[IDEA] Add category to perk : no more Meta and more BP

Hello :)

I play both sides "equally" (55% S/45% K) in red ranks, and I noticed that the meta is still the same for years and it's pretty rare to find someone no using at least 2 meta perks.

-----

I also noticed how much of the grind the game can be for new players as there are more and more perks added to the game 4 times a year.

The grinding evolved a lot these past years and is way better than it used to be, but I think a little boost in BP earning would be welcome !

This is why I'm presenting to you this idea "Add categories to perks".

This would be a way to be rewarded with a 100% bonus BP for playing with 4 perks from 4 different categories, instead of the usual meta perks.

-----

I explained the different categories and sorted all the survivor's and killer's perks, illustrating the idea with few examples.

There've been many iterations of idea for categorising perks. Personally yours seems problematic to me.

Mainly, there's a LOT of perks there that fit into different categories. Ruin, BBQ and Chilli, a Nurse's Calling and Monitor and Abuse is a pretty hugely meta build for a lot of killers, yet still fits in your listing for double points.

Likewise, Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time and Prove Thyself is an acceptably 'varied' build for survivor despite being 3 second chance perks and a massive gen speed buff.

In fact, counteractive to your goal, this continues to reinforce meta builds, while punishing anything off-meta with half points if the perks synergise with each other. Plague recently became much more enjoyable because stalling perks synergise better and work with her power, does she deserve halved points for finally having a funtional build which encourages cleansing? No.

If anything this only really changes 1 perk slot, and becomes a hassle of "which objective/deviousness perk is the least bad to get double points?"

I'm more fond of just increasing the BP survivors get in general and buff the killer's more rewarding actions a little more. I don't think this needs a super complicated "fix" per say, but I do agree that players should get a little more BP per game.

@anarchy753 well it's not about cutting BP out but giving away some for having a little more diversity in your build.

The mobile version of the game categorizes perks quite nicely, although you aren’t limited to which perks you can use. You can use four perks from just one category.

I think Dead by Daylight should follow this system, just to find and understand perks better. I don’t think we need to limit perks though.

3 second chance perks and a massive gen speed buff.

DS is the only second chance perk I see there.

DH is an exhaustion perk, any other exhaustion perk would have make it so you don't get in randge for a hit in the first place, and the best usage of it ( baiting a hit ) is extremly unreliable.

BT is made to discourage people to tunnel a person that had no interraction with his own unhooking and to potentialy give counterplay to survivors getting hooked in the basement while the killer is hard proxying.

Also, "massive" gen speed buff, turn the 44.44 sec of two survivors working on the same gen into 40 sec ; 29.63 instead of 33.33 for 3 ; 25 instead of 28.57. MASSIVE.
