Do you think the Devs learned from this Tome?
A lot of the challenges this time ended up not being “difficult,” as much as they ended up being luck based, screwing over your own team, or playing a killer style that wasn’t fun for you or the survivors.
Based on how the initial level 4 was compared to the final version, and based on the feedback about other things like DCs to prevent people from getting credit (six feet under I’m looking at you,) are you hopeful for the next version of the Tome or dreading it already?
Keep in mind if you hate it you don’t even really get the option to not do it, I mean you can choose not to do it but the other people doing it will still greatly affect your gameplay for a week or so each time.

Data shows it was a success. 🤢
Tome 2 will bring more fun and exciting challenges. 🤮

I'm waiting for a complete 4 gens with deja vu equipped

Now that you mention it.... Three, take it or leave it.

Now if it's a dwight related tome completing 4 gens with prove thyself sounds alot easier due to the speed

The three that were highlighted at the start.

At least //some// of the challenges got reworked because it was way too hard//long to get them. I personally hope they'll also learn from the community's resent towards Dark Sense and 6 Feet Under, and not make anymore near impossible challenges (Dark Sense in solo queue is.....)
I'm optimistic for now, it was only the first tome after all, i think it's okay it was very clunky, but they better make it more fun next time.

I think they are always learning.
They will see what challenges took too long to complete and probably adjust certain luck one in the future.
I do think they may be relying on the upcoming dc penalties to help with the ones negated by dc's but that means dedicated servers being released on all platforms first.

People would still dc/do something completely stupid just to negate your challenges, even with dc penalties.
Sadly, people are salty and they just want you to feel miserable too

Do you think players learned something else from this Tome except "Crying will help"? Like "Test it, before complain"? Or "When you have easy challenges, you will be finished after one day, so dont complain that you got nothing to do"?
I doubt it.

i agree a lot of the challenges were too easy.
however, i also really hope they rethink the difficulty on SOME of them. there were 3 challenges in particular that - even if they were not super hard - took out the fun of my matches.
i am talking about the following challenges:
- "escape 5 trials" - it basically forced me to tryhard and sweat through my games and made each death extremely annoying up to the point where i actually felt like i was entitled to escape every game (which kinda scared me tbh).
- "sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement in one trial" - had literally nothing to do with skill. all the time the survivors would just crawl away from the basement to deny me said hook (even when all were dead / downed at that point) and rather bleed out than give me the challenge. or they just DC, thats another big one. that one was annoying for me, since it forced me to completely alter my playstyle - and guess who i used to get it? yep. basement bubba.
- "complete 4 gens with the perk dark sense in one trial" - just two words: solo survivor. seriously, have they ever wasted a single thought on solo players when creating this? even with SWF this was super annoying to get and we threw sooo many games just trying to get this quest done. it just once again took all the fun from the game and made it a very unnecessary grind imo.
so yeah... i guess i cant really argue against the first one, thats probaply just me. looking back at it it wasnt a bad challenge or anything, it was really just my mind changing like that becasue of it. though the other two were a bit too much imo.
i think challenges should be something that, while it isnt just given out to you, is obtainable without a massive grind. cause its exactly that grind that ends up taking all the fun out of the game.

Tome 1 - Complete 4 gens with Dark sense
Tome 2 - Complete 4 gens with Deja View
Tome 3 - Complete 4 gens with No Mither
Tome 4 - Complete 4 gens with Dark sense...(we didn't already do this one did we?)

I think since you can only do 1 challenge at a time, then we should be able to choose whatever challenge we want. Not have a set starting point which almost guarantees everyone doing the same challenges at the same time.
As an aside, the one i worked the hardest to get was the end game unhook. Took me until i was 2 challenges away from finishing the 4th part. And even so, i don't see any problems with the grind. That's all this game is anyway. At least there was a goal to grind for

Do the devs ever learn?
1 -
I'd be thrilled if they learned to do away with the challenges that have to be completed in one match. They created a massive amount of DC's with those.

The “within one match,” are fine if is within your control. Doing 4 gens requires your team to not finish their first one while you’re doing your first. Killer ones require no survivors to DC.
i would rather see more of escape while using “this perk,” or for killer something like manage ruthless or merciless killer while using “this perk.”

This challenges were actually mostly fine.
People complain about complete 4 gens with dark sense. Well that's a real challenge. It wouldn't be much of a challenge if it was that easy now would it?
But the ones that you have to play 10 games were really annoying. For example search 12 chests. If you want to pip and at the same time do the challenge you can search 1 maybe 2 chests if you don't want to completely leave your team hanging.
And the one with 4 stuns in 1 game. This challenge f'd up all of the red ranks. People started throwing pallets for no reason, they were competing who is getting chased and no one was doing gens.

That’s the thing I didn’t like, a lot of them were actually super easy if you didn’t mind tanking your team. Meaning the first few days of each new level you almost never get a “real game.” Teammates just throwing pallets like they’re going to expire, or refusing to do any gens or unhook people while they loot chests.
At least the ones that require cleanse totems or healing other players will help the team in some way.

My point exactly. They were practically promoting not being useful to the team cuz who gets 4 stuns in 1 game. You loop and drop a pallet if they get bloodlust and you sometimes get a stun.
1 -
I actually screwed myself out of getting this because I have started eating that first hit rather than using pallets. I could have probably had it first attempt if I pallet camped and tried for it, instead it was the last one of level 4 I got done. I left it selected forever and just this morning got a farming bubba!

IMO, the biggest thing the devs did wrong with the challenges is the fact that most of them are COMPLETELY, as some have pointed out, luck and RNG based. If something is based on RNG, there should never, EVER be a requirement to do it all in one trial. Period.
1 -
Haha did It the same way. Found a farming trapper xddd I love him for it <3

I think the challenges wouldn't be as disliked if people could do more than one at a time. If we could do all the challenges available to us at a time then the more challenging challenges would become easier. As it is now, we have the 'do x y amount of times in a single challenge' which are all heavily down to chance and then we also have 'do x y amount of times' which are just repetitively doing the base game mechanics. If I could do all of these at once it would cut down on the annoyance so that even if I don't get the specific in one round challenge I can get an unhook and a gen done for my others.

In all seriousness, most of the challenges weren't that bad. Except "Dark Senses", if a challenge requires you to pray that your teammates are worthless it's not a good challenge.
It's also the only challenge I never got besides "Last Minute Hero".
