Self care meta
Just had a game against 4 red ranks, with ALL of them running self care. When did THIS happen? When did we go from the "dont heal" meta to the "selfcare behind a tree" meta? Anyone else notice selfcare picking up popularity?

Were they using botany knowledge with it I find self care to be unusable without it

Most people aren't good at chases so they'll do anything it takes to get their health state back. That's probably why loads of red rank killers have been running Sloppy Butcher + Nurse's Calling recently.

I think it was always meta.

huh well Im shocked then

And not 1 DS either...I didnt even NOTICE that part cuz I always expect 4 DSes.

It's a solid choice for solo survivors. Wastes too much time, though, especially if sloppy and thana are in play. I like running it with BK and Resilience for phat 20 second heals. Otherwise a pretty poor choice, especially if you have perks like iron will and dead hard.

Red ranks are potatoes now

I'm a 3 red rank and always carry self care because I refuse to rely on potatoes for heals.

Ive just been getting pretty use to ironwill, and if I need heals...Thats what medkits or bond is for.

Not another SC Thread.. :D
They run selfcare and now they are all dead. And i do not even need a screenshot for knowing that.

too late, already posted one

If its a casual m1 killer, there is no trouble to play with any perk. Killers are near harmless anyway.

Self care wastes you so much time and a perk slot.
SC is not meta since the nerf, some out of touch players might still run it but is underperforming.
Also no DS lmao.

There are a lot of semi-casual DbD players out there who don't really follow the meta and just use the perks they are used to and confortable with. Self Care is probably the most confortable and reliable perk there is out there, regardless of how efficient it is.
And as a player who prefer to play the killer role, we need thoses self care players. If everybody was playing full efficiency meta all the time, this would invalidate a lot of killer builds and make the game pretty much unbearable.

I've been let down too many times for survivors healing me. Once both needed healing against a wraith, I healed her then she ran off

when you are at the death hook, nobody want to heal you and you have no SC

I see a good amount of Self Cares users lately. But these type of survivors are the only ones who make Tru3's builds on Ghost Face and Wraith look "viable against 1% survivors", so I don't know why people keep using that perk.

This.
I think the movement of no self-care was more in the context 'how you should play if you think you're a leet player'.
As a side example:
I was in a game where the killer was good, could chase and hook no issue, and ended up finishing with 20k+ end game.
End game chat one of the survivors started lecturing the killer, about how during end game the killer should have camped more and claimed the kill because gennies were done etc etc.
Killer was like no, I don't want to play like that. But this survivor couldn't let it go, he would just start saying 'well at upper tiers good killers will blah blah', 'So if you want to be higher ranked killer you have to blah blah'. I ended telling this guy to be quiet and let the killer play how he wanted to play.
This idea of no self-care is the same kind of thing. Sure in some situations its better not to heal and get a gennie done, but I've been in games having to run from one hook to the next because my team kept getting 'one shotted' because they refused to heal.

Who really runs selfcare if theyre gonna be bringing a medkit and using ITS advantage anyways?
0 -
I've never understood why the efficiency isn't a high number do they not want medkits lasting for 4 to 5 heals
0 -
You should be happy if you're killer and they're running it. It only benefits you lol

This is not quiet true.
The players are fine with chases, but dedicated servers with high ping don't let survivors to escape a killer.
The game is not designed to play with 100+ ms ping, but mojority of players have to deal with it because of dedicated servers.

Eh, I stopped using SC after the last nerf. It just takes too damn long, especially if the killer is using any heal slowdown perks. Even without bond or empathy, it's usually not too hard to find someone to heal you.
While I won't fault anyone for using whatever build they like, I was getting really annoyed at one group this weekend... self-caring against a legion with thana and sloppy. At one point with Empathy I saw someone start healing on the other side of the map. I started working on a gen that was less than halfway done. I finished before they did.

Surprised the legion was still using sloppy since it doesnt proc on FF hits anymore.

Probably just inertia, or he didn't know. Actually, I didn't even know that... Though I don't play Legion often.

Your not wrong, but there's also a lot of assumptions based around that statement.
The most obvious is HAVING a medikit to begin with, because they're not infinite. Then you move into ideas like having a constant heal rather than say a one off.
I don't use SC fyi, but I do think there's layers to this argument other than 'if you're good, you don't use it'.

Agree and I think this is a good argument against it.
I don't run SC but tend to run inner strength but in your scenario I wouldn't necessarily be using it because there's no point. But what were getting into now is the nuance of different matches. In my example, they kept getting 'one-shotted' because they had no heal and couldn't manage the killer. I really wish they did have SC in my scenario.
Some in this thread were had more of a 'chest thumping' take. That is 'oh if you were a good player, you wouldn't need it'. So it tends to skew a lay audiences view of SC.

I might call it "chest thumping" if someone is insinuating NEVER healing, but in this case...theres just so many better options. Like you said, inner strength is GREAT. I used that for abit myself when it first came out. Typically though I stick to bond since it has alot of uses, not JUST for healing.

Bond is one of my favourite perks in solo queue, and IMO it's far better than self care for getting yourself healed. I only leveled Nancy far enough to get her Adept achievement. I really should try to use inner strength and see how well it works for me.

I lvled her up immediately thinking inner strength and fixated were gonna be main stays for my stealthy survivor playstyle (which says something since Im a killer main and dont use many points in survivor). Ended up using inner strength for about a week and fixated for about a month (being able to stealth around an area while the killer is searching your jungle gym and failing to find you is great).

The person that brought inner strength AND self-care made my head hurt...

Hey, sometimes you have enough time to get hit 5 times, break every totem AND selfcare for an eternity behind a tree. How else are you gonna use your time? Gens? Whats a gen? Lol, jk.

This gave me a good chuckle. Take your well-deserved up vote!

Not sure which story you're referring too and like I said in my other reply to you I understand the options. But to say that SC isn't an option is just wrong unless your getting into some kind of nuanced elite tier style of gaming.

I mean the last nerf, it doesnt make a difference in the meaning tho
0 -
Well imo its does because sprint burst and self-care would have to the single most nerfed perks in the ENTIRE game. Killer perks included.
Don't know if there's something better than the wiki, because the wiki skips over some of the nerfs self-care received such as not needing to come to a complete stop to heal.

The explanation is: Megheads just came back after vacation

These days it is really easy to pip as a Survivor, most of the time I get some really bad Survivors at red ranks.
0 -
Because Red Ranks are easy to get to now, and once you get there you won't ever fall too far out even at rank reset you'll go to Purple and be right back to Red almost immediately.
I have seen players crouching for minutes at a time while another teammate is looping the killer, hiding in lockers way too long, etc.
