Does The Pig's traps activate and kill people after escaping?

I remember before the end game collapse that when you tried to escape via the exit gates while wearing a reversed bear trap you were sacrificed. But a few days ago I saw a clip of a survivor escaping while having a bear trap on his head. So was that feature removed or was it a bug? Please let me know

It only activates if the trap was placed before the final generator is completed.

If you place the trap after the gates are powered, it won't kill them upon escape.

Traps don't trigger if survivors escapes through the exit gates unless the timer has started.

RBT have two states, passive and active.

Passive is when the RBT is not doing anything, it's just there. The only thing you will have to worry about when the RBT is in this phase are the Pig's status effect add-ons.

Active is when the RBT is threatening the survivors life if they don't remove it in a specific amount of time. Once the trap is actived, survivors cannot leave, and must finish the game that's started (unless they leave through the hatch).

Before the EGC traps killed survivors no matter their state (active or inactive). There was only 3 ways for the survivor to escape. Either by taking it off at the boxes, escaping through the hatch, or the killer dropping the survivors past the pillars in the exit gate area, bypassing the activation.

After EGC, inactive traps pose no threat to the survivors other than making noise when walking or running. Active traps still apply the same rules as before the EGC, though.
