Finishing the rift seems impossible (burned out)
I'm tier 31 rn, working on the level 2 tome (this freaking dark sense 3 gens challenge is insane) and I doubt it's even possible to hit tier 70 even when I finish tome 4 (and let's be realistic here, the leaked tome 4 already showed it's gonna be a bullshit-show).
So, how can someone finish it with just 1 hour per day? I play like 2 hours per day and it's looking very bad. Devs lied to us or made a mistake: 1 hour per day won't get you even remotely close to tier 70.
Update: I finished tome level 4 and found myself at tier 50 now. No way I can reach 70. Well, not gonna buy your pass BHVR. This grind is disgusting.
I wasn't even playing alone. I let my sister playing aswell or went afk to farm XP. Do you want me to Play all day long every day?

Dark sense challenge is easy. You only need to touch the gen as it's finished. No need to FULLY repair them yourself.

For the Dark Sense challenge run Bond and Better Together. You'll know when people are doing generators and will be able to get people to come to the generator you are on. You don't have to bring it up from 0 to 100% by yourself, just be on the gen when it finishes.

I have plans to make a poll after the Rift ends to test exactly this. I noted down what my ingame hours were at before the Rift started, and I'm going to take note of my hours played when I complete it.
I'm hoping that with a large poll we can find out what proportion of people were able to finish the Rift and how long it took them, and then we'll have a better idea of just how accurate the 70-80 hour estimate was.

This wasn't about this specific challenge, I just mentioned it in brackets. It's more about the whole tier concept. Imo it's impossible for casuals and those who play just a little bit more than casuals (me).
1 -
I finished it some time ago.. but I play a lot every day. They made the third challenges easier so maybe the 4th ones wont be too bad?
Im not sure but for the dark sense one you might just have to be present when the gen gets completed
Good luck.
Finishing the rift will be difficult because they hope you will buy tiers

I would also like to mention that i completed the rift last week. Did all my challenges as well.
0 -
How much do you both per day on average?
1 -
Too much...
1 -
I have completed all 3 chapters without any real issue. The only one that really required a sweat/time was the NOED End Game challenge. That was pretty rough.
I completed the entire Rift progression within 30 days, and that was casual play. I'm not sure why people are having issues. Playing an hour a day is probably going to make it a lot slower, but that seems like more of personal issue than game/challenge design. The Dark Sense challenge is pretty simple, I completed it first try. I wish you luck on your journey though!

Well I'm sad now I didn't track how many hours it took me, I finished today with all three Tome levels fully done. There is no average playtime per day because I could play one day for 8 hours but next day 1 hour but it feels like it was way more then 80 hrs.
0 -
If you can even make a rough estimate, give or take 10 hours, that would probably still be helpful.
1 -
Im tier 70 already. Is not hard at all for me, just play at least 2h a day and do every possible challenge
0 -
You are behind what is expected. You can still do it, but it will be hard
0 -
I tried to do something similar in the polls. No idea how long it took me to do it IN GAME TIME, but I grinded the hell out of it and did it in 35 days.
0 -
8 hours per day is not 'casual play'
9 -
Finishing the rift is not impossible, but you do need a lot more than 70-80 hours.
I got it done last week just as I finished tier 3 of the archives, but I must have played at least 100 hours. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to check my hours on console.
1 -
Personal issue? Devs claimed that you can finish it by playing 1 hour per day. And I play 2 hours per day on average. No clue where you see that "personal issue", to me it looks like false advertising or a wrong calculation from bhvr.
2 -
Where did I mention I am playing 8 hours a day?
0 -
I'm still around tier 36 too, and there is only 28 days left. So i guess i'm not going to complete it
It's not like we're playing this game for living, we have our things to do.. so don't try to grind the rift.
It's lucky i didn't buy the rift pass
0 -
With impossible I was more likely referring to what devs told us (that 1 hour per day will be enough), you know what I mean?
0 -
Well...it's hard to finish the rift when the matchmaking takes forever. Funny is...I never had problem with finishing Fortnite Battlepass and currently I am not having problem finishing Apex Battle pass (lvl 89 currently - and I don't even play it as much as DBD).

I've hit a rough patch with Level 3, as soon as I equipped the 'Escape the trial 5 times' 3 days ago I have not escaped once! i'm currently at tier 50, I can't see myself getting to 70 at the rate I am now collecting rift fragments.
0 -
Ikr? To me it looks more likely that the devs want you to play 4+ hours per day. But we aren't streamers, we are just normal gamers.
Oh yeah I haven't bought it either and I'm so happy I decided to wait! For me there is no point to even consider buying the rift anymkde if I hardly finish half of it.
1 -
Its not impossible.
I finished the rift last week.
0 -
How much do you play per day?
0 -
If you take offense to the comment, that was not the intention. I was mostly saying your time restraint and troubles with some of the challenges might be a factor
0 -
Why should players with 1h per day finish the Rift in Time?
0 -
Because that's what the devs told us.

Quote?
0 -
That's a good question.
Anywhere from 1-5 hours I'd say. More if I feel up to it on weekends/days I have off.
I never said it didn't take time, I was just saying it wasn't impossible.

Well idk, I finished all killer challenges from tome level 2 and I'm currently hunting them survivor challenges down. I play normal. I don't throw a match just because of a challenge, I don't make it harder for my team mates. Maybe the intention behind these "challenges" is to play like a scumbag and sandbag your mates just to be efficient and fast? If yes, then I have to say we have a core issue with these challenges.

"Our goal for our first Tome and Rift is to base our completion targets on the average daily play time of 1 hour/user, provided by our internal data. Given this, completion of The Rift and all its rewards should take roughly 70 to 80 hours of gameplay, provided players accomplish Challenges from each role."
The above is a quote from the Welcome to the Archives post on the official website (https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/welcome-to-the-archives)

Agreed for casual players its extremly hard to get it done, plus if youre like my friend you may not have alot of time to complete it, luckily i play dbd everyday so my rift got done about 2 days ago (i did buy 15 teirs)

I can't pull out a quote from my head. If I remember correctly they said that in a stream/video about the riftpass (that information video aka advertising video).
Maybe someone else remembers more and can give you the direct source.

Maybe you got me wrong, let me clarify myself: yes, it is possible to finish the Rift pass if you play A LOT. but to me it seems impossible if you are a casual player and play like 1 hour per day om average. Look at me, I play around 2 hours on average and look where am I at.

I'm tier 45 or so, halfway of tome 3 (all killer's done, survivor's in progress... damn flashlight)
I doubt I'll make it to 70, but I don't care that much. Also I won't buy the battlepass.
Edit: playtime is ~2 hours almost everyday

Thank you for the quote, I wasn't able to recall the source :)

1h per day is the most optimal usage of game time which is not possible. If you count in queue times, spending bloodpoints, reading the fluff you unlock etc. then it is more like 2-3 hours it will take. But the main time consumer is definitely the queue time.
I finished the rift this week, so without the bonus from level 4. To finish level 2 and 3 I needed just one week each, where it is supposed to take two or three weeks. Normally I played 40 hours in 2 weeks, since the archives it somehow pushed me to 70 hours :) I did not note any hours, just noticed the "last 2 weeks" statistic from steam from time to time. That means I played roughly 5 hours per day. But that counts in several idle times where I kept the game open, took a break to eat something etc. So I guess 4 hours per day would be close to the real value.
Double the time that you actually need to finish the rift if you plan for full 70 days. So my "extra" playtime made up for the 4th level. 28 days left now? That means it took me around 40 days, which is 160 hours. Now just guessing, but I think level 4 contains only master challenges. 15 of them means 85 rift tokens in total. Now it depends on your main role and how much XP you earn, but roughly you could say you get 3600 XP per 2 hours. That means at least you could subtract about 19 hours from my time needed, assuming that I finish level 4 before it closes.
So 140 hours is about the double amount they said. Which is actually what I said is required because of blood points, fluff and queue time. 140 hours over 70 days of rift is pretty much 2 hours per day

I barelly play an hour a day so i'm pretty much screwed D:
3 -
But then you are definitely not the target, the rift is designed around. I think 1-2 hours a day is the whole player base average. Would be also bad if people like me or streamers finish the rift in 10 days or each level within one day and then sit there waiting for new stuff.
As it is just about cosmetics, I think it should be ok that not everyone finishes the rift
0 -
I myself have exactly as many tiers to go as there are days left. I havent finished tome 3 but i am close. I basically set me 'schedule' so that i average 1 tier a day. If i fall behind i grind a little more. I play almost every day but never thought i needed to finish it early.
Next archive, just make sure you do a tier a day and you will be fine.
0 -
I mean, I have 2 tiers of the rift left and the last tome isnt even released yet. You get tiers just by playing too.
0 -
I'm not gonna be able to finish it. It is WAYYYY too grindy.
I am at Tier 41 and I have played a ton, a lot more than I should. No way I can finish without buying tiers, I am super glad I waited to buy the pass.
1 -
It took me about 140 hours + level 1 and 2 challenges to get tier 70, so it's absolutely doable. Just not 1 hour per day.

I’m tier 51 right now and should finish it by the end of the season. I definitely don’t plan on buying future rift passes though cause these challenges don’t really add any “fun” to the game and I already have alot of cosmetics as it is.
The people who finished the rift and say they are “casual players” might be in denial cause it takes quite a bit of time.
4 -
Yeah i know i'm not complaining
I do hope i can do most of the challenges for those juicy juicy bloodpoints
0 -
@Pulsar depending on how much you got unlocked, the rift does not HAVE to be completed. If you want it for free, maybe. But if you pay money to get cosmetics anyway, then the rift is pretty cheap. Would just be bad if you can't finish a complete outfit in time. And doin't forget that you even might get back like 50% of your auric cells and see what you get for it. I don't get why so many talk about finishing the complete rift as it was mandatory.
@doitagain_ Don't mess up casual and average. Average is an actual fact. If you think the average player is not a casual player with 2 hours per day, that are 2 separate things
0 -
I second this post, now I know what to expect, there is no real reason for me to buy future passes, even if the next one does contain some cosmetics I like they already said that they would be appearing in the store at a later date anyway, and the charms are, meh, at best.
