Just had the same thing happen here, best you can do to help is try to draw one of the killers near, this will force the cage to move to a new location, hopefully not blocked by a hook.

I've had a similar issue but i'm running of windows store so i don't have a Stop button. Right yeah after looking it up a little it makes more sense why they aren't in the game/cross-progression since having two different teams working on the same game would be really difficult to manage.
