Hotfix Matchmaking Before Anything Else. It's TOO Broken Now.

So, you load into a survivor game because you're doing some archives. Get into a full lobby. Nice. 2 People immediately leave. Not uncommon, but whatever. Check phone for messages and get back to game. Full lobby again. Timer goes off and we load into a match.

Killer finds you almost immediately. Ok, no biggie. Happens quite a bit and I can get out of this.

Game goes on, press button to throw down a pallet and it doesn't. Get downed and hooked. Been here 100+ times. Other survivors are a bit late to the save, but they get me before struggle.

Run away and killer is on an intercept course. Hits rescuer and chases them for a bit. Return attention to me. Climb through garage window and get downed. ThoughtI'dClearedThat.gif Again, been here 100+ times.

Killer chases other survivor and I crawl to a Default Nea. She attempts to heal me, but misses 2 skill checks. Killer is coming back, as I get up. Feeling like I'm about to get sandbagged by a bad survivor, I used my Sprint Burst to try and slip past the killer. They down me, and probably rightfully so.

Second hook, and I go into struggle. One person sitting on a generator, and 2 getting chased. Get left to die. AreYouKiddingMe.jpeg.

Load out of game, which ends within another 30 seconds. Sees ranks. Dies inside.

Say what you will about SWF, or certain perks, but right now this is a WAY bigger issue than anything else in the game. I have no doubt that this will get moved to some sort of bug report, but I've sent it into General Discussions so as many people can see this and the word can get around.

BHVR, take a lesson from the team behind Rainbow 6: Siege, and have an "Operation Health" where you have an entire season to scour and clean up the game. Just spend a bit of time to make it better, and I'm sure that a vast majority of the community will be happy to wait for content if better game health is offered instead.

Unfortunately, that is working as intended. Those rank 20s were probably playing with the rank 7 survivor and the game can match you with them after the recent matchmaking changes.

For example, if you are in a swf group with rank 20 teammates as a rank 1 survivor, the game will search for a rank 1 killer.

If you're first hook then the chances of you bowing out of the game with minimal BP to your name increases exponentially.

Having a game like this is part of the game and what the game is telling you and what you're supposed to accept is that everyone elses time is more important than yours. Because while everyone else is getting points for hooks/unhooks/heals your just there to be used for that.

It works as intended, you were certainly paired with the highest rank of an SWF party.

Maybe the same restriction as matchmaking should apply for inviting friends (+- 6 lvls)

Works as intended. Sorry, new Survivor players are not allowed to have a enjoyable game experience when playing with Friends, same goes for random Survivors who are in the same Lobby.

That hilarious feeling when you realize there's no end to how SWF manage to screw solo q survivors 🤣

At least survivors know it and have a choice, unlike killers had when they paird low rank killers vs that rank 20 survivor with his 3 red rank pals.

It should be like other games, outside of a full four stack, the game should enforce some limits on the rank disparity between teammates. So if your rank 20 and want to play with the rank 1 friend, you can do so but you have to find two other players before you MM. Otherwise your rank 1 friend can only play with people as low as rank 5, as an example. I think such a system would accomplish two goals, the first offering complete flexibility for people who want to play with very low rank or high rank friends. And two, it doesn't screw up solo and Duo queue players who may not want to play with a killer or teammates that are significantly vast in skill. Otherwise just re-implement the ability to see the skill rating in the lobby, I really don't think it's fair when you're in red Rank and another red person decides to bring two rank 20 friends.

Works as intended. Sorry, mid rank killer players don't have to go against SWF groups with high rank members and get bullied all game.

My sister moved away August last year, but we started playing DbD together soon after she left. She doesn’t play as much as I do, so she usually floats around Ranks 15-10 while I’m at Rank 1. We used to have a good time playing together, but the new matchmaking has basically driven her away from the game because it’s too frustrating for her to play with me at Rank 1. It really sucks because playing DbD used to be great bonding time, but it’s turned into such a problem, we’re searching for a new game to bond over. This is supposed to be a fun “party” type of game, but I guess killers are so oppressed that this game can’t be casual anymore.

Which also did not happen before. If they would do an Average, it would be nice, but they never intended to do this. Before, low Rank and high Rank Survivors in a SWF were paired with a low Rank Killer.

Thing is, the way it is right now, it does not prevent bullying at all. If somebody wants to bully low Rank Killers, they can do (or low Rank Survivors, Killers derank as well). I mean, it does not bother me, when I am playing with a friend, he is the same Rank as me. But another friend tried out DBD once, and might want to try it out again. But yeah, sorry - I cant play with him. Because he would go against Red Rank Killers without knowing anything of the game.

So I cannot help him getting to know DBD. I mean, I can get a new account so that he has easier games, but this would not be fair at all for low Rank Killers.

The current state is a solution - but by far not the best.

Ranks are gone from lobbies so you don't have a choice to avoid rank 20 teammates anymore.

I can agree on that one. We need a better solution for that problem.

I was the rank 7. My Xbox username is different to my DbD Forum name.

And I only every got paired with Red ranked killers when I played with my high purple and red ranked friends. Until now.

Regardless of this being an example matchmaking is still broken. I've been matched with rank 1s at rank 15 almost as often as been matched with players my rank.

Thats just a lie and after the update matchmaking is working perfectly. You play swf you get paired with a killer against highest rank in swf lobby. If you are rank 15 you wouldn't get a rank 1 killer unless you'd been waiting like 20 mins in q and at that point...don't you just want to play anyway. You're being dramatic maybe go play something else for a bit.

I agree, I think everything should be shelved until a working matchmaker and ranking system is developed. The way it is now, I don't think I am going to keep playing DBD much longer.

After like 30+ hard losses because I get almost nothing but red rank SWF who are obviously WAY better than me and way out of my rank with like 30 times my playtime....

I don't see the point in playing just to be some people's punching bag. I don't mind losing, but I go into a match knowing I already lost, like there is zero hope, so why even bother trying?

I think they are right man, I would just find a different game to play, I am about to the same at this rate. It's just a disappointing experience as a whole.

I think they should just revert the change to let high rank survivors play at their friends level again. The high rank survivors could just de-rank intentionally anyway, there is no real way to stop them from "bullying" lower rank killers, just like high rank killers can de-rank intentionally to bully newer survivors. At least this way swf is more fun AND solo survivor is more fun if they are matched with less high-rank killers.

Guys, matchmaking is not working at all. At least in central Europe. As a killer you always get much better survivors.

Im currently rank 9 as a killer and every other game I have 4 red ranks against me. If not red then purple + red. Nothing else. And it has been like that for 2 weeks now. For example just yesterday I was playing 5 - 10 killer games, all of which were just purple/red players, not even one green. One of these matches was 4 ranks 4 versus me- rank 9, nearly 10. And its always like that for me these days and as I have seen a lot of players in central Europe have this issue:( Its so frustrating to play like this. Most of these games are over in 5 minutes :( But thats another topic. I had to stop playing yesterday just because of it. Not fun at all.

The matchmaking has a limit of +- 6 ranks, so if you're rank 9 you may face rank 3 to 15 survivors. So it's working as intended, the problem is that you're almost purple... so maybe the killer/survivors ratio in red and purple makes "high green" killers like you pair with higher ranks survivors.

Thats almost true..but not entirely. You should see +,- 6 ranks rarely, only if there is no other option. But thats not happening. You dont see worse (or same) survivors at all. And better ones? In fact thats all you see. And it has been like that for the last 2 weeks (from the day matchmaking wasnt working).

Really, I almost never get lower (worse) ranks than me..they are ALWAYS better and always 3-6 plus. It definitely should be around your rank most of the time but its not. I get survivors of my rank or worse just once in a couple of days, maybe. Yesterday I played 5-7 killer games and the closest one was me 9, survivors 8,6,6,5. Not even one survivor (from yesterdays 20-28) was at my rank or at worse. And thats really just a cherry on top. The days before that were even worse.

But in reality I dont really care as much because I play mostly Oni and Spirit so I can manage to win most of the time anyway. But when I use Ghostface (e.g.) Im usually done pretty quickly..the game is over in 5,6 minutes.. so I would rather if the matchmaking was working as intended:) As TRULY intended.

I understand that there's a difference between theory and practice. The matchmaking is working, according to the theory, but it sucks when you get only strong opponents even if they're just 5 ranks above you, which is already huge.when they're 4 vs 1.

Too many factors are involved to let us figure out what's really happening. It depends on region, time, platform, rank...

I play 50/50 on PS4 in West EU and don't feel so bad about the MM. My games are never that unbalanced on either side.
