I don't really understand this argument. The conditions of a Cypress Mori is to be the last survivor alive, meaning if you're downed in such a state, in almost every circumstance the game is over with you dying aside from the killer having mercy. The only perks that would be nullified from this would be flip flop, boil over, and very rarely decisive. Unbreakable & anti-slugging perks (aside from flip flop) would function the exact same way as without Cypress Mori base kit. It also doesn't really make slugging any stronger or weaker than as is, all in all the suggested change would just make it so that instead of being hooked and dying instantly, you get Mori'd instead.

    I'm fine with Cypress

Yeha why not? Nobody uses Cypress Moris anyway, and it's just cosmetic with no impact on gameplay.

  • Honestly I don't see why not make it so you can Mori the person instead of putting them on their last hook anytime you want- and in return remove Mori's from the game entirely.

I mean at that stage they are going to die anyways; unless they have like DS and just off hook- there could probably be an exception of some kind for that; but otherwise yeah.

The Mori takes about the same amount of time as picking them up and hooking them almost; and it costs them bloodpoints for not sacrificing to the entity- but it lets you actually be a killer and honestly it makes more sense that these bloodthirsty beings would all be sorta hard to control.

Only like one in maybe 50 games will I pick someone up on their last hook and something stops me from sacrificing them so it wouldn't change much of anything at all- while removing the Mori's that everyone complains about in the process.

Very nice idea! This yellow mori in fact is trash, nobady uses it, so devs can remove it and this idea of make it in base kit is wonderful, making the last execution (if the last survivor not escape) more fast and spectacular. But devs also knows from community feedback they have to balance ebony mori and key, making this yellow mori change acceptable.

As long as ebony is removed, i have nothing against this.

Not necessarily. The survivor could have DS, or could wiggle out if close to no hooks.

So this would still have an impact on gameplay, however I think I'd be all for it. The animations should be used more frequently in common gameplay without just being OP offerings.

As someone who is somewhat commonly the last person alive without getting hooked (I'd say roughly 10-15% of my games, which is WAY more common than it should be), this idea is pretty unfun. I don't even get a chance to yeet myself off the hook if I'm the last one.

The only real advantage that I see this is just speeding up the process 99/100 games. And while admittedly, this could be helpful, I don't see it feeling rewarding.

IF I had already been hooked once, then sure. Mori me at the endgame. As long as I'm on 2nd/final hook, and all 3 other players are already dead, it'll speed things up for me.

Could we at least add the condition that all the other survivors have to be dead before I go down? Y'know, to avoid the obvious slug for the 4k.

Mori as a normal base power of the killer? Are you joking? That would cause a lot of trouble, many salty Survs, and many Killers who get so annoying bcs of they play-style to this ability... that would be the end of dead by daylight.

Special Stuff should stay as an offering. It's good enough the way it is.

I did read the whole thing, and since the last survivor is dead anyway it should stay as it is now, mori is just annoying and killer mains just want easy moris at all times.

You read the title and that's all, right? Even if you didn't, how is this contributing too the conversation in any meaningful way?

As for OP, I think it's a cool idea, except for the custom Mori animations for Auric cells. The game is already super greedy with the Battlepass, Cosmetics, and DLC, so having more things you need too pay for is just a bad thing.

And Survivor mains want free escapes and ez genrush all the time. Stop generalizing, stop using us vs them mentality. Play Killer sometime, 50/50 players have the best opinions.

As an addition or suggestion, they could be a currency for playing well.

    • Finish a trial with 4k once = yellow mori
    • Finish a trial with 4k, while holding a yellow mori = yellow mori becomes green
    • Finish a trial with 4k, while holding a green mori = green mori becomes pink

The currency is only used when a mori animation has completed, but it would be accessible at any time in a trial. So if a killer decides in the middle of a match he would like to use it, he can. After the mori has been used up, the currency resets.

Although, I would want to have all of my bloodpoints refunded that I've spent on Mori's I won't be able to use anymore, unless they would just let us keep those until they're gone.

mmmm no. Because moris are merely a treat from the killer to the entity. It’s clear the Entity doesn’t like the killers slashing the survivors to death. The Entity WANTS the hooks, so I don’t think it would just let them kill the last survivor.

Plus, the animations are pretty cool and shouldn’t be given to you by default.

I would agree but I have escaped off of the killer's back as the last survivor too many times. I also don't really think it would alleviate the hatch camping/slugging aspect of achieving a 4k, which is by far one of my least favorite parts of this game.

wanting too spend more money on micro transactions in a 20-30$ game, with over 100$ of DLC, with a 10$ battle pass + cosmetics for something that should be base is a Walnut brain take.

Stop being sassy and contribute too the discussion.

You do realize you can't "yeet yourself off a hook" if you're last alive it instantly kills you once hooked

"I don't even geta chance to yeet myself off the hook if I'm the last one"

First paragraph, last sentence. I am well aware, because I specifically made mention how it's usually my first hook. That's what the WHOLE first paragraph was about.
