How tf is DS worse now? Lol they removed the counterplay in dropping as you're always guaranteed the skill check. The only counterplay is slugging.

Adrenaline is absolutely not a response to unfun killer play. Perk is just obscenely strong. DS is sort of anti tunneling, but also survivors are dicks and will unhook each other literally in front of the killer without BT. That isn't the killer tunneling, your teammate is just bad.
