I get how people say he would be a better M1 killer but when would be an appropriate time to use his knives?

So i tried to play the Trickster on console, and boy don't let me get started on the recoil it sucks so bad plus i would prefer if you can activate his ultimate ability while throwing knives because it would just make more sense. I see alot of potential in this killer they just need to make him better
