Playing solo survivor is frustrating
I think I’m just going to play SWF from now on. I don’t understand why we can’t have more information in the HUD so that solo survivors get as much information as SWF. Until solos get more information in the HUD, the games balance will never be, well, balanced.
I don’t understand why I have to run certain perks just to get the information I’d get in SWF (bond, empathy, kindred)
At this point, I’d rather just play SWF. I know it’s unfair for killers, with the amount of information you can get, but I can’t stand playing solo with the matchmaking and lack of information.
The devs truly can’t balance the game until survivors are at an equal with each other. Hopefully something is done about this because I’d love to see buffs to killers as well, but if that were to ever happen, solo survivors need a buff too.

Solo isnt that frustrating. And SWF doesnt mean theyre sharing all informations they could.

My honest opinion is to add features like, base kindred, totem counter, and to see whenever someone is in a chase.
It’s nothing game breaking, but would help so damn much with helping solo survivors.

Swf isn't "unfair". It's in the game just like camping tunneling and fast vaulting. They do buff killers all the time. I'm surprised people still play solo, killer is so much better.

Rank 1 survive with friends bully killers. It’s not fun for killers. I’ve been playing basically only solo survivor for the past 2 months and it’s a lot more frustrating just not knowing basic things like previously stated that anyone in SWF know.

I mean, I’m playing a lot of killer lately at rank 1, so I know the struggles of killer too. Just wish that they can buff Solo without buffing SWF. Which is basically in game information that the SWF team already have.

My main problem with solo survivor is just how bad my teammates usually are. If I somehow manage to get decent teammates it's still enjoyable.

Same here but devs are operating at 6.9% brain capacity. Kindred basekit, totem counter, chase indicator would be so easy to implement but devs say nah.

I totally get that, I feel the same way. Sometimes you can outplay killers on your own, but having good teammates is also nice.
But it’s undeniable that solo survivor isn’t as fulfilling as SWF. It’s easier and more fun since
a) you’re playing with friends.
b) you are most likely to win because of how much easier it is when playing with others.

Solo Q has 0 appeal. Lack of information, teamed up with potatoe survivors who belong into green ranks at best versing actual real red rank killers who bring the strongest ######### into a match just in case they verse sweaty SWF group.
Playing solo is frustating and it's getting worse and worse with every buff killers or nerf survivors get. And don't get me wrong, these killer buffs are needed since SWF exists and SWF is still the power role, but solos need buffs aswell to keep up with all these changes.

Closing the gap between solos and SWF should be a top priority for BHVR.

I agree. It’s the one thing that will commence how they can balance killers and survivors in the right way.
Hopefully they address this after their holiday break.

I see a lot of people talking about buffing solos to SWF level but nobody mentioned what will happen to killers if they decide to implement such things in the game. Imagine playing with SWF every time you want to relax and play a normal game. They have to do something for killers, too in order to compensate for the solo buff
To the OP, I play solo and I know how frustrating it can be and I have managed to reach red ranks (rank 4) but we should also think of the other side when making such big changes to the game

Solo survivor isn't frustrating, but teammates can be. I love running Kindred just to get 1 or 2 hooked. Too often I'll find myself getting chased for a LONG time just to find out no gens are being pressured.

*playing agaisnt 4 man SWF is frustrating. find the issue. you just described the problem with dbd and the free perks swf gets, you didnt even realize about all the unbalance stuff the game has and you talked for free.
when u play agaisnt SWF specially 4 man is utterly unfair for the killer. but you dont care, you just care aobut playing 4 man SWF with 8 perks each survivor thats all you care about.

I completely agree! I think the minute the gap between both SWF and solo are fulfilled, that they should start focusing on killers and their states.
Trying to balance a game between people with comms and people who are alone is going to end up with more of a balance mess.

Before coming to a conclusion based on your “feelings” isn’t a healthy way to start a conversation. But as I’ve said, when solo survivors get buffed to be on par with SWF, killers will need some type of buffs and balance changes to compensate.

I already told you in my post what killer buffs will be needed: 2nd must do objective for survivors + specific killer buffs and tweaks for the weakest killers (wraith getting windstorm as basekit, clown pinky finger basekit...)

When I solo queue, I love kindred, but the fact that I only get 3 perk slots because of it is bothersome to me. Just to get information a SWF will have. While they get the information and a fourth perk slot?

There should be one big patch, adding totem counter, basekit kindred and chase indicator for survivors along with a secondary objective but I don't expect anything like that at this point.

I don’t know if a secondary objective is the right way to go. Maybe adjusting gen times, nerfs to meta perks, and making lower tier killers more viable with number tweaking and/ or overhauls to their kits.

What? Rank 1s dont bully killers. There is a minority in every rank that plays toxic. And hell no, its not more frustrating, cause not every SWF shares infinite information.

Thats what this thread is about, not the “sometimes” they don’t always share information. And yes, really organized SWF with comms and all with game sense bully killers.

This would actually be the best solution to that, both killers and survivors will get what they want at the same time. This would be a turning point for DbD, FINALLY the step needed to push this game into the next 10 levels. And probably the point where new players would finally stick to this game and not drop it after a few hours.

But part of the allure of the game is the unknown. Where is the killer? Is he chasing someone? It adds that bit of intensity and a way the killers can confuse and surprise survivors. What you are asking for would take all the unknown away. Almost like your hand is being held and all information given to you for free. What does the killer get? Does the killer get to see all survivors auras all the time? Balance is pretty alright right now. A few things could be changed to make it better but it is 4 v 1. Its never going to be "balanced". I for one wish it would go deeper into the horror aspect and make the game scarier. Kindred exists if you want something that is informationally strong but you gotta use a perk slot. Should killers get base ruin/noed/bbq because it helps them out? The game is not that bad solo survivor. Im in red ranks and actually enjoy solo survivor. You get some great moments especially against stealth killers. I run spine chill so i can kinda have an idea if theyre coming since no comms. I feel you may be relying on SWF too much. Sometimes you need some intuition and prediction on whats going to happen just on your own. Its not about escaping, its about performing your best and helping the team as much as you can. You dont need to escape everytime to rank up.

I don't think solo survivors need kindred basekit. As you play the game more you start to predict killer and even fellow survivor behavior... Giving survivors all that seems incredibly unfair for the killer (survivor main since PS4 release) I also mainly play solo and hit red ranks with ease. Sure I have games that don't go well mostly due to bad team members but I just brush it off and move to the next

I don't think you are understanding the thread. The fact of the matter is that why not just play SWF all the time since playing solo isn't as rewarding/ as fun.
The arguments you made are valid, but with SWF being a component to the game, it tosses the idea of "the unknown" away. They can easily discuss amongst eachother what the killer is doing at all times. With the game being so time management based, SWF get so much for so little, whereas solo survivors need to waste perk slots or just stay oblivious to it.
I don't "rely" on SWF, since as I've stated I haven't really played with friends for a long time.
You're argument about kindred being too strong for survivors to have basekit doesn't even compare to other perks you've stated.
The game has evolved past a "casual horror game", and into basically a competitive game. The only way that it could turn back casual is if SWF is removed (but that won't happen, will kill this game).
Overall, simple information buffs to solo survivors is all I ask for, and to compensate, killer's would need to be looked at for more buffs/ balance since the gap between SWF and solo will be lowered.

Killer queue times are horrible for me personally. Not mention that most of my gaming friends are into shooters and GTA so they won't go near this game. Solo isn't that bad in my experience but I've never played SWF so "ignorance is bliss" rings true in my case.

As a red rank, I agree it's easy to rank up, but that's not the point of the thread. It's the fairness that should be distributed to both solo survivors and killers.

At low ranks, killer queues are absurd, but red rank and purple rank killers get instant queues. Same goes for survivors, but opposite.

Tbh I kind of wish they would just skip one chapter and go over all the things that need to be fixed in this game eg matchmaking, lobby times, hit boxes, performance etc. I think it would be worth biting the bullet for

Thanks for explaining that. I've played off and on since launch on PS4 and recently switched to the Xbox version so I've still got quite a bit to learn. I'll most likely start out playing killer at rank reset. I rarely do as it is and I feel like I handicap myself as survivor by not understanding both sides.

I don't know - maybe I'm just more sensitive lately, but that could be it. The amount of bad survivors in these ranks who don't even have common sense seems to be dilute the pool of good survivors I run across and that just means more over performing for killers I guess.

Exactly. That's the biggest issue in the game right now, which also cases other problems, like inability to properly balance Killers vs SWF or balance certain perks, which are weak for solo and are OP for SWF.

I agree with this. I can only evey play survivor and have fun with at least 1 other person which to me is the most fun. If I have a full stack we just mess around to be honest but 1 other person I feel like gives enough information but not so much to where it is unfair.

If a minority can gain unfair advantages in most scenarios, then this is a flaw that needs to be addressed. When you get to play high ranks, almost all SWF lobbies are communicating about the game and more importantly information that will help them better position and get objectives done faster.
I don't know people who play SWF and don't use comms, so I am not quite understanding your logic behind them being a "minority". If anything people playing SWF without comms or more of a minority then those who do.
