Nice to see that they didn't take any feedback for the Archive Challenges

Some of these challenges are crazy and will require nothing but RNG or farming. Things like

"No One Escapes the Endgame" Sacrifice 2 survivors during EGC with NOED in one trial.

"Last Minute Hero" Unhook 2 survivors during EGC in one trial. Must unhook them safely.

These challenges are crazy. It's already rare enough to get a single hook/unhook in EGC, asking for 2 is going to require farming. These challenges are specifically the ones we said we didn't want. The bullshit ones that are either going to take crazy amounts of luck or farming. The Shard count doesn't even increase, meaning it's getting harder for less and less reward. Tome 4 is going to be downright stupid.

We can only hope that they'll look at all the data and feedback after the completion of the first rift, and then look at how many people buy the next battlepass. I think it will take months before they will consider any changes, for all we know the people who are complaining are the minority and that people are still going to be buying the battlepass etc.

Imagine expecting to pay only once for the same battle pass.

Those killer ones are super easy? (OP had two listed when I started writing)

LMH just takes time. The only remotely hard part about it is that everyone is after it at once. But if you play the game normally, hook swapping during EGC happens a lot. That one will obviously take more than one or even more than a few games, but it's not going to take weeks, which is the amount time you have to do it.

Luckily I already completed the rift so these challenges only offer bloodpoints to me. No big deal to skip them :)

I see your point, but I still feel like if greed were really their main motivator there are a lot of opportunities they missed. The Rift is pretty good in some ways compared to other battlepass systems.

For one thing, most battlepass premium tracks contain xp boosters which help you progress along the track faster. This incentivises customers to buy the premium pass early, before they even know if they'll be able to finish it, because the sooner they get the xp boosters, the less work they have to do. A system like the Rift which allows players to progress along the free track and buy premium whenever they want without disadvantage strikes me as pretty customer-friendly.

The smartest and most economical way to go about the Rift is to see how much progress you can make within the time frame, and then buy the premium pass if you decide it's worth it. The fact that such a cautious, frugal approach is enabled and even implicitly encouraged by the way the system is designed, to me, says a lot.

Yes, naturally they will use some marketing tactics such as time limitations and "get all your money back if you complete the track!" to encourage people to invest in the pass. That's just business. But I don't think it's fair to say that greed is their sole motivation here, or that they're trying to deceive their customers or "sucker" them into spending their money unwisely.

Can we hold off on releasing increasingly difficult tasks until you fix the DC issue and the game as a whole? My first game and a Survivor is disconnected in the loading screen. This is definitely looking like the first Tome I might not be able to fully completed. Hopefully I can at least get to the end.

If you think these are bad, just wait til you see the fourth tome challenges. I think they were all drunk or high when they came up with those.

Its like that in every game. You can tell lifetime storys as feedback, nothing will happen, thus the feedback of hundreds was in unison, that many of these challenges arent good for game health.

Screw the archives. It's a useless paywall to pay off the greed on the devs minds.

I'd rather wait till everything is on the store if they cant simply take feedback due to their greed.

That's not hard. You see hook tradeoffs happen all the time in EGC when the gate is open. Killer hooks and camps a surv. Other surv comes to save them, succeed, but gets hooked in the process, repeat until ome of them dies and the other 3 escape.

They are called challenges for a reason.

I mean what kind of ‘challenges’ do you really expect?

    Did Tome 3 drop?

What I mean by a test run is not in the sense that the PTB archives were a test, but in the sense that this is the first time they've done it, and they're doing it in a way that they think will work, but they're probably going to see how it goes the first time around and then make any adjustments they feel are necessary for the next Rift.

The Rift was intentionally built so that you could wait until the last second to spend money on, it if you so choose, without losing anything. There were no incentives to buy the pass earlier rather than later. So I apologise if this sounds unkind, but if you're having second thoughts you probably should have waited to invest money into it until you had seen all the content and were sure that the premium pass was a worthwhile investment for you.

    @Fibijean

Okay, I'll be patient and try these when I get to them. I still don't think they're great as they'll mess with people's perceptions of the game and how to play. It's something I worry about ruining the game- which I don't want. I appreciate your patience, but unlike so many issues, I do sometimes see this one as a bit of a critical concern of the community.

That's absolutely fair enough. Thank you for being so kind and reasonable in your response. I can definitely understand your concerns, I just think that they would be more compelling coming from the point of view of someone who has made a solid attempt at completing the challenges and can speak from a place of experience.

'It's okay guys they'll fix it, they have listened to our feedback, they said its placeholders, they said it can be finished with just 1 hour a day, its challenges lol it wont ruin the games stop being butthurt about it and won't consist of people suicide rush hooks and dying if they got 1-2unhooks'.

When will this community learn, who knows at this point?

Buying the "battlepass" has nothing to do with these challenges being too random and repetitive. Im done with the rift which is supposed to be the harder one to complete but cant enjoy the lore which should've been accessible to everyone

I'm sad about this as well. It seems the only way to get the rewards is not only to buy the Pass, but to buy levels as well. I've been grinding away and hardly making progress. The Tier IV set scares me, and the III challenges are the same rewards as 1 but the challenges are harder (of course, we expected that).

The best challenges are the ones that come naturally, like 15 gens, hooks, unhooks, heals, etc. I know people find those tedious but at least they're stable and not up to RNG. I occasionally miss chances because someone else gets the thing I need, and now I have to start all over in another match.

I didn't read about the Archives so I don't know if the lore is going away after, or if we miss our chance, or what, but I adore Claudette and I want to fill that segment and earn all her rewards in the Horror Pass (or whatever it's called, should be scary-themed, right?)

To reiterate, Challenges are Fun! I like having them, and having goals to work toward, and excuses to use perks I don't normally take, but they can also be aggravating and the Fear Of Missing Out a lot of games take advantage of is kind of a cramp in the festivities of... y'know, killing and surviving a nightmare. If that makes sense.

It's silly to think they'd change anything for the first rift. If the second rift is just as bad then yeah it's a problem.

Yup, I'm not going premium again because a) the challenges are just craptastic b) I can't play as much as I used to due to commitments.
